Attaching binding to a leotard is a simple way to add a professional touch to your leotard. There are two common methods to finishing the edges of a leotard: the binding method and the fold-over method. I will be showing you the binding method.
There are actually two different ways to attach the binding to your leotard. You can sew the binding on with an attachment or without the attachment. In this video I will be sewing on the binding without the attachment.

📢I just realized at the beginning I said you only need a serger and home sewing machine, but for the top stitching you can use the zigzag feature on your home sewing machine 📢

Hi Christa, I LOVE your video's i was wondering if you cut your binding fabric 85% or 90% of the actual raw neckline measurement, and if you are using a 3 or 4 thread serger?

I'm so glad you love them! :) I actually don't measure. I just cut and sew a long strip, but when I pull it as I'm serging it probably ends up being about 85%. I am using a 4 thread serger. Let me know if you have additional questions :)

Do you use elastic underneath the binding? And can you do bindings with just using a home sewing machine?

    • @coach_christa

No, no elastic was used. Yes you can use just a home sewing machine. You would have to make sure the part where you serge would have to be a straight stretch stitch and the top stitching could be zigzag or a straight stretch stitch.

But what if my binding becomes a strap? Can I make a strap the same way?
