    The Copic SP have a flow problem because the nib and ink well can be replaced. I know, I have some and loved them but noticed this problem and experimented a bit. Sometimes the ink cartridge pops out when I pull the cap off the back when in use. The pen was a good idea but some what poorly executed. It's why some artist actually bother with technical pens.
    Personally, I've found myself prefering the Faber-Castell pens. But always looking for the next best thing.

    Thanks for sharing! I'm looking for a ink pen, and Blick is not able to mail Copic products to my country... But, I decide to just buy the Wallet set of 8 by FB Pitt artist pen. I will see how those performs compare to my Pilot ink pens.

    Thanks for the great comparison video. I have both types of Copic pens and found your results interesting and I agree! Weird because the aluminum body are more costly. I like the nib in the less expensive ones better as well. Also, if you use Copic markers these pens are wonderful because they don't react with the ink from the markers so you can use them together safely. Thanks for another great video.

      Maureen Hayes Hi Maureen - Exactly right. I use the markers so the Copic pens here work great, but even with other mediums, I enjoy them. The Multiliners only drawback is they aren't refillable like the SP's. Love the nibs on them as well. Thanks for the kind comments as always and for checking out the video.

    Thanks for the comparison. I don't use any of the ones you compared, but then you can't get them all in one vid. I use the Sharpie Pen and Faber Castell Artist Pitt Pen. The latter is superior, but the former is great for fun stuff. Neither blotch or skip.

      muskndusk Hi There Muskndusk, I reviewed the FC Artist PITT's a while back and their great. I haven't used the Sharpie's much, I think they're made by Rubbermaid (Prismacolor). :-) Thanks for the comments and for checking out the video as always.

    I think the Staedtler Lumocolor pens are solvent based and designed for use on overhead transparency film rather than an artist's inking pen. The Derwent Graphik Line paint marker is water based and is great to use with a waterbrush to create dribbles and washes. I have some of the Copic Multiliner SP's and I can buy refills for them but the disposable Copic Multiliners do seem to out perform them for some reason!!

    • @owingsart
      @owingsart  9 лет назад

      Kaz Hobson Thanks Kaz. You're right about the Staedtler, although it says that it's suitable for almost any surface so I figured it'd be good to take a look at. I love that you can refill the Copic SP's, but I think the regular Multiliners are actually superior. Hey thanks for checking out the video and for the comments.

    I think your reviews are amazing. I am making a comic strip and to do the illustration I need a good Ink Pen. I did buy the derwent but it was a waste of money because they did not perform that good. Do you recommend the Copic Multiliner or any other. And if you rate the art product on a scale of 1-10 it would help. Thanks for taking the time to read my long comment.

      Shreykishore Bangera Hi Shreykishore - Wow! Thank you. I'd love to see some of your work. Yes, I agree about the Derwents, the ink flow wasn't great. I can strongly recommend the Copic Multiliner. The Multiliner SP is also good and is refillable, but the ink flow is not quite as good as the regular (non-refillable) Multiliner. I also like using the Sakura Pigma Microns and Uniball pens, although the Uniball's ink is not as lightfast (it can turn from black to brown over time). I will try to remember to rate them as you suggest.
      Thanks as always for your great comments and questions.

    Thanks for the comparison. I've been using the Faber-Castell PITT and the Multiliner SP and while the Faber one does have dropouts occasionally I get a very consistent flow from the Copi even when drawing fast; maybe its a bit arbitrary is the Copic has dropouts or not. I've the 0.25 mm SP though.

    Although the differences between these pens are minimal, my favourite ones were the old pilot drawing pens. I remember the shop didn't have them once so I bought a load of the copic ones and didn't like them as much. The uniformity of the line didn't suit my drawing style and having to purpose add description and texture felt a bit contrived. I'm the kind of artist who tries to achieve the broken line effect by whipping, and applying various amounts of pressure etc. A dip pen suits me style wise, but there is a messy issue, such as inksplats, cleaning requirements, constant dipping and blotting etc. The reason I place the pilot pens at first place above all else is because they lasted for years. I wouldn't touch the pens that bleed into the paper with a ten foot barge pole.
    I've recently tried the derwent ones and rather liked them. I don't know how long they last but I've ordered a set because I like the fact they come with a nice case.

      Hi Lee - I remember the old pilot pens and they were indeed great. I think the blacks would fade to a brown color under sunlight, after years, but that's the only drawback I can remember. The Copic's are excellent, but the tips can be soft and people seem to prefer the Staedtlers for tip durability. You're talking about the Derwent Graphix I think??? If so, I've used them with some success, but honestly still prefer the Staedtlers. Thanks for the notes and for checking out the video. Much appreciated. ~Marty

    What are your thoughts between the Copic vs PITT?

    • @owingsart
      @owingsart  9 лет назад

      My Panda Paints That's so hard... I love them both very much. Just to clarify, are you talking about the Copic pens or the Copic markers compared to the FC Pitt markers?

    • @mypandapaints5854
      @mypandapaints5854 9 лет назад

      Oops! I meant the pens vs pens.

    • @owingsart
      @owingsart  9 лет назад

      My Panda Paints Okay, sure. Well I prefer the Copic Pens to the FC Pens, but both are very good. I just prefer the Copic Multiliner because it is just more precise for me. Either way though it is very difficult to choose between two great pens.

    Thanks for the review Marty. I have been thinking about getting the Graphik line painters. Do you think it could have just been the size or maybe the black was a dud (for the Derwent)? They have a pretty good selection of colors it looks like and I am pretty interested in them. :)

    • @owingsart
      @owingsart  9 лет назад

      Shannon Sand Hi Shannon - That could be, but I've been reading that other people aren't happy with them either. It's too bad because they really have an opportunity here to get into the market as sketchers and others look for good quality pens. They're not terrible by any stretch, but you'd have to use them slowly to get the flow without any breaks. They're inexpensive, so it's not a huge risk to give em a try. I'd love to hear about your experiences if you do try them.

    • @Shannonishere
      @Shannonishere 9 лет назад

      I think I might try some of their colors. I'll let you know what I think of them. I agree It's a bit of a bummer to hear that about the Derwent graphik pens.
