We have a lovely shop here in town called Tattered Treasures. They go to estate sales and bring amazing finds back. We found music pages from the 20's and 40's, letters from the 50's, vintage magazines, old hankies and even piano rolls!!!!

I've only made one junk journal so far but I was never in a hurry to "finish" it, and actually there are places to add more. I jumped around on it; adding to a page whenever I'd see something that fit a page. Thank you for the altered book pockets tutorial which I think I'll do next.

One of the many things I enjoy about your videos, and something that fairly few people do, is that you explain your choices in terms of color, texture, or why you do or do not use distress ink for different purposes. It's very useful to hear how something else thinks about that. Thanks for your lovely videos!

I loved your explanation as to why you chose the green stamps vs red and why you ink somethings and not others. I think that’s helpful for people to make decisions on what and how to add pieces to projects and collages.

They way you describe your thought process is so helpful! It made me realize (alas, half way through) that I wanted this journal to go in a Victorian Children’s direction since a lot of the images you suggested to download lend themselves well to that but especially because I was altering a book from my childhood- a Nancy Drew Mystery (is that just a mid-century American thing?) Fortunately, I have several more volumes in the series that I am going to alter and decorate accordingly. Best of all, you gave me the courage to utilize a piece of lace on the frontpiece pocket that I have had for over 25 years and just happened to be a sepia tone of brown that coordinated spectacularly!

I like how you glued the spine between pocket pages. Also that you had no idea where you were going to begin with, but still added collage to your pages to begin. It gives us hope when looking at blank pages.

Very teachable video, I am so geared to do my own, you have an eye for color and how your video is not wasted on repetitive gluing.
The pages where the postcard has the "my lady's glove" I appreciated the explanation on how one picks out the color and combining it with the entire page. Attractive good first with the scary first page, the lace did the number. Thanks for reminding not to overthink and get started. Thank you for doing another very teachable tutorial

I am loving this altered book series!! I have done several altered books, myself. Including a Christmas recipe book that holds all of my holiday cookie recipes. I had learned how to do this from Gayle's video.

You have made a few comments that really resonate with me. When I first start a journal before any decorations have started, I struggle with the direction I am going to go. It's almost like you need to tame the wild animal :-). Also, thank you for listing your collections from Digital Collage Club. I find that sometimes I get lost in that site and I don't find what I am looking for. Your lists really help me with that. I find I am using it more than I used to. Lastly, thank you for sharing your creativity. You channel is one of my go-tos with I am stuck. ❣

Collect all the tea tags you can! I've been using them, too, but when I bought my usual tea a couple of weeks ago, the tags are now on thinner paper instead of card type! I may try a different brand because of that!
Oh cool! I still need to coffee dye mine. I’m sure you can find a brand that still uses the thicker card stock, fingers crossed!
