Thanks so much for the great tutorial! It was breaking my brain trying to figure out how to do binding straps myself tonight.
I added some elastic tucked inside the straps just to reinforce them, which is something people may want to also consider if they’re using a thin Lycra. Just avoids any indecent exposures if the straps stretch while dancing 😊

Hi! I have a question. Am I also supposed to use elastic for the back and arm wholes? I finished the Leo and the whole back was very loose. Thank you! Your videos are so helpful!

There are be a few solutions to this:
      1. You can adjust your pattern so that the back is not so wide
      2. Pull the binding a little more when sewing. The binding is was acts as the elastic.
      3. You can add elastic. I use to have elastic on just the back but then realized if I pulled the binding enough it works. You would just add the elastic to the inside before you do the binding.

What kind of fabric should I look for for bindin straps? Any stretch fabric or something specific?

Just a four way stretch. Also if you use an attachment it's better for a medium weight fabric so it doesn't create ripples.

Can the home sewing machine step be skipped? Not sure what purpose this serves? Thank you for the video, very helpful!! 😄

Not really (I wish b/c I hate that part it takes forever). If you were to skip the fold-over part that makes the binding it would be super super small. So then leading into the strap I'm not sure the strap would be wide enough for the 2 cover stitch needles. You could maybe do a very small zigzag stitch but that might be hard. So really the purpose of the home sewing machine is to create the binding wider. However, if you're looking to take out a step you can definitely take out the serging part.
