Left hand played too heavily inadequate tone control, typical in this piece when played by a right handed pianist. Chopin was most likely left handed. When he played 4 hands piano with someone else he always insisted on occupying the lower register. Both A. Cortot and A. Rubinstein play it better and their recording still does not meet Chopin's expectation.
Beautiful interpretation. Gives full importance to left hand in final section and uses the pedal brilliantly and in a varied fashion to get expression and clarity! Plus all music and no showy pianistic tricks, and meticulously played.
Murray Perahia, who lives in London, is one of the finest musicians of the last 60 years. Thank you to Classical Vault 3 for this and other pieces in the same concert, which can be found online.
The lilting opening motif obviously excited Chopin enough to directly (in the same key of F#) reuse it as the basis of his Barcarolle toward the end if his life and career.
Murray's interpretation of Chopin's works is so underrated. Always gave me new inspiration.
some of the best....
A beautiful and often ignored work of Chopin! Perahia’s interpretation is breathtaking!
It's hard to imagine how a piano could sound any more beautiful than this.

Its awesome, Murray Perahia is an amazing pianist
As far as I konw, this performance is the most attractive and irresistible. It reminds me of my good old days and makes me happy. Thank you.
Such a lovely humble man.
Incredibly beautiful and heartfelt ♥️

Beautiful.....
Impromptus impromptu even if first one, fantasie impromptu, Schuberts impromptu is very good
I think he do it best and l am sorry Rubinstein
Ahahah.. I think the same. Sorry my beloved Arthur
The piano sounds like the string section of an orchestra at times.
I don't know what that interpretation is but it's not Chopin.
It is chopin...
I second that
What an incredibly ignorant comment.
Did he died?
No
