Matt glad you are happy with our old Harley ! It was meant to be for you to have it. To many similar things about your Dad and my husband. Sure sounds like they were the same.He loved watching you Dad ! Enjoy and I am sure Dale and Eric my late husband are both proud of you and Keith being such awesome sons carrying on the dream !
I came there once years ago but I didn't have enough cash to get inside. They let me look around outside but they said if I was 65 I could get in but I was only 64 then so I never got in. Tim came out and talked to me though. I was traveling and got to my bank the next day but never made it back there. A dollar short a day late and a month early. Now I have been paralyzed and can't walk anymore. I wish I could go back in time to Wheels thru time. I would have loved to see inside. I watch the shows and I can walk again
This is what I do when building original design Lego models for my channel- I have bins of parts by color or I just swipe from something else I built.😂 Btw I was inspired by Dean & Matt to do a WTT tribute 20’s board track bike!
Watching you guys get carried away putting 110 year old tires on a 120 year old machine made me forget you were working on the ' 51 . Love this , I was born January 1951 ... 51 was also the year Rocket 88 was released . Rock n Roll !
Me and my son are making the ride to the museum this Saturday. His whole life as a toddler and little boy (he'll be 11 next month) we would always go to the Harley Dealer and he would sit on the bikes with me and we would pretend we were on a ride somewhere. Well last July I made a lifelong dream come true and i got a Harley. Its an 03 wide glide. We absolutely love riding together and when I told him about wheels through time he said dad we gotta go. It's only about a 2 hr ride from us. we are both super excited about it.
@DanBeanner-zo3ms right on brother. I honestly love my wide glide. It handles really well and doesnt feel heavy at all. I had 0 issues adjusting to it. Youre right about cant stop with just one lol. I'm actually going to look at a sportster 1200 tomorrow to build a chopper out of with my son. Good luck on your project and keep er on 2 wheels.
You two have a great time! Memories, dude. And good luck with your new bike. My son and I are meeting there in June. He riding down from Tennessee with his veteran club. I am coming up from Georgia. Making Memories. As a father, I really do hope you and your son have a great time !
The both of you will be overwhelmed! You are, truly blessed, being only 2hrs away ! It will honestly take, more than one vist , to absorb the Museum! The amount of passion that has been put into this Museum, will truly be heartfelt! Moments and memories of a life time ! God speed and enjoy! Thank you, Matt and the staff , for your hospitality and preservation of, American Freedom! Wheels Through Time #1
When i was a kid i sandblasted flywheels at Truett and Osborne and paul would come to the back and get me when a fine lady would come in for a free shirt. Seen alot of boobies in that shop
Man, the shop, the museum, your look, the voice, and the knowledge were all setting bells off in my head but I couldn’t put my finger on why it was so familiar. Then I saw your father and it all made sense. OMG THATS DALE’S KID…! he was hands down my favorite on AP and such a wealth of knowledge with so much passion it was infectious and I don’t even ride man. Many blessings brother and you’ve got a new sub. So stoked I stumbled onto your channel!
Matt takes a very quick look and knows everything that is original and what is not. What works together, what does not. Me after 30 min. still trying to figure out what I'm looking at.
Dale, we had the pleasure of meeting last fall at the swap meet in Davenport, Iowa. Years back before I realized the joy in having an all original motorcycle, I built a 45 from scratch. I bought a basket 1968 engine from the St. Paul, MN motorcycle escort service for $80. I then proceeded to build a complete two wheel 45 bike. I am sure parts are from many years but it is probably the only two wheel 1968 45 cu in motorcycle out there. And you know why. That being said, maybe it's time you built a 45 cu in bike for the yearly give away. Hear me out. I think half your viewers/visitots are old geezers (like me), and kick starting a knuck or pan gets tougher as we age. A 45 on the other hand is way easy and while they are not good for rode trips, they are beautiful for around town (when it's not to hot out). So please think about it. Maybe you could even find the fan I seen on a MN state trooper bike that mounted to cool the cyclinder off.
EVERY TIME I CAME TO W.T.T. I SPENT THE WHOLE DAY ENNJOYING SEING AND HEARING THE ROAR THROUGH THE MUSEUM AND BEING MESMORIZED WITH THE JOY OF H.D. MOTORS...I BUILD A 1948 PANHEAD IN YEAR 2000, RUNNED ON 2002 , TOOCK HER APPART , PAINTED IT AND PUT HER TOGETHER TO LOOSE MT SIGHT AND SOLD MY 1999 AND MY 1948,,,SOME NIGHT I FALL AT SLEEP RECALLING TAKING EATHER ONE OUUT OF THE GARAGE AND TAKING A RUN TO DAYTONA, BIKE WEEK... LOVE YOUR VIDEOS !
If I may say you are the most knowledgeable dude on Harleys I've ever seen or heard about, it's truly amazing how much you know about every model from every year .cheers 💯 %
Matt I started watching your video a while ago. You are a Harley nostalgic super hero. And I just bought a 1936 Harley R 36 with a 45 engine unfortunately it is not the knucklehead . it was running two years ago and it's garaged the past 2 years.I can't wait to start it up and ride it
damn dude, I have 1 51 WL motor, in my Servicar if I had only known...have a 51 G motor for it too...dang. Man, lots of re-pop...sigh, I even have a stock primary... and I had no idea they were rare... I am in your system in NC, contact me if you need the engine, we can talk.
Im younger and never had an intrest in older motorcycle. Im really big on motocross But Matt is so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about these bikes it made me realize how cool these old bikes are. I love the mechanical side of these videos alot too. So cool to see how things were done like the cork float haha
You guys are machines working on machines. You each know so well what you need to do and you are such a great team you just boom boom boom from item to item. Amazing watching you work. Awesome.
boy watching you is a real testament to your fathers teaching. You dont miss a beat and you are at least your fathers equal or just a bit better when it comes to knowledge
Riding down to the area from Massachusetts in Aug with a group of fellow vets we can’t wait to come by and check out the museum. Your knowledge is amazing love watching your videos
Well Matt the good news is I found the socket set I promised you on opening day this year, I also know where the uniform is. The bad news is the guy I wanted to bring down there doesn't look he's going to able to make it. No matter, I'll make the trip solo. Keep the good stuff coming I truly enjoy these videos. 4 kicks.
I do Marine repair for a living and also restore muscle cars. I love your work but why would you try and start a bike with dry cylinders and no oil or Marvel? When he put in new plugs and no oil it was like huh wth dude ? All that work on dry cylinders that have sat for over 30 years. You and I know how much damage could happen with dry rings and cylinders. Your work is top notch man dont get me wrong/ Love the video congrats on getting it running sounds wonderful .
I like the unique railing on the upper level…..partially built old iron Matt you and your partner were so excited to get the old flatty running you both kept getting tangled up with the air hose!
I just love these videos. Although I have a modern Indian I still like Harley especially the old ones you have. Ride safe guys and look forward to more videos. From the UK. 😎
Many would agree that 1951-53 Harleys wore the most beautiful tank emblems H-D created. Everyone has their opinions (wrong as they may be) but still entitled. Love your show Matt, and you are a great promoter of vintage motorcycles. Keep up the noble cause.
I love hearing you think out loud. I hear your process. Thanks for that. What do you give on a bike like this that isnt really all original? Really special bikes. 1901 wow! Cool to see. I have never seen anyone do that with a needle and seat. 3 to prime and 3 kicks to start.
48:05 Cork Borer. I just saw a video that said they are hole punches for cork stoppers. They are used to make the holes to pass glass tubes through when doing experiments. There should be a sharpener with it.
Great to see talent breathing life back into a rare and very cool bikes. congratulations and great to see those stored tyres helping out the veteran bike owner; good on you!
Pretty cool Matt and Chris! You two have forgot more than I'll ever know about old Harleys! It's great to see how great mechanic's work on these old bikes.
Harleys are not normally my "thing", but with your enthusiasm and "can do" attitude, whats not to like! As for the question nobody asked "Who has 110 year old tyres, still in usable condition waiting on the shelf for a 123 year old motorcycle?" YOU DO!! You actually captured something magical there, thank goodness you had the camera rolling or we'd have missed it. Ride 'em, don't hide 'em boys.
WTT is a definite bucket list place to visit. I loved the two days I was there. Matt is a great guy. I rode 936 miles to get there, and it was totally worth the trip.
I have been following You and the museum for a long time. I appreciate what you do to preserve the past. My Dad was a tt flat track racer. He was a factory racer for Harley and Indian based out of Dothan, Alabama Dealer. When i was a child we still had a TT 450 Indian, part's were scarce and once the few nos parts were gone it sat, he slowly parted out most of it. I even put the front end and exhaust pipes to put on my 160 Honda Dream and Suzuki cafe with fiberglass tank, fenders and frame. People in our area used to bring Hartley's would being them in boxes and he would rebuild them from scratch. He even modified the magneto from an F104 airplane for a Harley on one.😂. Appreciate all you do.!
This was six days ago and I swear I didn’t look, but I’m guessing the engine starts up in four kicks. I really enjoy watching someone that knows everything about what they’re working on. Some guys could have that bike for a decade and look at it and tinker with it and never come close. You guys just tackled it, every system, every part and banged it out quick.
for lack of an educated guess, I am going toss out the lucky number 13 one for every sibling, Great work and a great site as they say a professional makes their work seem easy. I am glad I stumbled onto your you tube site.
I'm impressed, Matt you Rule Man. I wish I had 100,000,000 percent of your knowledge. I would consider myself a lucky man. You guys Rock my world Brothers. Thanks a heap for sharing and explaining by walking through everything. WTT is a blessing 🤘
Your Dad is looking down and is wondering, "why didn't I find that!?" You are doing his legacy right. Met your Dad years ago in Marion. Pretty obvious you inherited his graciousness.
Absolutely love everything you do and i hope I actually get to come and see yall haven't been to Tennessee since 2010 when I came up for family reunion i pray I can come see yall this time
To me, it would be honor just to touch a piece of history like that bike. If it could talk, imagine the stories it had. I dont own any old bikes, but when people ask me why i ride a harley? I tell them im riding history. To me, it's all of our history. Thank you for posting these videos.
Smiling! You remind me of a friend of mine in Kansas City Missouri area now in Camden point mo. PJ aka Phil Jennings, knew more about Harley's than anyone I knew.
I discovered this again and have now subscribed. And am not into Harleys or bikes really. They need 4 wheels! Though my brother runs the workshop in a major dealer and my father rode Triumphs and Ariels before I was born 70 years ago. But I like the presentation and the knowledge of the show.
Hey Brent, I just bought a 66 nova wagon, needs work, just sanded the surface rust off the body and put a coat of primer on it, your video gave me a few ideas on the best way to do it...enjoyed the video...Ralph
Man, that's something I really like about you.. For a lot of people their mantra is "if it ain't broke don't fix it!" and they'll just leave it as it is and start it and ride it and end up breaking something.. But you want to know what you have and make sure there's nothing broken or about to get broken before starting it. That's much more my style, like how I pulled apart my great uncle's 1961 Ruger 22 before really shooting it so I could make sure it was fully cleaned and properly lubed before I put a bunch of rounds through it.. which absolutely pissed my father off when I was struggling to put it back together. (turns out their recoil spring is a complete pain to set right.. when we did get it back together we ended up setting it tighter than it was and the thing actually kicks even just being a 22LR.. oh well I guess, better practice for a bigger pistol) I'm definitely one of those people that can't leave "well enough" alone, I want to know everything about whatever it is that I have.. though part of that is probably my autism. If only I didn't live in California and lived anywhere near you I'd probably be there hanging out all the time and taking you up on the bead blasting offer and maybe even do some welding/brazing for you if you needed it.
Your excitement is infectious and i can see your dad Dales enthusiasm and excitement around bikes in you. I also love the bikes made between 1920s and 1960s especially Harleys, indians BSA rigid A7 twins of 1949 and the original Triumph tiger 100 made in 19e9 with the very special bronze head, yes believe it or not they are so rare and were when they first made the speed twin in 1938 I do believe. My dad had one and had a sidecar on it. I wish he had kept it in the family but those times in the early 60s were very grey before the Beatles with many slums, flattened streets still from WW2. I remember Fred Warrs, the main dealer for Harley Davidson in Europe. It was very near to where i was born in East Fulham and I remember seeing old Harleys being ridden along the Kings Rd Chelsea when you could buy a house there for $10 k usd. Now its real estate gold with places now costing several million up. It would be great to get some old photos of Warrs with the bikes of yesteryear. What a beautiful red that 1951 Harley was painted in. I love these so much but only have a plastic model of one from america thats my favourite ornament and is over 35 years old.
A history of British machines but more recently '91 Sturgis and currently an '01 Fatboy. Started watching you fellas a month ago. Stunning degree of Knowledge based on History and wealth of experience.
O wow you guys are doing great stuff by saving history. Man I want a old Harley in the worst way. No matter how close i get to saving it’s always health issues that screws with my dream. Had a bike back in the day but got into a bad accident and was never able to back on two wheels. One day!🤘🏼
I remember when the came in 10 packs.. when I asked grandpa why he said if you were turning up a v8 you needed 10 cause at least 2 would be bad outta the box
i would have - left all the chrome on the bike and put the nickle carby + just like the owner did it way back ! nice show nice Bike = thank you well done !
Matt glad you are happy with our old Harley ! It was meant to be for you to have it. To many similar things about your Dad and my husband. I truly appreciate the shout out in your video. Honestly, it wasn’t necessary but greatly appreciated. Lifetime Donor 101/Norm
What do ya say Norm? " It's a dog eat dog world and I'm wearing milk bone underwear!"
Hey Norm, be proud you have some great ideas and you're willing to share them with other people! That's awesome!
Matt spoke of Dale and his backwoods cigars. I sat at WTT and smoked one with Dale and shared a conversation upstairs. Great day!❤❤
Truett and Osborn is in Wichita Kansas, not Topeka. Very cool old shop. Paul is still manning the counter. Great video!
doing a video on this shop can be great idea. i've a Truett & Osborn flywhell on my 347

To me, it would be honor just to touch a piece of history like that bike. If it could talk, imagine the stories it had. I dont own any old bikes, but when people ask me why i ride a harley? I tell them im riding history. To me, it's all of our history. Thank you for posting these videos.
What a team , they really work well together , I am amazed , Dale wow
Awesome job
I've of the only channels with drops over 30 minutes I'll actually watch.
I really need to come visit sometime
I look forward to these videos. Can’t wait for the day I come see the museum. Hopefully the same day I come pick up the raffle bike 😁😎🤞🏻
Thanks for sharing Matt. GREAT job as always
😊
It's good to see you again! I've missed the videos!
Smiling!
You remind me of a friend of mine in Kansas City Missouri area now in Camden point mo. PJ aka Phil Jennings, knew more about Harley's than anyone I knew.
This summer I’m going to ride my bike from SE TN to your museum. I can’t wait to take it all in.
FINALLY!!! Man I was looking for a reverse on my clutch to back and watch a new Wheels Through Time!!! Hell yeah love me some new episodes!
Great video I’m not a fan of Harley Davison but love motor bikes. As a rider for 30 years in Australia
I discovered this again and have now subscribed. And am not into Harleys or bikes really. They need 4 wheels!
Though my brother runs the workshop in a major dealer and my father rode Triumphs and Ariels before I was born 70 years ago.
But I like the presentation and the knowledge of the show.
Wheels through time best way to end the day
You guys are my favorite channel along with tatro machine...
First time watching. I used to watch your pop's.. Great video ..Really cool journey with the 51 couldn't be in better hands..
Best today. My water .......
Old school.
Love it God bless ❤ mick Australia 🇦🇺
I am so jealous. I haven't rode a hand shift, foot clutch in over 50 years but I was right there with you.
love the content, amazing the knowledge you can recall. Can tell you've done this a time or two.
I'm getting the great Allen Millyard vibes there @18:45 !
As a Harley fan and rider that only lives 15 minutes from you and wheels through time I’ve definitely gotta start coming by more often
Totally worth watching,2. Great to see ya . You and slick are giving Hollywood a run for it's money 😂😂😂
One day!🤘🏼
WHAT A DEAL...Its alive its alive....Thanks Matt & Chris for the awesome video 👍
Old F-4 Shoe🇺🇸
First time here, loved it. If Ken , the older man you referred to is your dad, call him dad, he earned that title.
A few good memories of summers past. Loved riding with everyone
That was great, loved every minute. Thanks!
There’s a lot of strike marks on the old carb bowl ❤
Great job guys ❤
Wife and I are going to the smokies in June I am looking forward to visiting the museum !
I thought I would die laughing. "I would use a stick before I used a Champion spark plug!"
I haven't heard that one in decades.
I remember when the came in 10 packs.. when I asked grandpa why he said if you were turning up a v8 you needed 10 cause at least 2 would be bad outta the box
Amazing 1901... with new rubber
i would have - left all the chrome on the bike and put the nickle carby + just like the owner did it way back ! nice show nice Bike = thank you well done !
I have never seen so many old Harley’s and parts..great show.
