As a long time fan of Chuck Grodin's comic sensibility but having no sense of what he might be like off camera it's nice to learn of his private act of kindness here.
one of my and my father's favourite guests. I so loved hearing my dad laughing his ass off at his dry dry humour. Bob Einstein was also a fav of ours. explains a lot about my humour today...which a lot don't get 😂
Charles Grodin explains in an interview that he found that just being himself and answering questions wasn’t very entertaining, so he decided to adopt the persona we see on talk shows (dry, always slightly offended, etc), because, basically, it was funny. (Which it was, imo - )
I never met Chuck Grodin, but I did work for Phil Donahue and Marlo Thomas for a few years. They are lovely people, and I’m glad to hear their friend Chuck was, too.
I remember the Prince episode. Back then, it wasn't so well known that he was a funny guy who would gladly go along with something silly like that. Clearly, as we would later learn, he drew the line at having his name/symbol made fun of.
Caisse you've had such cool jobs and worked with real icons. I really admire your career. Also - I had heard somewhere that Charles Grodin was difficult and I'm glad to hear your version. Plus I remember the Harrison Ford bit, I used to have such a crush and thought you were so lucky. Anyway...See you on Insta or the podcast. This is a fun channel. Always happy to see more Dave.
I like really enjoyed like your favorite like stories like from like the late show. I was like do I want to watch this and then like I decided like I would like watch it. Then he was like and then i was like ..... AHHHHHHHHHHH! Why don't these peoples loved ones ever tell them to STOP !
I heard Caissie also had the dubious honor of burying the bodies of Dave's many enemies in the walls of the Ed Sullivan Theater. Nothing quite as glamorous as show biz!
For the longest time Dave was p.. off that Warren Beatty wouldnt come on. When he did he was just fine. I met him around 2003 h ecouldnt have been nicer.
I love that Beatty was concerned about -- from the sound of it -- whether or not he looked funny (as in comedic, NOT funny-looking) eating grapes from the plate.
@@markstevens1729 I don't need to be there to see what kind of person a public figure is. Actions and words speak of character. Besides, people close to him have spoken on how vain and narcissistic ole Warren is. Narcissistic people are not good people. Not to say it is entirely their fault. But vanity and narcissism is a cancer to humanity. It will destroy us if we let it. So pointing out narcissistic behavior and other things of the same nature is of the best interest of hum@nity as a whole. We need to stop worshipping these false idols in Hollywood.
I love Caissie and that comment from Charles Grodin is so sweet!

One might think you were close friends considering you referred to him as Chuck.

He was a total class act.

I love this series. The stories are so fun!
Charles Grodin is a prince.
Love these crew highlights!
You know, Paul, I got my first car at Harrison Ford
Dave was so freakin' funny. He could make dumb lines like that hilarious.
Great story about Charles Grodin!
What fantastic stories Caissie shares with us about Dave. But her run-in with Prince had me in tears! Classic!
😆 💜

I saw Wilford Brimley at a Denver Broncos game once.
Who knew Letterman was such a Letter Man??
"It's Dave's world, and we're all living in it." is a quote from Harvey Pekar.
This is the best remembrance segment I have seen yet.
Awesome stories, thanks for sharing!
The Nicholas Cage story is awesome.
"It's not fair, 'cause she knows me."
that nicolas cage story had me laughing so hard 😂
This is delightful.
This proves that the song “You’re So Vain” is about Warren Beattie
Just like about 99% of the people here in the comments section, I really liked Charles Grodin's words of encouragement. He was a true gentleman.
There's two streets in Garden City, Michigan at the corner, it reads, Harrison, Ford.
I seriously thought she was going to say Dave had managed to intercept the letter and then sent the roses to himself to play a joke on her 😆
Shandling was a genius

Have you heard Kevin Smith's stories about Prince?
Awesome format!
This is a really charming segment, my favorite of the writer segments.
8:59 it’s not a different time. It’s the same time. You choose to give words power that they don’t have. It’s just a word. It was a funny statement.
😌 aww, charles grodin. what a gent! i hope someones remembers me like that when i'm gone.
Great collection of stories. I don’t think I could even pronounce a word to Prince. Charles Grodin had a talk show, it was actually great
This show was so great!
Charles Grodin helps clean up spilled coffee. Who knew? 🙂
I hope we get to see "top monologues" soon!
OMG. GREAT Brush With Greatness, Caissie! Also, you have good story-telling chops!
Prince. Such a prince.
This is great! Thanks
👏🏼👏🏼💗 Excellent, thank you!!👏🏼💖✌🏼
Great stories and living room!
The Prince story is hilarious in terms of Prince stories. “You got wet.” As he walks by… lol
Dave sporting a Trump tie job in the Sabrina sketch …
We can’t use the B words anymore?
It's her choice over the language she wishes to use or not use. And in any case, it's not really a hill worth dying on anyway.
GREAT LETTER!!!!

Your favorite moments have you in them

Caissie - well done

Hey... How come Oprah and Cher are still around?
Charles Grodin was so damn funny!
Funny picks
I wish she had said to Prince after he said "You're wet", "Well, you are the artist formerly known as Prince"
Love your current hair Caissie!! Back then was great too!!!
nick was so handsome 😍
Why didn't you wear the big tie, Dave?
Gary Shambling. Such a nut.
I'm just going to come out and say, that is a beautiful woman.
Hopefully you're just shy Martin because that shouldn't be a difficult thing to say.
Grodin❤
I bought my first automobile at Harrison Ford.
Lol...now tell us about Tulsi, Caissie 😛
Don’t feel bad for the letter. I’m sure if you’d said that’s offensive, Dave would tell you you had no sense of humor!
Not an option😅
Bravo Caissie!
Cassie is awesome!
It was a joke, Dave.
I spent the first half of this worried she wasn't going to share the Nicolas Cage story.
@@pashadyne no, I knew the Nicolas Cage story. I just hoped she was going to share it.
this lady can make a short story long.
😂🤣💁♀️
Elton John.

Not Offensive.
Cassie needs her own show. That's a star. Just sayin'
@@GrahamandMatthew Didn't know, will check out!
Warren Beatty is a very pompous and vain man. Always has been. Great actor, but horrible human. But that's most of Hollywood.
Gee, almost sounds like you were there, which I’m sure you were not.
