    Eric is telling a story with his beautiful singing tone. He is a poet of the piano. A very talented pianist. All the best Eric in your career.

    Wow! The cadenza at the end was the most fiery and probably the best I have ever heard.
    His face is so expressive I feel his emotion with him, drawing me deep inside the bitter-sweet poetry of the music. And the first notes at the start were so commanding, saying, 'don't worry, I've got this one'.

    Gorgeous interpretation. Full of feeling and subtlety. I think Chopin would have been very happy to hear his music being played so beautifully.

    Janvier 2020 Cette barcarolle est si prenante. Pour moi elle raconte l’histoire de quelqu’un à la recherche d’un souvenir lointain, d’un bonheur évanoui et qui peu à peu revit sous les doigts du pianiste. Mais il ne faut rien brusquer, alors que l’espoir est si fort.
    Du grand art, merci à Eric Lu pour son interprétation magistrale.

      @@Algorox Genius requires novel thought and creativity. It was a great performance. But simply repeating what someone else wrote is not genius..

      @@okeen5265 It's not simply a "repeat". It's not the same as reading a novel. He fully respects Chopin's writing while incorporating his own color. His interpretation is undoubtedly genius.

    7:45 if there ever were a passage of music to be defined at "ethereal" Chopin surely composed it right at this moment. Simply awe-inspiring.

    An absolute joy to listen to. He easily could have gotten first. But IMO all of the top 5 as well as K.Ksiazek (who didnt make it to the finals) could have won

      Terrific performance. It stands comparison with the immortal version by Dinu Lipatti, which is very high praise indeed. Best of luck in your international career, Eric! I hope to see you in person some day.

    he made a mistake but I found his playing Bacarolle op.60 nice - really soft, and emotional.

    Man.. 7:12 was just lazy. He had no energy at that crucial section in my opinion.

      I think he must have had a laps of concentration there because there is also some wrong note grazing just after 7.12. Having said that I think overall the piece is wonderfully played on the best Yamaha I have ever heard!

      I would not say none, or lazy, but it is slightly let down compared with many others. Some however do it with even more of a dropoff. I bet this is how he conceives it, actually. I have heard this kid play it with much less polish, but yes, performing is tough. Has anyone here heard Haftman?

      As I was listening up until that point I was thinking, “wow this is absolutely perfect!” and then THAT…Overall it was beautiful and I will definitely find myself listening to Eric Lu’s interpretation of this piece, a flawless performance at that one ;). Shouldn’t be hard to find!
