I do love your explanation of making journals as art themselves where at times there needs no journaling space. This is something I am learning and embracing. My creativity seems to be enhanced when I am creating without the “demand for a specific purpose.”
I love the tins! And to create a journal in one! Wow, very unique! Love them and the funny sayings with the serious looks. I think way back you had to sit still for a long time serious face is probably easier, less painful than plastering a smile on with no movement for how ever long it took!😁🤪😫
Your videos are so soothing! Your monolog is so inspiring. Yes, creating a journal is just about the creation. If someone likes what you do, then we can think about making and selling. It's very relaxing to sit and create.
That journal tin journal is so adorable and creative. You rock Ms. Barbara. Keep doing what you are doing. You always make such lovely journals and planners. ❤
Your laughter at the end when you were reading the phrases Cracked me up. Genius use of the magnets. This is a beautiful piece of art. Love your mixture of black and white with the neon. I recently completed a mother's day journal for my Mom that will soon be 88. I took pictures of she and I showing our growth from a baby to now. The journal was pastel garden themed (which was her favorite past time-her health has prevented her from gardening unfortunately). The pictures I added were all in black and white and it just came out so good. Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece. Love you 💙 💙💙
Oh my goodness! Your beautiful shelf of mini journals is filling up! It looks so gorgeous! I don't know how you get anything done I would spend all day staring at that shelf and flipping through those journals! I adore this journal in a tin It is darling! Oh those colors!! I may need to keep my eyes open for neon colors. 🥰 Does anyone remember the neon parachute pants and jelly shoes in the 80's? Thank you for the words of encouragement! I often enjoy creating journals more than writing in them. Take care and be blessed as much as you bless us with these peaceful moments of inspiration! 💕💕
This project is inspiring me to use some old family photos of me and my siblings. Putting them together in a little tin box somehow makes it endearing. Thank you for this idea, Barbara, and for your thoughts about the value of time.
Beautiful! I love how you combined the vintage and the neon. Striking visual effect. Than you for your comments on the making and enjoying process of creating journals.
Absolutely love this journal, it's so cute and the last page really made me laugh with the heart skipping a beat quote. Barbara I don't write in my journals I just enjoy making them and call them inspirational journals.
This is a gorgeous piece of art that will be treasured dearly. That alone is such a lovely purpose for creating it. It fits beautifully nestled in with your other pieces of cherished art. To be picked up and viewed when you are looking for inspiration or valued memories. Hugs 🤗❤️
Awww, your bandaged thumb tells me you had an, “oh no!” moment. 😮Good thing it did not get in the way of all the creative fun in today’s video! Love this sweet little creation!❤
I beginning to understand making a junk journal to play with and look at! It's like scrapbooking only less demanding in perfection and much more fun. I'm also of the age to do what I want, the way I want, and not necessarily to please someone else - unless I am making it for them. I've also learned that not everyone likes imperfection, therefore not everyone likes handmade anything because it's not perfect. I try to avoid those people!! I love the tin and I think I actually have some vintage (no, probably antique) photos from\of my parents, aunts and uncles, etc that would be fun to use. (I'm vintage!!) The tins are a little bigger than yours (if I can find them - or at least 1 - to use. Thanks for sharing. Love your channel. ❤❤❤
Barbara, this is stunning! I am always in awe about your boldness of adding a splash of unexpected colour to your projects. Love it! Greetings from Greece, Claudia
Around 10:00 -ish.... Dang it, Barbara... Will you stop making me cry with your profound, lyrical poeticism?? 🥹 You always touch my heart.💗 I have loved the neon orange with grungy-ness ever since you stamped bright orange letters on your mom's white dress.😍 I L🧡❤️🧡VE your little tin journal! Love & blessings, all the way from California, US.🧡🧡🧡 P.S. tip to everyone: I've found that bright orange or yellow cardstock makes a great base when "rusting" die cut cogs & "metal" things. It does something to enhance the color of Distress paints & inks. Personally, I prefer the orange.😁
Love this. The only person in the whole world who could persuade me to use neon's is you!! They work perfectly here, the thread is so clever!! Thank you ❤❤
Barbara! This is fabulous!!! I love little tins and get soooo much inspiration from watching how you do this. I love all your suggestions ... and it's really fabulous that you tell us what works best and even what brands you're using. I got a lifetime membership for the Digital Collage Club through you and have LOVED it so much! Journals ... whether you write in them or not ... are absolutely pieces of art! I proudly display mine in my bookcases and give a lot away. This end product was WONDERFUL! I've been moving for months ... I'm getting organized but it has taken longer than I planned ... hahaha ... I have a LOT of catching up to do on video's. (Note: I found a pack of transparencies at a thrift store for $1. I've never used them but had seen you use them and definitely want to give it a try.) Thank you so much ... for giving of your time and talent to all of us!!! YOU are appreciated! Much Love! Susan in Washington State, US
I love watching your videos! You have such great fun ideas. Most of all I love your beautiful heart and soul. Thank you for inspiring me not just “junk journaling” but being connected with time!
Just love your heart and soul that u put into your videos and art. Your so talented and your personality draws a person in as well as your creativity. Absolutely love this creation. Tfs and your thoughts. ❤❤❤
So toll geworden, Barbara!
I love the photos in this kit! I have that die, from ebay I think. Lol yes I've found it's definitely true that a journal doesn't need to be used to make it special or worth making. This is gorgeous and positively SCREAMS Barbara! Oh they definitely stick to the tin 😄. Lol yes I love the dour faces (early photos had long exposure times) even now it's hard to russel up a convincing smile long enough🙈. I absolutely love this and it's on my to do list. Yes, I'd love to revisit you mini journals. I've somehow managed to start one by mistake🤷😄. Tfs and have a great day 💖💖💖
🤩Aww Barbara, a little bit late again to leave a comment.... Looovee how you mixed up our quotes with our very serious wedding couples 😅and all those grungy elements. ...Superb as usual. SO proud of our collaborations 🤩. Hugs, Tina xx
This showed up at the right time for me. I just bought some empty Altoids-shaped tins and wasn't entirely sure what to do with them. Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful project and showing us how you made it. Inspiration galore! 🙏💕
Barbara, this is so gorgeous. I'd love to make one with pictures of my Dad from young to aged. Love the neon orange so much! U made me buy a heat tool, clear embossing powder, and a dabber!!!! Im excited to use. I had a pad but never loved using it, so I hope the dabber will be more fun❤❤❤ tfs!!!❤❤❤
I don't know what you do. Every time you use strong colours I end up loving everything. I think is your love for journaling and journals that do this to weird people like me. I really can't with these neon colours, I get tired and anxious, I am afraid to use them, but you do some magic, I think. Love this little journal tin, is adorable!❤❤❤
This turned out so cool! I ended up picking up a couple tons to give it a try. I'll have to age my tins up and decorate them to make them look nice but I couldn't resist when I saw some mints in tins in the checkout the other day after watching part one.
I found 2 tins, yay. Mine are square and I move staples out of them to another storage. Because how can I not make a cute journal (or 2) now, that I watched last 2 episodes? I am currently with another obsession, though, wonky windows covered with transparent materials I harvested from packaging. I will combine this obsession with the idea Barbara showed and I am sure that will lead to my ordering tins from amazon specifically for making more cute journals.
❤ your journal in a tin is so gorgeous, sweetie ❤ did you know that people look so serious on old photographs because they had to stand perfectly still, so also keep their faces still, because the 'shutterspeed' was quite long? 😅 I also always thought: why the serious faces? Until I heard about this. Anyway, whichever, I love your pages and your laughter about the sentiments and their expressions 😘😘😘
Thank you for your comments on not needing to use a journal you create, but its the creating process. I really enjoy making covers and signatures, but I don't do journaling at all, and I was feeling/bad guilty about wanting to make journals, but having no use for them. I do try to make my journals with a theme where I can keep things, like my garden (seed packets and layouts), trips, pets, things like that. Looks like I'm going to have a bunch of journals in my bookshelves replacing all the books I now have on Kindle!
Aaawww!! This is so cute (the tiny size dictates that I use the word cute)! lol I was watching someone (???) the other day that used small playing cards because the large ones wouldn’t fit in her Journal. I love the accordion style. I have Jumbo cards and my Journal is big enough. So today, watching you decorate these cards, it makes me want to do something to add to my Journal. Bigger cards but not as many. I can make a few sets and sprinkle them throughout my Journal. I love the things you put behind the people. I can now see different ideas for my cards. Next question…. What did you do to your thumb. We have the case of the appearing/disappearing bandaid. lol. Hope it’s not a bad injury. Take care!!♥️♥️♥️
Love this kind of Tin-book. Always looking forward to your videos. Ps you put a king and queen of Sweden in your Tin. 😂 The first couple Tina S from Sweden
This was enjoyable to watch. The struggle to figure out the point is definately an area that I can't seem to make peace with. What you said helps. I do have a question about the printer transparency sheets. Can they be stamped on? I don't have a printer, but I do have a small collection of clear stamps. If that works, then getting a package would be worth it.
I’ve made little books in tins before, but yours just blew me away!! Such a terrific idea to use the little magnets! And thank you so much for the discount to the digital collage club. I’ve not seen this site before, but am quite sure it will serve my needs to a “T” with everything in one spot instead of searching around for the images I want. Thanks for sharing!
I do love your explanation of making journals as art themselves where at times there needs no journaling space. This is something I am learning and embracing. My creativity seems to be enhanced when I am creating without the “demand for a specific purpose.”
Yessssss. An art journal can just exist! Beauty in itself! A visual remembrance.
And what's fun about this design is that you can still journal on the back! I love this!!
Such a cute and funny idea. Thanks for the great thought
Wow! What a genius idea, I
Love old tins and now a new love of junk journaling. What a way to entwine the two.
💜💜💜
I love the tins! And to create a journal in one! Wow, very unique! Love them and the funny sayings with the serious looks. I think way back you had to sit still for a long time serious face is probably easier, less painful than plastering a smile on with no movement for how ever long it took!😁🤪😫

Thank YOU! 🙏🏻😊

Thank you so much! 🥰
A very nice way to make a beloved empty tin into a beloved journal tin!❤😊
I LOVE the embossed cog piece die cuts. The orange and red makes it sunset colors. One of my favorite color combinations.

So much fun! I have an idea for a couple of different eras to mix together that could be a riot!
Sounds like a great time! 😃❤️
Barbara: this is a clever idea creating from a tin." A Tin of Memories" should be the title. A fun project. Carol from California
This is so adorable! The mix of vintage and modern is perfect! 🤗🇨🇦🤗
Beautiful! I love how you combined the vintage and the neon. Striking visual effect. Than you for your comments on the making and enjoying process of creating journals.

One reason people did not smile for the photographer is because it could take up to 15 minutes to capture their image. Such a cute project!!!

I was commenting on your latest video when i was notified of part 2. I had to pull this right up. Lol

What a clever, lovely project! Thank you!❤
Hi Barbara! Love this tin journal! Could you have decorated the other side of the accordion pages? Or would it be too bulky? 💋💋💋
Thanks! I think adding more ephemera would have made it too bulky…
Fabulous 🤍
That’s cute

I do have a question about the printer transparency sheets. Can they be stamped on? I don't have a printer, but I do have a small collection of clear stamps. If that works, then getting a package would be worth it.
Yes, that works, but use permanent ink! ❤️
@@49dragonflies I only have one stamp pad (by choice) it's black archival ink by Ranger, so that's not a problem.
What are your neon clocks made from! It doesn’t look like paper. I love this journal!
It’s watercolor paper 😊
@@49dragonflies Thanks for the info !
What did the back of each page have? Blank for journaling?
Just the design from the heat embossing.
I love my lifetime membership

A journal you can't write in is not a journal.
Sure it is--lots of artists keep art journals. Would you be happier if you called it a handmade book? Book art?
You are an exquisite artist Barbara! You inspire me to try new things.
Aaaaw thank you! ❤️
