- GEORGES (GYORGY) CZIFFRA PLAYING CHOPIN'S SECOND IMPROMPTU ON THE STAGE OF HIS FONDATION CZIFFRA AT SENLIS NEAR PARIS. THE IMPROMPTUS ARE ONE OF HIS FINEST CHOPIN RECORDINGS.
Poetic, beautiful...
Yes indeed - a different Cziffra to the fiery Lisztian virtuoso.
The true Cziffra !!
Outstanding, and perhaps rarely matched in recent pianistic history, is his elegant, measured rubato. Where there may be a tendency to slow down at the ends of phrases, he never does just that without a Chopinesque stretto moving towards it. That is why there is the satisfaction of the meter not being violated in the overall concept.

This is a wonderful recording. Thanks for sharing.
my favorit impromptu, beautiful...
btw it must be cold in the chapel,
you can see his breath
So it was la chaise dieu
It was. We Can glimpse thé tapestries near the end of the video
One of Chopin's greatest, owing mainly to the section at 1:48.....BRAVO!
Grazie. Ciao :-)
Georges Cziffra ne joue pas ici à Senlis, mais en l'abbatiale de La Chaise-Dieu (Haute-Loire)
Exactement, Jean-Luc.
I believe it was in la chaise dieu not senlis
il lisztiano si sente ancora sotto.... infatti le volate del finale sono articolate e non perlacee. lontane quindi da quanto sognava chopin
