I keep coming back to Charles Richard-Hamelin’s performance of the Barcarolle. It’s just beautiful.
The best barcarolle on youtube
A happy pianist! He was alive in the music. It was joyful to witness. Thanks for posting.
Sounded so clearly and expressive.
This is truly a splendid piece played expertly by Charles....and I'm beginning to love these Yamaha C series Pianos he is playing!!
CF.
This is the CX series, better than the C series.
@@carnivalcruiserbill @jamesnitzberg8405 and what's even better...this is the TOP model,the CFX
Bravissimo Charles. Poétique et majestueux. Merci tellement. Longue vie et bonheurs à profusion.
He good plays Chopin. Thanks. it was a great performance.
A masterful performance of this masterpiece! Bravo!
An outstanding performance !!! This is certainly a pianist to watch for the future.
I would prefer to watch him in the present. :)
ハムランさんの演奏大好きです。キラキラして珠のような音で、またとっても優しい響きがする。英雄は、一位の方より好みでした。
잘 어울리는 곡인듯!! 넘 좋은 연주!
my favorite performance.superb sounds.
Bravo!!
bravo!
Gran talento. Un'interpretazione di altissimo livello. Mi ricorda Krystian Zimerman.
C'est bien enlevé et plein de talent ! Bravissimo !
Bravo!
This man is a truly great pianist! Wonder why he didn't take first place in the Chopin Competition?
He got second, so he was very close. Both him and Cho performed excellently.
He got second place because he played Concerto no.2. Concerto no.2 only one once in the history of the competition I think, it just gives you negative points by default because it's considered easier.
RobinLSL I really don’t think judges would consider him as 2nd just because he chose concerto No.2. You can say that No.1 has more difficult technics, but whether a pianist plays well is always depends on the interpretation. Additionally, for pianists that are in the finals of Chopin competition, technics aren’t problems.
Chopin could do NO wrong! This maestro gets into this piece to flesh it out beautifully. PWG
It is true that contestants choose the concerto n1 over the n2 more often, but a lot of pianists and even winners chose the 2nd concerto so he is certainly not the first one.
Quite the showpiece, not my favorite Chopin piece at all thought. Incredibly well played, extremely difficult.
Bravoo
Hermosa obra
Meisterhaft!!!
Could anyone tell me what kinds of the yamaha he played? C series or G series or sth else?
+Pine Phạm This piano is the CFX
+Gabriel Durliat having played the CFX and the Steinway D I can say that they are both fantastic. i think I prefer the CFX though
Tùng Phạm It's a CFX3
Yamaha's best and most expensive piano! (and latest model)
@Leera Pniki: Latest model is the SX. CFX (2010), CX (2012), SX (2017). CFX is most expensive and best. CX replaces C.
@retrogamerdave I find it depends on the individual pianos and halls in any grand piano choice. Generally the CFX is a more lyrical, delicate yet precisely articulating piano that gets powerful if pushed. The Steinway a powerhouse that has a bell-like tone. Very lush at times with a very powerful bass and strong upper treble. The Fazioli that only a few contestants played is fantastic as well, full of different dimensions in its sound. And the Shigeru SK-EX is also very fine, a velvety beautiful instrument. For some reason, most of the contestants played the CFX or Steinway. Maybe familiarity or action.
This is a very solid performance; however, 1:30 there are a few incorrect notes.
Seu lugar é na primeira colocação!
Ive never heard of chopin's Barcarolle, what exactly is it? Some kind of ballade or nocturne?
+Hannah-Kate Duchesne A Barcarolle is a composition, generally written in 6/8 time, which takes its inspiration from the Venetian gondoliers’ folk songs. “Barca” in Italian means boat.
I've always regarded it more as one of Chopin's most elaborate extended NOCTURNES than anything else, myself. It's expressive character seems more in that vein than that of any of the other forms in which Chopin excelled.
Perfectly true, Cordelia, but CHOPIN's Barcarolle is certainly UNIQUE among others in the genre.
Shosty Appreciater no it is a barcarolle
@@hyramesshiramess1035 could be the most heartbreaking yet significant piece Chopin had ever written tbh
Really superb ! Wonderful rendition, but to be honest I must say that I personally prefer Aimi's rendition. And I'm not saying this to be mean, but I like her feminine touch, softness of movement and her cadenza ....It's just personal preference I guess because you do perform this piece so well. Excellent performance Charles.... Worthy of praise!
Who played it better? Charles Richard-Hamelin or Eric Lu?
Greer Fried trick question. Answer is Rubinstein
@@TG-nh7sh No. Rubinstein's rubato soTo tunded artificial several times in this piece. To my ears this was one of Rubinstein's least successful interpretations.
Lipatti for my money but I enjoy Charles's version here.
without a doubt the best interpretation is Zimerman's
@@TG-nh7sh Rubinstein is overrated.
😱😭😘
How in the hell did he not win 1st prize?
davidofpiano423 seong jin cho is way better
No, just he did 2-3 mistakes more than Seong-Jin Cho in the final.
Seong-Jin Cho'ed all over his face
I legit thought he was Marc Andre Hamelin's son/grandson
wowowowowowowowowowow yesyesyesyesyesyesyes :DDDDDDDD
Bro....
The pianists are so good! Why are they forced to play on a piano thats to harsh for Chopin? Its a good piano but not suited for Chopin!
They choose the piano
