I really hope the next generation of bike builders are paying close attention to Billy. I know there are a ton of builders out there....but how many show you the bare bones way to do your work? How many of them have the busted knuckles and stories that Billy has? Billy and Indian Larry (RIP) have always been the bar in my book! These videos rock! Great job Billy!
Brian I second your comment
👍👍👍😜🏴🦄🦕😁✌🤞
Beautiful to read, thank you sir
I know I am
Billy you said you hoped you taught us something today. You teach me something every time I watch one of your videos. Thank you my brother take care and stay safe.
Love that you're doing these RUclips videos, I'm a big fan from back in the day when you first appeared on Discovery. Really cool watching these videos and learning something along the way. 👍🏼
Same
Absolutely
To me this is even better than the biker build off series. There's no time crunch, no cake decorating. Kind of a tutorial & very satisfying.
Same here. Great content
Thumbs up from Italy man !
Seriously appreciate how you show how to get things done without expensive tools cause you can obviously use whatever you want.
Love the old evo harleys. One day I want one just like either of those 2. I remember biker build off and glad you are doing well.
These '90s Evolution Softails were some of my favorite Harley-Davidsons of all time and especially the Springers! So sad that Harley-Davidson discontinued these frontends on these beautiful machines! I've personally always loved the looks of the Springers, Indian Leaf Spring Girders and various other frontends like these, even Jesse Rooke was making and selling a great looking girder too!
Billy you are such a great teacher, you explain everything step by step to your viewers. You are a master that takes the time to mentor us your fans and viewers. I cant tell you how much I enjoy your videos! Keep them coming!
My brother and I used to use floor anchors and ratchet straps to change springs, well I guess we still would if we ever had to change them again. I don't get anybody wanting springers now a days, everybody seems to be on baggers now a days. Great video thanks for sharing man.
This guy is a bad ass!!! OG bike builder. Loved him on biker build off, always watched him. My favorite quote from him......”this is gonna be bigger than gold teeth” lol
Beautiful results!!
Watched the build and am inspired to change up my dyna low.
Thank you.
Thanks Billy for all you do and for Taking the time to show us all these cool tricks and letting us in on the company's your getting your parts and kits!!! 🤛
Billy, you're a good teacher, clear on the how to, and step by step information. Thanks for sharing.
You are one hell of a good guy. I started watching you when I was young and now that I am 38 watching you again, it makes me appreciate the knowledge. You're the gift that keeps on giving. I'm have been a career mechanic and I owe it to people like you. Who set a good example for people like me when I was just outta high school
Billy just want to say thank you for taking the time to make these videos. Myself and I’m sure 1000s of others appreciate the chance to be able to learn from these. I love how you really go into detail about what your working on and how the bike works. Keep up the good work bro. 👊🏻
Man after everything your still just a inspiration and great mechanic thanks for the videos
Thanks for making content for the everyday guy, we all know what you are capable of building but the fact that these videos will help your everyday bike guy serves a greater good! Thank you.
It would be so cool working in that shop with Billy. He’s never stopped doing his thing. 👍🏽👍🏽
Jumping in here also to thank you for doing these videos. You inspired me back in the day to get back into motorcycles. I've been having fun working on bike for many years now, and love getting ideas and seeing tips that you do. Thanks!
I have always been a huge fan of your work from those great Chopper build competitions. The subtle changes you made to your Bad Boy turned it into a very classy looking machine. Watching your work is an excellent learning experience. Your explanations are for everyone from the experienced builder to the backyard learner. Thank you...
I've been following you for years, your videos have helped me tremendously as I work on my softtail. I have 2, 1995 and a 1998. Your custom work is amazing. Keep up the good work!
The thing I admire about you and Jesse is that you both are capable of just building or making a bike. I think I remember Jesse saying once that if he wanted a new bike he'd just build it. I just love that knowledge of metal working.
Your videos are so well done with your incredible knowledge and experience that you share so well as you perfectly describe each phase! Thank you for that and always impressed by how much you know about doing what you do! Amazing and inspirational. I don't even own a motorcycle, anymore, just love watching a real craftsman doing quality wrenching on machinery! Wish you were back on TV!
Thank you, take care, and keep those videos coming!
Thanks for the strap method of spring compression. That’s why I watch your vids everyday. I like the way you teach. Not condescending just pure bike knowledge!
Now day's Billy they say " RAD AF " ! And it kinda helps to have the right tools , and know what you're doing !
I appreciate the way you articulate what you are doing. You have no false pretense just bad to the bone how to. It doesn't get much better than that. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Love the video! Very educational. I started riding in the early 90ties, owning two Springers back to back. Almost 30 years later I’m back on a Springer after owing a Panhead, a Shovelhead, Evo and Twin Cam’s between. May look for a Shovelhead again and put a Springer in it!
I just graduated from MMI, took late model Harley. You are one hell of a teacher and very well articulated when sharing knowledge/information.
You and a handful of others from the early 2000s were an inspiration; even if the school is just learning how to service OEM bikes, it was still neat.
I've been wrenching on bikes since I was a teenager in the 70's. Had everything from BSA's, Triumphs, Norton, Japanese, and now Harley's. I like the way you explain what you're doing and why as you go along, a true mark of an expert builder. You Make these videos fun...Thanks Billy....
96 first year electronic speedo. I’ve got a 95 and 96. Love your work. Ben a fan since the 90’s
I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge of these bikes it’s very helpful when planning upgrades on on my own bike.
Love you Billy. You have taught me so much, Had the pleasure of meeting you many years ago. I sold my business and working from home, loving life. Cheers brother
I can really appreciate the way you explain every detail of your work, bro Great video.
You can tell the quality of the instruction by the number of times you pause Billy and rewind so you don’t miss anything. Thanks, Man.
Damn man I remember being like 13 and 14 watching u build a bike on discovery channel now I’m 31 with my own Harley it’s good to see u still doin your thing man I def learn a thing or 2 watchin u thanks for the content
if i had a spare cnc lathe and mill you would have them. watching that ole lathe is what i learned machining on. hand sharpen carbide cutters,,,nightmares. i would never have thought in a million years that Billy Lane would be on youtube. Believe me the tricks you are passing on will not be forgotten if people pay attention. Thank You Billy Lane
1996 is when the speedos went electronic. Great how to video, thank you for sharing.
Billy these videos you do are WAAAAY better than the “biker build offs”
Slower paced. I’m learning more tricks of the trade
and no manufactured drama!
Keep ‘em coming 👍
Hey whatever works ! I'm a garage mechanic. Always do my own work ! Love tinkering and learning. I may have to do something a few times but I'll get it !
Good Job Billy !
Hi Billy, I'm a fan since the biker build off days. Nice to see you back and glad you didn't let what happened in the past dictate your future. Much respect and rubber side down. Take it easy, Jon Captain
You're a master at what you do Billy.
I THINK I saw a "Craftsman" wrench....and I LOVE it.
Good for you. I returned to using Craftsman for most of my wrenches.
I haven't found enough info on the internet on springers with a 23" wheel till this. I put a 23" on mine and the attitude is looking a bit strange and figured someone must have lowered their springer with a 23. Burly here we come. Thanks Billy!
It brakes & handles so much better. HD runs the wheel off-center, but I run the 23 right up the middle
Never been a fan of springers but after watching you transform these 2 bikes I think it’s time I add one to the collection. Drag bars, lowering them, and the 23 wheel is a look I can’t stop staring at. Looking forward to seeing you do the 6 speed gearbox conversion on your 95.
I have learned so much from your channel. Thank you very much Billy you’re a good man.
Very cool Billy. Nice to see hand craftsmanship. Thanks for sharing, Dennis.
Awesome, I've got a 1996 FX Springer! Thanks for the hacks Billy! ❤
Common sense and talent... you have both. Somebody would be lucky to be your apprentice. Thanks for the vids!!!
Love it Mr. Lane. Been following you for yrs... best channel on the tubes.. remember NEVER BAIL, WHEN IN DOUBT THROTTLE OUT. Respect from West Texas
Great tip with the straps, now I need to get a springer and put a 23 on it. Looks fantastic!!
You find the coolest bikes to work on 100%
Gold, thank you so much for these videos billy, they are very much appreciated. Thank you
Thanks for the awesome video Billy. Think I’m going to have to give this sprinter project a go myself. Please keep putting out the content. Great stuff and super educational.
Good to watch a no BS how it's done , like your process .
I'm glad you did this video, i just want to change the springs for new shiny ones you just showed me an easier way to do it,thanks a ton
Watching Billy work & explaining in layman's terms along the way reminds me of you're old buddy Indian Larry fabricate.Heck yea ,if you can use the motorcycle straps to you're advantage why not..Looks good Billy!
Love factory Harley paints, especially the 98’s
Miss the dreadlocks!! I really dig being able to watch you again, outside of Discovery, little more up close and personal but still a Legend.
Work smarter not harder. Very nice. Thank you Billy.
So awesome bro...glad to see you're doing these videos and it definitely helps me with my bike. Thanks again
Always wondered about lowering springer. You taught me lots today. Also again. I appreciate you showing the non specialty tool way. Lots of us im sure may do this once or twice. So buying specialty tools isnt worth it. Thanks Billy! Oh i also cant wait til my son gets a little older so he can wrench with me. Oh im from the bei g trickey as f. Days.
Glad to help
Billy LANE we need you.Larry's death and so on.we need heroes like you.the episode of the build off between you and Larry always gets me motivated again to keep going on my roadking.
Don't understand most of what you are doing but it sure is fun watching a real craftsman.
Hey, Billy. Love these vids. I'm learning soooo much. Thank you for taking the time to make these, I know u are busy. 🤘
I’d love to put a 23” wheel on my 97 Fatty. I appreciate you sharing all of this video gold.

Lowered bikes look so much better than stock.
I like the look of lowered with a fat back tire 👍👍

Wow, the 23" wheel changes the whole look of the front end.

Those 23's really add to the overall look!

Truly enjoying these videos. I learn from every video. Glad to see you not stopping the headstock with your hand in this one haha. My metal shop teacher long ago would have had our ass

Oh juhaptergee, sat riveted again to my chair watching Billy the master in his element, wow that lathe has so much character, bet it has many a tail to tell, maerhagisaryrdyrt
