Billy Lane World’s Ugliest Shovelhead Part 2. 1972 Harley-Davidson FLH On Fire
HTML-код

- PART 3 COMING SOON. Aging paint with fuel, oil, & fire. If you try this, make sure you are in an open area clear of flammable chemicals & materials. Make sure there is no fuel, fuel vapor, or other volatile liquids or vapors in the tanks. Keep a fire extinguisher nearby. Do not let accelerant get on your clothing. Keep your source accelerant (I used gasoline) far away from the fire. Do not hold your flame source with the same hand you apply accelerant with- designate a dedicated hand for each. Be safe.

People tend to ride bikes more when they don't have to worry about keeping it scratch free and dirt free. Ride in that rain, tie some camping gear on the back, take some dusty dirt roads exploring while having fun. Make it a piece of moving art instead of stationary art.
Yessir ! My bike ain’t no show bike that’s for sure and sometimes it bugs me all the little scratches and dings but in reality your right… i would hate to have a perfectly clean bike and worry about messing it up .
I dig that as long as it's reliable
If the bike doesn't have a couple of imperfections you're probably not using it right.
I don’t have a bike, but I do have a 33’ ford pickup. Besides for hammer and dolly work the body is untouched. It tells a story from front to back. Different panels from about a dozen pickups, but they’re all nice. Just not painted. The drivetrain has been gone through to make it reliable and as fun to drive as possible, cause driving, or riding, is what it’s all about.
I’m 30, you influenced me so much as a kid!! I perused a creative path, made a great life and ride my Harley like I stole it! Thank you man, honestly.
Love the patina. I'd rather ride that than own some trailer Queen. Great job, Billy. Keep up the good work and stay in the wind!
Really enjoy your content now alot better than the chopper build offs!! You seem very humble and explain things good using tools the average man has around... Keep up the good work
He is such a legend and a dieing breed in the motorcycle community. So glad he makes these videos
A real tire man crazy!!! Tires, brakes, and alignments I enjoy watching a Artists at work and you are a blessed talent ride on keep putting out great content.
No one taught me, when I leave something loose, I leave it noticeably loose as you did here. I learned that lesson the hard way.
Man I'm gonna be honest I'm so glad to see you building I've admired you since I was a kid. You and indian Larry really sparked my obsession with choppers In the early 2000s.
Great videos Billy, love watching this stuff!
I was totally blown away by how you aged the paint. I have never seen that done before. Always impressed by your work.
Real long true duals with cocktail shakers or fishtails on each side would look awesome...imolol
Can't wait for Part 3...lol
Dam the bike looks great keep it up man 👍
Very cool! Your a very skilled builder
I love seeing the 72 Electra glide take shape in its new life!
I bought a 72 flh like yours a few years ago because I happened across it and the guy gave me a deal. Took me a couple of years to get used to it, was deff not like riding a new bike at all. I got to learn how to work on it from an old timer who basically stopped working on bikes when evolution motors became prominent.
I got lucky to get an old school education on Shovelheads from an old school mechanic.
Wouldn't ride anything else after riding and learning my shovel. ✌
Love the old school build it reminds me of my youth working on pan and shovelheads with my dad
I have a 1967 Ironhead Sportster that I got in 1982 it's my baby. I had 1956 pan he head and a 1975 Shovelhead
Billy I was HAPPY to see your mug again😎. I remember you and Indian Larry, well! I’m now watching all your postings.
I’m a cat dad, I have 3. But seeing your tuxedo kitty climbing on your 72’, caused me laugh out loud🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🐈🐈🐈
Kelly
Billy, I live near where Lou’s C&L Hog Shop was. I knew Louie and Casey from 1979 til Louie passed. He was the best bike builder back in the day. Semper Fi Lou
Looks really good Billy. That color, I really like that color man. I once owned a 2003 cvo road king that was centennial gold with the harley davidson on the tank was gold leaf. That color is like a brass looking color. Even tho it was a screaming eagle 103 twin cam, a friend that's a Harley mechanic did the works to it and it made about 120 tq. I had to sell it, I really miss that bike.
Now this is some real shit I can relate too. Sick of all the trailer queens. Great job.
Absolutely love what you did to this shovelhead!!! I just picked up an old paughco shovelhead swingarm frame and STD cases, probably gonna build something similar. Keep building and ride safe bro
Billie thanx for the videos I will definitely use this info to use on my 74/74...very useful your never to old to learn...btw I'm 74 too-
Part one and part two was pretty cool thanks for taking the time to make the videos I’m a fan now I have a lot of shiny motorcycles FXR’s T-Sport, Road Glide…. Only one Shovelhead and that’s an FXR also… Going to build an old bike like you’re doing right now one of these days turned out really good so far
THIS WAS THE CRAZIEST BUILD, ONE OF THE BEST ALSO.
Youre a effin genius Billy Lane ! Ps love the shop cat. She needs her own channel. Keep making these videos. Love the content brother.
Absolutely phenomenal work on that bike! Awesome content you’re putting up Billy, keep it up!
God gifted talent...it's a blessing ,thanks for the show ✌️
I have seen it all now. I have watched a man literally light his bike on fire, take a knife to it, and beat it with a steel bar all it make it look better. That is one tough bike and I like it. Sweet job on that paint effect.
Awesome to bike building again I am 67 and have been building bikes since I was 17
I just bought a 1989 FXST Custom looking forward to restoring it
That bike looks so much better than what it started as. That bike is awesome 👌
You're one hell of a teacher 👍
I put my 72 together with a bunch of parts that look like hell everyone loves it you can't park it and get away from it fast enough before people are asking questions
That seat looks so comfortable to ride on! I I had a 74 flh busted down my dad and I did and made it look like a fat boy wheels decals paint but put drag pipes on it took off stock carb and put s&s super b on it.
Fun build. A pleasure to watch. Thank You
Like the older bikes, Billy. Thank Christ the “OCC” days are behind us. They had their 15 minutes and then some.
Respect for doing your bid and paying for your mistakes. Admirable.
More will be revealed.
all over the world guys are in their Garages cussing and sweating over this same stuff, good to know we're not alone.
Bike is looking good Billy. Nice tip for bleeding the brakes. I will use it, I need to do my brakes. Keep up the great work can’t wait to see it done.
Been waiting for this
Sorry i got hacked by a group on telegram so i dont use the app
My goodness bad ass sir never thought you could do this and make a bike look so original ,cant wait to see it running .
Are these congratulation things a scam?
love your channel
Thanks again for saving this sweet ride. My ride is a 99 Electra Glide Classic, and I love the fact it doesn't have all the electric issues I see guys with modern bikes having
Awesome! Really like the new look! I have a 72 CJ5 with a 304, love it. My twin brother said he could make it look a lot better with a can of gas and a match, he's a dork..lol
That aging process turned out awesome! I like the stogie while you work too. 🤘
Wicked,, thank you for sharing your wisdom & magic, that bike is turning into ridable art,, 👍👍
Awesome, looking forward to part 3
Wow Billy thanks so much for posting definitely not trailer queen or bar Queen that's one thing out of Life about your channel
Just want to thank you Billy for the inspiration to work on my 81 shovelhead. I needed to fix the Bendix on the starter shaft. I've been putting it off. But I have to cuz it's a non kicker. Now you got me thinking about putting belt drive on it and adding a kicker. So thanks again Billy
Love these videos Billy. Keep ‘em coming. I miss watching you build bikes on TDC. This is even better.
I’m hooked. After reading comments for half an hour,I went back and watching it again. Crazy good stuff. Love it brother.
BILLY LANE IS THE BEST HANDS DOWN!!! APPRECIATE YA BUD. Can really see your progress in the gym starting to show.. A shooting wtf happened? Hope everyone is okay BILLY?
Couldn't have said that better myself. A very real individual , humble. Met him in Sturgis 2003 and again in 2005 (Dave Mann benefit) Kansas City , very talented lots of fun to hangout with.

This is why you’re the best in the business.
Reminds me of the old easy rider rips rides. Really great job Billy.
I loved Rip
I just seen a dude the other day using the same method with his propane torch and the way it turned out with that clear coat my mind was blown brother💚😎👊🏼🗯💥🤙🏽🤙🏽
Love these series you are doing. Think I will apply these techniques on my 56’ pan project I’m about to kick off. Keep pumping this stuff out because it is equally educational as it is entertaining. Best wishes to you and your family Billy.
Awesome billy thanks been waiting for this video to post!!!
Damn yaaaaaa….. awesome looking ride
my shovelhead has the same exact tins, all aged already from riding and just being old, i didnt think anyone would intentionally want to do that.. guess i got me a keeper!
dave boogies that’s funny. Brother you got yourself a keeper. 👍🏻
Love your videos. And bought a 1997 Road king flhr with 25,000 miles on it.
Its cool to watch someone do something they love and can make a living at it. You sir are a real artists and craftsman and i am looking into getting into classic bike races and rallys when i retire in a couple yrs your sons of speed is someting i am interested in . I love the 1930s era bikes and the 37 Indian 4 is my favorite bike . I hope you keep making great content for years to come. Ride hard, live free
Man I'd love to have an old bike like that. So cool
Absolutely magical
That's going to be a bad ass bike
Really liking “the work for it “…section !!
Thanks for taking the time to teach us your skills and secrets.
Very satisfying you taking all that time and effort to make your tank look like my new old Triumph’s does right now. In the midst of getting it running and the paint is full of shellac stains, crazing, and worn spots. Thanks to you there is No way I’ll repaint it now. Kudos on your worrying about your cats, too. I noticed.
Hey Billy! Glad to find you on RUclips. I’m a real fan from your Biker Build Off days. Good to see you. Be safe brother!
Your work shows that you my friend are an incredible guy/artists.
Glad I found your channel. Brings back fond memories. I still have the OG tee with the pinup girl. Thanks
hey Billy, I enjoy your videos. Mostly because you take the time to explain everything your doing. Most people don’t do that. They just “do it” and you have to figure it out. Good stuff!
This is got me excited. I’m gonna pull dad’s old FLH out and start tinkering on it. Thanks Billy!
Great stuff billy...perhaps the finest builder of all...love from rotherham..south Yorkshire England. .
Nice job, stay real, stay safe
I think it's a beautiful motorcycle!
Thought you were crazy for starting it on fire but actually came out pretty cool! Nice trick with the bungy cord too.
Dam glad I found your channel Billy, we met years ago back in they high times of wide tires. Dam happy to see you on this intraweb thing. Keep up the good work and stay strong.
I love breaking my tires down the same way ,,old man taught me how to do it and I love it,, the paint trick was cool and my old hoodie from choppers in from the 90s is falling apart but it will always stay mine ,thank Bill
As usual very informational and interesting video, thank you. Love that rear tail light configuration..👍🏻
Another fine educational video from Billy...you rock dude .🤘🤘🤘🤘
Thank you for these posts..I have learned some things that may have saved my motorcycle. I use to have a uncle and he would teach me all these oldtymer tricks ,but he is no longer around. Again thanks for what your doing..If your ever in Cincinatti I will buy you dinner and show you my shop.
Amazing Billy! Truly awesome seeing you do this! MLH&R!
My man ,I never seen anything like it. Seriously funny. I like it.

Gday from Australia🇦🇺 Billy! Keep up the great work mate!
Longtime fan but new subscriber. Lovin your how to videos. I'll be 60 next May and plan on do my cholo style build on my 2013 Heritage Softail with my own hands as much as possible. Thanks to guys like you and RUclips I've learned a lot and I look forward to being able to say I built it myself.
Great job. I'll be looking for part 3!
Good work .thanks for sharing your gift with the world. Ride hard and free billy
I have to be honest, I wasn't feeling the gold paint when it went on, but it really looks the part now you've done all that work on it. This is going to be such an awesome bike.
It maybe ugly but it sure sounds Great ! I wouldn’t be scared to take off with it. Looks ready to run another 48 years. You make everything look so simple. You’ve done it so many times that you’ve forgotten more than most people will ever know ! Way to go !’👍🇺🇸
Thank you. Great running bike, sounds so gnarly through that pipe.
This one keeps reminding me of my first Harley. It was a `67 FLH that I bought off a sailor in Hawaii.
Cool aging technique. Can’t wait to see her running!
Another sweet instructional video. Thanks man
