    amazingly performed...such relaxation of hands and technique while perfectly expressing the beauty of the composition.

      Yes not bad but he plays very academically like a midi file and does not go far enough in expressiveness. It sounds jaded and under a glass window in a museum, not like Chopin making a live deeply human major theatrical musical performance. Cortot does better in tone, musicality and artistry. Trifonov is only better in technique but trails all the other points. Although i give him a point for that pianissimo he achieves in the 2nd repeat of the last virtuoso section. Cortot's teacher also not a famous pianist was a direct student of Chopin, and occupied an academic position in the Paris conservatory. This means he would have known something about listening directly to Chopin's own playing even if he may not have been able to reproduce it at the piano, talking about it and describing it to Cortot in French language rich in details, probably pointed Cortot in the right direction. I personally believed that played a significant role in Cortot's ability to be the most musical performer of Chopin once you consider how he performed all Chopin, not just this piece.

      Avdeeva won that year, so like, I mean, Trifonov is absolutely amazing, but to me, Yulianna plays just as well but has much more distinctive style, like you can always tell it's her. She really has a sound of her own that is unlike anyone else's. I can totally understand why you'd award her instead of Trifonov. It's not like 3rd place is some sort of a snub, and he won Gold at Tchaikovsky the year after.

      @@AshleyPaul it’s the other way around. Yulianna is a good player but she sounds generic and safe. Daniil has an Electric edge bordering on Lisztian flare.

    F-Sharp major is a difficult key to perform in. It's six out of seven sharps ( black keys).

    • @chasesutherland1168
      @chasesutherland1168 3 года назад +8

      not really. For pianists keys with more black keys are easier because it fits the natural hand.

      Sharps are not necessarily black keys. F# major has an E#, for example.

      @@chasesutherland1168 yeah, white keys are much harder

      Keys with multiple sharps/flats may look hard due to the sheer amount of them that can be found, but these keys can be easier to play, like even chopin taught the B major scale to students because he believed it fit the hand perfectly when you played the scale, and it has 5 sharps.

    it seems easy to play this piece when you Don't respect any rythm remove silence and change the tempo as you like, of course he is skillfull but playing like this in a school would make you fail your exams, I'm digusted

      Really??? Can you play this piece better? I bet Trifinov's rhythm and timing is better than yours. His rhythm and timing are exceptional.he handles rubato exquisitely.
