    The pages need to be a much more delicate material in the paper journal. Like maybe, tissue, vintage book pages, handmade or mulberry paper... I actually thought the ones you prepared worked well with the denim cover. I also think on the pages you had prepared, it would work well if you stamped the even numbers on the reverse side of the pages 😊

And you just keep trying. I love the papers you made. I agree though that they would look good scrappy. So you could scrappy them up a bit? Whatever you decide, I’m sure it’s going to be gorgeous! If I may, I actually like these papers in the denim signature... the contrast of denim blue and the white makes a nice color combination. If you want to keep it in the paper slashed cover... maybe add some coffee splattering/smudging so it's less pristine white (it looks very stark white still on cam, despite the interest you have already added to it). As for ripping up the edges... you CAN def do that eventhough you have stitching all around, it will only add to the raggedy :) but maybe it will become too raggedy to your likings ^^ Looking foward to the follow up and decisions you make on these!

    Oh my gosh how gorgeous is that cover!!!!! I thought I loved the denim one but when you put that snippet roll on top of the paper one, my heart melted ❤❤❤. I loved the pages you made too, those numbers are just gorgeous. However, I agree they don't go with either cover. IMHO I think the denim one would look cool with pages that look like street art and the paper cover with pages that have vintage vibes and lace etc. Maybe the numbered pages would be better in a journal with a larger spine so you could add other pages between the watercolour ones. Whatever you do, I'm sure it will be amazing. It always is ❤ xxx

    I know it's quite a while past the posting of this video, but I'll comment anyway. I think, if you want a
    softer page (s) for these soft covers, a thinner paper with fabric on one side would be nice. I've made
    cloth books for kids, and they are a bit too unstructured, which makes me think that a combination of the
    cloth and paper would be nice. Thanks for sharing these awesome techniques with us! Hugs! Peggy

    As always I love your videos and can't wait to make a slashed journal cover. Use 3 of your already prepared watercolor papers a long with other papers to make 3 signatures. Rough up the edges of the watercolor papers with the edge of a pair of scissors. If the bright white of the watercolor paper is bothering you dye them with tea or coffee.

    Must admit, the thing I loved most about the denim cover, were the colours peeking out. So I was kind of hoping you’d layer colours in between. Maybe with an opaque paper that’s a similar colour to the covers so the in between bits would still show the effect of the map, but there would be lots of colour peeking out between rows. Of course, you could also just dab the tissue layers with distress sprays/inks to get some cool colours (you’re still cutting so I don’t know if you did that

    • @allisonjames2923
      @allisonjames2923 3 месяца назад +2

      The cover is actually beautiful the way it came out, especially with the snippet roll decoration. Some random strings of beads & crystals in neutral colours would make it absolutely perfect though. As it looks so delicate with its translucent layers, lace & threads

    • @allisonjames2923
      @allisonjames2923 3 месяца назад

      That’s a great idea. Momigami is a fantastic technique. I printed off a copy of a piece of papyrus that is one of the oldest surviving documents in the world, then used Momigami & some inks to age it. It is absolutely gorgeous! Especially because I actually used oxide inks on the back & some bled through to the front & mixed with the aged colour of the papyrus, giving it a unique & stunning effect

    Softer pages would be great in this waxed cover - sewing pattern paper sewn together with lots of lines of sewing or random stitching. What if you waxed different thin papers or a lace that has a tight pattern (not too many holes)? Decoupaged napkins, paper covered with baby oil, fabric, lace, etc. It would be fun to experiment.

    I was thinking that the tag pages you made for a book a while back would be a nice technique for the fabric covers. You might be able to use pieces of your watercolor pages with fabric for that.
    I agree with others that the pages for the paper cover should be softer and more delicate. Some waxed would be nice.

    Ich habe mir letztens einige Bienenwachsdrops für diesen Anlass gekauft. Ich habe auf diese Weise früher mit Kindern in der Klasse ihre Kunstwerke zu Fensterbildern werden lassen, die durchscheinend sind. Mit Öl funktioniert das auch toll, ist aber nicht so gut für ein Junk Journal, hihi. Ich muss sagen, dass mir diese Papierversion sogar fast noch besser gefällt, als die reine Stoffversion aus dem letzten Video. Ein sehr hübsches, kleines Journalcover mit ganz viel Potenzial…
    Liebe Grüße Nicole

    Wow another great project. Love the cover and the signatures. Maybe you can use a paper distresser tool to make the edges of the pages inside be more raggedy to match the cover?

    But on warm days that the paper could get warm, or if in a hot area in storage, does the wax re-melt and get oozy??

    I don’t like the numbered pages for the neutral cover to stif do some vintage pages more delicate

    love this dear adorable my thought is to add some Tabs that were ragged or edge pieces or snippets to some of pages the colors are beautiful to go with journal , I think adding a few to some of Pages will be fine as is no rules dear you can have raggedy and straight pages mix them up .💖😃

    WOW both covers are stunning I couldn’t choose between the two. Love the paper and wax cover. Not waxed before so I’ll try that. I enjoy all that you do. Your work is so unique compared to everything else out there xx

    Hello Barbara 😊 thank you for sharing. I learned something new. This is similar to melting old crayons for projects. Also, an old cheese grater would work really well for shaving the wax. 😢

    I actually love the numbered papers in this neutral book. They share the vintage look colour wise and the more structured pages are a great contrast to the softer cover. To marry the two further, I would add some lace tabs/embellishments to the pages in creams and whites. I would also rough up th edges of the watercolour paper with a knife to soften a little. Thats my 2 cents!

    I feel the one cover is more vintage, almost shabby chic in a way with the lace and softness. I love the idea of pattern paper as mentioned in the comments and more vintage pages. I do also feel the other inside pages you made are just a little too modern and clean edged, as you stated. I love the idea of fabric hinged pages in the blue jean slashed cover. And I think both projects are going to be wonderful. You making amazing journals.
