Hello All! Thanks for the updates in the comments. We looked a bit further into this and the odd thing is that Acer is selling both in PARALLEL whereas the late 2019 now has a new updated price and an RTX 2060 (2019 came with GTX graphics). Its really bizarre but this IS the 2020 model....even though its also a late 2019 model in many ways. There is no 2020 model with the new red accents + this config.

people still compare it with asus tuf a15 and HP Pavilion Gaming 15. while tuf A15 is actually has poor cooling, i don't see any flaws to HP Pav 15 (it has 144hz screen with same price as nitro 5 in my country). Do you guys has any further insight?

@@modernlogix pavilion actually come with 1650 here in indonesia, and cost the same with nitro 5... both of them cost about $850 (yeah being in 3rd world country sucks), and it is currently the cheapest gaming laptop with 1650. i don't actually concern in spec, i know that R5 4600h with GTX 1650 had the most bang for the buck... my only concern is the build quality such as screen quality, battery, durability, longetivity.
Happy to see a budget laptop review at sub $1000 dollars. I consider budget to be between 500 and 700 dollars, with like lower-end 1050s or the 1650 variants. It would be interesting to see a review of one of those...

@@AhmedMahmoud-mx1xp you need to download something called brute force basically the pc is automatically set to run games trash for some reason useing. Brute force you can set the pc to run games at high-performance keep in mind your pc may heat up and the fans are pretty loud but everything will work fine would recommend upgrading the ram for even better performance also press the big n on your laptop keyboard when that loads up press high-performance with brute force you can manually set the pc to 60 FPS but even at 60 FPS you could still get 80 FPS my pc was automatically set at 20 FPS So press the big n on your keyboard set everything to high-performance Then download brute force make a account then go on brute force settings and set your pc to 60 FPS instead of the default 20 FPS

Everyone yelling how this is a 2019 model: This is a model released in 2020 using the 2019 design (because of the 9th gen CPU / motherboard) alongside the 2020-design 2020 models. That's why this looks like the 2019 ones and not the Intel 10th gen model
i get your point.. but majority of people here want to see the actual New 10th gen / zen 2 in nitro 5, especially that R5 4600h, which outperform any other competitor in price to performance ratio
Price seems to have come down a bit. Mine was $1130 from Newegg. 16gb RAM, 2060 and 512gb SSD. Ive been wanting a laptpp for a few years now and this is definitely the absolute best value out there. I've looked at, at least ~100 different laptops and the Nitro cant be beat.
Great video! I landed what most likely is the best gaming laptop deal in history yesterday. My local WalMart (yes...that place) had put all of their MSI gaming laptops on clearance. When I went they'd sold them all. However, they had a display MSI GE63 Raider (core i7 9750h. 32gb RAM, RTX 2060 6gb, 512gb SSD NVMe, 1 TB HDD, 144hz display). It was in perfect shape and had never even been powered on. I bought it for $850 out the door. I couldn't believe it. Too bad they didn't have any more or I'd have bought another.
I have the 2019 Intel model and it's probably the best thing I've spent my money on. Only problem with it is that the screen is dull as hell but that doesn't matter if you're gonna hook it up to a monitor.
@@Adrien_broner yes and no...my game definitely runs a lot smoother but it gets reallly hot..im talking hot to touch (lotta hot air blown thru the vents) The space it comes with is a bit low but its expandable I jus havent done so yet. The trackpad is a bit funny in terms of its location , its more to the left than the centre so i miss the left click so much times...it also feels like it how do i put this...its grease and dust prone..dust collects prettty easily and my fingertips seem extra oily for some reason..in terms of gameplay, aside from the heat (prolly cuz my games so demanding) my game can run at 60 frames at ultra high graphics no problem..hope that helpss
oooh yh and running two to three demanding apps simultaneously like my game, streamlabs and photoshop even just my game and streamlabs causes lagging in the apps aside from my game...its better to play my game windowed..minimizes the lagging of other apps
@@modernlogix 9750H is a good chip. Its what my msi gf 65 rtx 2060 is rocking. A 10th gen wouldn't be able to undervolt so the 9th gen is necessary to UV and have good thermals.
I bought this laptop 2 weeks ago and it runs amazing with any game I play on it, I played league of legends, apex legends, CSGO, Valorant and Halo Reach and I had no problems with the performance and the visuals whatsoever, totally recommend if you are at a tight budget or if you want a gaming laptop at any price. Also I use this laptop for college and never had a problem, totally recommend if you need a laptop for school and gaming.
I need to say this was a great review and very detailed. I have been debating this exact model for the past week or so.. found it with the 512ssd still the i7 9750, 16gb ram rtx2060 etc.. for $999. My question is if given the option would you go with this one.. or spring the little step higher for the Helios 300 you mentioned with the 10th gen i7. How does that laptop differ/compare with essentially this maxed out nitro 5 especially in regards to the build quality and aspects where the nitro is a bit lower than your average.

I have the entry-level model (4600H/1650). It’s insanely good for the price. I added a second stick of RAM and a 960GB Team GX1 for storage and I’m confident it’ll hold me over for some time.
@Eber Can't stress it enough that it isn't the 2020 model. the 2020 model has rgb backlit keyboard, red accents on the back grille and also has a completely different thermal design. :/
Yes and no. On one hand this is a carry over from 2019 into the 2020 model year with a new GPU. On the other hand the options you listed above aren't available with a 6-core chip or RTX 2060 from our understanding.

I've had mine for a few weeks now, 10th gen i7, GTX 2060, and 16 GB RAM. Mostly been playing beam ng and it runs great! Over 100 fps on high graphics settings. Would recommend to anyone for a great budget gaming computer

I'm not sure about the new models, but I had an older model (bought in 2018) and in just a bit over 2 years a few of the keys on the keyboard stopped working. Checking online forums I found that quite a few people had this issue. Please make sure the model you buy doesn't have this issue!
If you have like 200 dollar or 400 dollar laptop this will probably feel like a thousand to you. The refresh rate is so good. And I haven't had to change my settings to get the game to run. So I think it's definitely worth it
CyberNotic Two-Three years ago my friends all bought $500-$800 budget gaming laptops. All had at minimum an intel i5 or i7 CPU, and Nvidia 1050 or 1050Ti Dedicated GPU. (AMD Laptops were not as good back then). As of right now, all of our laptops have deteriorated in different but about equal ways. Acer provides the best performance value per dollar, but getting the SSD is highly recommend instead of the slower HDD hard drive. I chose MSi because it offered an intel i7 and SSD at lower cost to the Dell competition. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend the MSI that I bought because despite its better performance specs per dollar compared to Dell, 3 years later the screen has 4 white blotches (poor panel quality), I had to superglue the hinge to reinforce the lid hinge strength, and the bottom panel has 1 broken clip due to brittle plastics. My friends with Dell have higher laptop build quality but have things like chargers and trackpad go bad, and they paid more for less performance. 1 friend bought an Alienware that we all agree was just way too expensive. The Acer did have a problem with the charging cable sometimes not feeding power (due to constantly being pushed up against in a bad way) but it cost by far the least and had equal specs to everyone else. Given what I know now, would I have chosen MSI all those years ago? Yes, because I need and love my superfast SSD hard drives; and back then Acer did not have SSD’s. I was also way too poor to buy the more expensive Dell/Lenovo/HP gaming laptop with SSD at comparable specs. I just would have warned myself to be delicate with my laptop when opening/closing the internals, and I would have taken to foresight to superglue the lid hinge panels at the very first sight of any bad flexing and popping open With the Acer Nitro 5 now, not looking back
Saw it from Matthew Moniz's video that the Acer Nitro 5 had a few variations for 2020, one of them with the old build but upgraded spec. So, probably the Acer Nitro 5 reviewed in this video is indeed 2020 version. Cheers!

I know it has a bad color range, but I’ve had no problems with video and photo editing on this thing. The adobe suite runs great on it and I’ve been overall satisfied. So you definitely can do video/photo editing on here, don’t listen to him. I didn’t buy this to do those things explicitly-I did buy it to game btw. But if you do want to edit on here, know that it isn’t terrible.
that is really good to hear. I'm going into college and I'm majoring for graphic communications. I got this laptop as a gift and I couldn't be more impressed with it to be honest. It is a very simple and straight forward laptop. Yes, I do game on it but I'm really excited to see what I can do with these editing software's. I personally really like this a lot.

What Stage is that race in? Also I'd recommend looking into last-gen Lenovo Legion laptops, they have great build quality and they don't look like a riced out machine

Just bought an Acer Nitro 5 i7 RTX 2060 1920x1080 144hz, 16gb ram, 1tb SSD. Just arrived yesterday. It runs Red Dead Redemption 2 in ultra settings full HD with a constant 120+ fps. The same goes for Death Stranding... (only two games I've tried so far). The only bad thing I have to say about this laptop is the built-in speakers aren't that great and the fans are quite noticeable during heavy workload on the system. But all in all, this is a killer laptop for the money. And I would recommend it to anyone wanting a gaming laptop not costing an arm and a leg...
One thing that I love about my Acer Nitro 5 is that no matter how fast the fans spin, they never have a wiring sound. It's just the pure rushing of air that is audible.

@@Juanilloelcrack Mine has an Intel i5 7300HQ and Nvidia GTX 1050 ti. It's a bit wimpy by today's standards. As good as the Nitro 5 is, I can't help but recommend that you go up to something even better, like the Helios series. The Nitro 5's cooling performance is not the best. I keep mine undervolted and on a laptop stand so it can breathe. With these tweaks, it stays between 75 and 80 degrees Celsius while gaming. It's much better than a Dell laptop's cooling, but it could be better.

I just purchased in Alberta an Acer Nitro 5 with i7 9750H. Geforce RTX 2060 GPU. 16 GB ram. 512 GB NVMe ssd strorage for $1471. Canadian dollars including tax. It's worth it.
I got it for $949.99 on end year sale and I absolutely adore it. Yes, the stock SSD is noticeably slow but I just simply change the Windows directory to an Adata XPG SX8200 1TB SSD and everything is working lightning quick. The design definitely could be much more simple and less "edgy". But yeah, it's definitely worth it for a budget "high-end" gaming laptop. In total, I spent $1100 for an RTX 2060 laptop with 144hz screen and 1.2TB storage. I've just watched LTT about the $700 Walmart rtx 2060 laptop, so if it's on sale you definitely should get your hands on that instead of this laptop.
fatal issues with many of the reviews is not taking into account the company engineers all the stuff to fit in a compact space and still not heatup. I am a electronics engineer and I know the pain. if the trackpad is offset there is a reason. only question is can you live with it when you buy. there is compromise in everything just chose a device you can live with happily.

A 2020 model costs around 700 at Best Buy but you'd have to get the i5 model though

Great video! I landed what most likely is the best gaming laptop deal in history yesterday. My local WalMart (yes...that place) had put all of their MSI gaming laptops on clearance. When I went they'd sold them all. However, they had a display MSI GE63 Raider (core i7 9750h. 32gb RAM, RTX 2060 6gb, 512gb SSD NVMe, 1 TB HDD, 144hz display). It was in perfect shape and had never even been powered on. I bought it for $850 out the door. I couldn't believe it. Too bad they didn't have any more or I'd have bought another.

I have the 2019 Intel model and it's probably the best thing I've spent my money on. Only problem with it is that the screen is dull as hell but that doesn't matter if you're gonna hook it up to a monitor.

@@Adrien_broner yes and no...my game definitely runs a lot smoother but it gets reallly hot..im talking hot to touch (lotta hot air blown thru the vents) The space it comes with is a bit low but its expandable I jus havent done so yet. The trackpad is a bit funny in terms of its location , its more to the left than the centre so i miss the left click so much times...it also feels like it how do i put this...its grease and dust prone..dust collects prettty easily and my fingertips seem extra oily for some reason..in terms of gameplay, aside from the heat (prolly cuz my games so demanding) my game can run at 60 frames at ultra high graphics no problem..hope that helpss
oooh yh and running two to three demanding apps simultaneously like my game, streamlabs and photoshop even just my game and streamlabs causes lagging in the apps aside from my game...its better to play my game windowed..minimizes the lagging of other apps
I got the 17.3 inch version and wow. Very upgradeable and it's pretty affordable. And not too heavy.

@@modernlogix 9750H is a good chip. Its what my msi gf 65 rtx 2060 is rocking. A 10th gen wouldn't be able to undervolt so the 9th gen is necessary to UV and have good thermals.

Actually, it is a 2020 model. What it ISN'T is a 2020 model with the design changes that were rolled into the Nitro 5's with the 10th Gen CPUs.

I bought this laptop 2 weeks ago and it runs amazing with any game I play on it, I played league of legends, apex legends, CSGO, Valorant and Halo Reach and I had no problems with the performance and the visuals whatsoever, totally recommend if you are at a tight budget or if you want a gaming laptop at any price. Also I use this laptop for college and never had a problem, totally recommend if you need a laptop for school and gaming.

I need to say this was a great review and very detailed. I have been debating this exact model for the past week or so.. found it with the 512ssd still the i7 9750, 16gb ram rtx2060 etc.. for $999. My question is if given the option would you go with this one.. or spring the little step higher for the Helios 300 you mentioned with the 10th gen i7. How does that laptop differ/compare with essentially this maxed out nitro 5 especially in regards to the build quality and aspects where the nitro is a bit lower than your average.
Would love to see a comparison between this and the 2020 Lenovo Legion 5i!!

I have the entry-level model (4600H/1650). It’s insanely good for the price. I added a second stick of RAM and a 960GB Team GX1 for storage and I’m confident it’ll hold me over for some time.

@Eber Can't stress it enough that it isn't the 2020 model. the 2020 model has rgb backlit keyboard, red accents on the back grille and also has a completely different thermal design.

Yes and no. On one hand this is a carry over from 2019 into the 2020 model year with a new GPU. On the other hand the options you listed above aren't available with a 6-core chip or RTX 2060 from our understanding.

I've had mine for a few weeks now, 10th gen i7, GTX 2060, and 16 GB RAM. Mostly been playing beam ng and it runs great! Over 100 fps on high graphics settings. Would recommend to anyone for a great budget gaming computer

I'm not sure about the new models, but I had an older model (bought in 2018) and in just a bit over 2 years a few of the keys on the keyboard stopped working. Checking online forums I found that quite a few people had this issue. Please make sure the model you buy doesn't have this issue!
If you have like 200 dollar or 400 dollar laptop this will probably feel like a thousand to you. The refresh rate is so good. And I haven't had to change my settings to get the game to run. So I think it's definitely worth it
I love the Acer Nitro 5. Dependable and Affordable. Not overpriced like Alienware and HP.
CyberNotic Two-Three years ago my friends all bought $500-$800 budget gaming laptops. All had at minimum an intel i5 or i7 CPU, and Nvidia 1050 or 1050Ti Dedicated GPU. (AMD Laptops were not as good back then). As of right now, all of our laptops have deteriorated in different but about equal ways. Acer provides the best performance value per dollar, but getting the SSD is highly recommend instead of the slower HDD hard drive. I chose MSi because it offered an intel i7 and SSD at lower cost to the Dell competition. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend the MSI that I bought because despite its better performance specs per dollar compared to Dell, 3 years later the screen has 4 white blotches (poor panel quality), I had to superglue the hinge to reinforce the lid hinge strength, and the bottom panel has 1 broken clip due to brittle plastics. My friends with Dell have higher laptop build quality but have things like chargers and trackpad go bad, and they paid more for less performance. 1 friend bought an Alienware that we all agree was just way too expensive. The Acer did have a problem with the charging cable sometimes not feeding power (due to constantly being pushed up against in a bad way) but it cost by far the least and had equal specs to everyone else.
Given what I know now, would I have chosen MSI all those years ago? Yes, because I need and love my superfast SSD hard drives; and back then Acer did not have SSD’s. I was also way too poor to buy the more expensive Dell/Lenovo/HP gaming laptop with SSD at comparable specs. I just would have warned myself to be delicate with my laptop when opening/closing the internals, and I would have taken to foresight to superglue the lid hinge panels at the very first sight of any bad flexing and popping open

Saw it from Matthew Moniz's video that the Acer Nitro 5 had a few variations for 2020, one of them with the old build but upgraded spec. So, probably the Acer Nitro 5 reviewed in this video is indeed 2020 version. Cheers!

I know it has a bad color range, but I’ve had no problems with video and photo editing on this thing. The adobe suite runs great on it and I’ve been overall satisfied. So you definitely can do video/photo editing on here, don’t listen to him. I didn’t buy this to do those things explicitly-I did buy it to game btw. But if you do want to edit on here, know that it isn’t terrible.
that is really good to hear. I'm going into college and I'm majoring for graphic communications. I got this laptop as a gift and I couldn't be more impressed with it to be honest. It is a very simple and straight forward laptop. Yes, I do game on it but I'm really excited to see what I can do with these editing software's. I personally really like this a lot.

What Stage is that race in? Also I'd recommend looking into last-gen Lenovo Legion laptops, they have great build quality and they don't look like a riced out machine

Just bought an Acer Nitro 5 i7 RTX 2060 1920x1080 144hz, 16gb ram, 1tb SSD. Just arrived yesterday.
It runs Red Dead Redemption 2 in ultra settings full HD with a constant 120+ fps. The same goes for Death Stranding... (only two games I've tried so far).
The only bad thing I have to say about this laptop is the built-in speakers aren't that great and the fans are quite noticeable during heavy workload on the system.
But all in all, this is a killer laptop for the money. And I would recommend it to anyone wanting a gaming laptop not costing an arm and a leg...

One thing that I love about my Acer Nitro 5 is that no matter how fast the fans spin, they never have a wiring sound. It's just the pure rushing of air that is audible.

@@Juanilloelcrack Mine has an Intel i5 7300HQ and Nvidia GTX 1050 ti. It's a bit wimpy by today's standards.
As good as the Nitro 5 is, I can't help but recommend that you go up to something even better, like the Helios series. The Nitro 5's cooling performance is not the best. I keep mine undervolted and on a laptop stand so it can breathe. With these tweaks, it stays between 75 and 80 degrees Celsius while gaming. It's much better than a Dell laptop's cooling, but it could be better.
Thanks for your recommendations, my budget wasn't that high so I actually got one but with a 10th Gen Intel Core i5-10300H processor and Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050. The total cost was around $850. There was a limited deal of $643 for it but I missed it 😭

I got it for $949.99 on end year sale and I absolutely adore it. Yes, the stock SSD is noticeably slow but I just simply change the Windows directory to an Adata XPG SX8200 1TB SSD and everything is working lightning quick. The design definitely could be much more simple and less "edgy". But yeah, it's definitely worth it for a budget "high-end" gaming laptop.
In total, I spent $1100 for an RTX 2060 laptop with 144hz screen and 1.2TB storage. I've just watched LTT about the $700 Walmart rtx 2060 laptop, so if it's on sale you definitely should get your hands on that instead of this laptop.
fatal issues with many of the reviews is not taking into account the company engineers all the stuff to fit in a compact space and still not heatup. I am a electronics engineer and I know the pain. if the trackpad is offset there is a reason. only question is can you live with it when you buy. there is compromise in everything just chose a device you can live with happily.
