I use the retinol in squalane 1% solution from the ordinary since 6 months and I love it so much. The difference in my skin is huge and it never caused any irritation. It is honestly the first time in my life that I can see a before and after with a beauty product
I will just put it out there, I just finished a bottle of The Ordinary's Granactive Retinoid 2% in Squalane and I have seen a pretty big difference in my skin since starting it. I had been using it for about 5 months and have had a noticeable difference in my skin texture, wrinkles, and tone of my skin. I have very sensitive skin and it didn't irritate my skin at all, thankfully. I know there aren't really any studies on it but, I definitely saw results and would love to see literature come out on granactive retinoid.
Hannah I’ve been using the same exact product as well, since November (5 months too) and have also seen my hyperpigmentation and fine lines pretty much gone. No irritations either.
Hannah good for you!!! i think the whole science thing is important we def need more studies but some people's legit have had drastic changes from this product and some said it helped with their cyctic acne so i think it's still valuable
Love the bit about lifestlye; 8 hours sleep, eating and drinking well, exercise etc. It's too easy to get caught up in skin care products but this has been a perfect reminder for me
I am 65 years old, I have used expensive skincare, not expensive skincare, Retin A. 3 years ago I started using the ordinary, Now I have smooth flawless skin, I use the ordinary Retinol 1% in squalane 3 times a week followed by natural moisturising factors and 100% organic cold pressed Borage seed oil, The vitamin C suspension 30% in silicone 3 times a week followed by Natural moisturising factors and Borage seed oil, once a week the peeling solution, followed by natural moisturising factors and Borage seed oil, in the morning I use alpha Arbutin 2% HA, Buffet, 100% plan derived squalane , natural moisturiser factors, sunscreen, I look 15 years younger. I love the ordinary .
I used Granactive Retinoid from mid-2020 until beginning of 2022. Didn’t notice any significance difference with reducing fine lines but made my skin texture feel smoother. I switched to 0.5% Retinol in Squalene and my acne scars/dark spots have lightened, made my skin smoother and reduced a bit of the forehead lines. At the end choose the products that work for your skin which requires trial and error.
In the UK, Differin costs £28 from Boots Pharmacy ($38). On the other hand, The Ordinary's Retinol 0.5% serum is £5 ($7). Its just simply the best budget option here.
@@alyssagross7673 No, what Dr. Dray said was Differin has fact based data proving the product works and the other company doesn't. Differin is also paid for by insurance because it is a REAL FDA approved medication. There's no need to get snippy and try to have a go at Andrea on a personal level ffs chill.
I bought the Retinol 1% in Squalene a month ago because I got a really dark acne mark on my cheek that wasn’t fading and week 4 and it’s totally gone! My pores also look dramatically smaller on my cheeks
Sameeee! My skin has never been better, I got rid of acne and a lot of dark spots that I had like from 10 years ago. I use it 2 times a week but it depends a lot on your skin type cause it can be really hard on sensitive skin.
I love the 1%. I got up to using every night for several months. Had smoother skin for 45. Then I stopped. Now ive placed another order. Maybe i should have just chose differin cream but i heard its similar to cosmetic grade. Regardless I hope to regain some of my losses! I enjoyed th clinical review
I just started using the retinol with squalane. I'm 61 and have lots of lines and wrinkles and I have seen a huge difference in my skin! I was using Adapalene and see much better results with The Ordinary.
Hey Doc! Thanks for transforming my skincare routine and stopping me paying stupid amounts on rubbish, overpriced and frangrance packed products with no science to back them back. Hope you and your mum are doing fine!
@@lindaackerman3507 the squalane killed my face and did the opposite of what the retinoid was doing to my combo skin. I was breaking out as it made my face soft and smooth 😥😥😥
@Serein Serenity what could I use with the retinol in the evenings to help my skin tolerate it? I want to start with it soon, at first only once a week. Can I use actives (that my skin knows by now) the other evenings or is it still too much for the skin if I use retinol?
@@sobean9309 I put niacinamide serum from The Ordinary on damp skin (after washing my face of course) and then immediately apply CeraVe's moisturizing cream on still damp skin. I wait for the moisturizer to dry completely and apply retinol (don't put retinol on wet or damp skin). This is great since the moisturizer acts as a buffer which lessens irritation and dryness.
I use The Ordinary products since October 2017. Niacinamide+zinc, vit c + hyaluronic acid, glycolic acid, salicilic acid, granactiv retinoid 2% and now 5%. All of them worked well for my skin. I’ve no more spots or enlarged pores, no lines or wrinkles and soft and luminous skin. I’m 36 yo with no sensitive, mix to oily skin.

I love your clear no-nonsense explanation. Retinols seem so confusing but you’ve reminded me to get back to the science not marketing. Thanks again Dr Dray 😊
I don't agree with that. There are already many really good products out there that do what they're supposed to do (and have taken a lot of time to get formulated by chemists). Dr Dray is already working as a doctor and youtuber, it's very time consuming launching your own skincare line and promoting it. Plus, many people would stop watching if all she was mentioning were her products, like I stopped watching many youtubers who after launching their lines, it was all they ever used. We need reviews for other products too. Dr Dray is a dermatologist, not an expert in formulating, neither a beauty guru. She's doing fine as is and I love her for taking the time to educate us about the things she knows best.
I started to use ordinary products about few weeks and I can really see the difference in my skin. Has improved texture and dark spots, on top of that is something affordable. I guess it works different for some people.
My sister and I used the same 1% retinol in squalane. I had no issues with it while she kept seeing different irritations on her skin. So I guess it varies from person to person
I use the granactive in squalane 5% and I love it, I see the difference in my skin after 2 weeks and I love it. Can’t wait to see further studies on HPR, I believe it works really well with no irritation at all to my combination/dry skin
I've been using Granactive Retinoid 5% for a while now & I must say that I cannot live without it. It transformed my skin in many ways, even though I use few drops mixed with my moisturizer. It smoothed my texture, helps with breakouts, even out discoloration, minimized fine lines under my eyes. I favorite it over Tretinoin which always cause side effects & sets my skin journey back ... I also use the Retinol 1% for my body mixed with my moisturizer, I love it!
You May use retinol for eye area but be sure to buy a product that is specifically for that because it will have a low concentration of retinol in it. A high concentration may lead to dry eyes. Because retinol can affect the lacrimary glands in the eye. Sorry for my english.. It s not my mother tongue.
This evening I was listening to this video while fixing dinner. My brother, a Pediatrician, came through and heard you say "tretinoin". He said, "Tretinoin? I prescribe that for acne." He must have continued to listen b/c from the dining room he said, "Anyone who uses the phrase 'paucity of literature' is ok by me." :)
I'm torn. I love Dr Dray and Hyram but I feel like when it comes to The Ordinary there is some butting heads on opinions. BUT I'm going to let my skin be the final decider. My order arrives TODAY! 🙌🙌
I really enjoy The Ordinary's retinols. I've started with the emulsion, then I bought the retinol 1% and the grandactive 5%. I'm sure that retin-a and differin are the best way to go, but not for everyone. I'm a student, I don't have that much to repair, I have a quite healthy lifestyle (but lots of stress) and never sunbathe. I started with The Ordinary's retinols 2-3 years ago and I have to say that I have way fewer wrinkles and creepy skin than my colleagues (25 yo). I use them 3-4 nights a week because I noticed that by using them every night, my skin would start to peel around the nose and mouth. Probably in a couple of years, I'm gonna get the real retinoic acid but here in Europe, it's not that easy (I live in Italy). We don't have differin as otc and you have to go to a dermatologist (and if you don't have real acne problems, your family doctor won't send you to a derm, you have to go by yourself and it's more expensive) and hopefully, he'll give you the prescription. Then you have to come back to him every 6 months or maybe 12 in order to keep the prescription. Probably for someone with real sun damage or someone in their 30's-40's, there's no much time to waste and try The Ordinary's retinols, but for someone in their 20's with no sun damage they're a nice step before going to the real deal.
Same here in Malaysia. Even my brother with severe acne doesn't get to go to a dermatologist. Visiting one is quite uncommon here so there aren't many clinics available and like you stated, they're EXPENSIVE. I've only started seeing the rising popularity of local dermatologists last year 🤷♀️
I love how you say there’s no time to waste in the 30s & 40s the way there is in the 20s. So true 😂 Glad to hear you’re taking preventative measures in your 20s, keep it up!
I get the reliance on data (and the lack of it), but I trust my experience on this one. I’ve been using their retinoid for over a year now and it’s very good at renewing my skin. The efficacy is obviously incomparable to tretinoin because that is a purer format (and harsher for beginners), but for people with only mild-moderate issues of pigmentation and wrinkles, these products will more than do the job at a fraction of the price of what’s in the market. Deciem is a good company, and I’d back them up.
I really like the 1% retinol in squalane. I've been using it for a week now, and have honestly been so pleasantly surprised by the results. I never would've thought a topical would actually do something for my forehead wrinkles (that I've had for 4+ years), but they're already much less noticeable. I'd recommend it to anyone who can't afford the high price tags of other retinols!
C.C. its definitely a hell of a condition, but what has worked for me is Aveeno Daily Moisturizing lotion (the fragrance free one of course), the Cerave SA Lotion, I sometimes use the Gold Bond psoriasis relief cream (a little goes a long way with it), The Ordinary Buffet Serum and Vaseline for my lips
I like the Ordinary Buffet and some of the other serums as well. Their oils are great as well. You have to just pick and choose your products and see how they react with your skin type. ~Life According to Maria~
The Retinol 1% in squalene has honestly changed my skin, it has completely cleared my cystic acne and has started to fade hyperpigmentation. I’ve used it every night for months
I'm not surprised. I'm on the 0.5% going to 1% soon. A shame her video here got into this weird anti-retinol / pro lifestyle rant, while she recommend retinoids in other videos. Just lol.

I dont know, i felt like the Granactive retinoids didnt work, but the moment i started using their retinol, my adult acne cleared up literally a few days later and haven't returned since . I had suffered from it for 5 years.
Okay, this makes me feel a little better because I had just purchased the 0.5% retinol serum earlier today, and then I watched this video and suddenly wasn't feeling very confident in my purchase lol
Julie I bought this a while ago and it’s really helped my acne! My skin just looks brighter, smoother, less spotty. Family and friends have commented on how much my skin has improved :)
I've been using the Ordinary's Granactive Retinoid 5% in Squalane and have noticed my skin is smoother, fine lines have disappeared and my face has a glow. I think it's the best product I have used. People should make up their own minds.
I’ve had serious breakouts ever since wearing mask. Tried differin for three months, Acnes were calmed down to a certain level but not well enough to make me ignore the problem. Sadly in my country, prescription is required for obtaining tretinoin🤦🏻♀️ So I tried the ordinary retinol 1% as last resort to see if I get any luck. Idk why but this thing works amazingly well on my skin🥲 I guess skincare does work differently on people
Honestly, I can see huge improvement in my smile lines and under eye wrinkles after using around half a bottle of the granactive retinoid 2% emulsion. It also prepares me for transitioning to its 0.2% retinol in Squalane as I have experienced zero irritation whatsoever upon the switch. I trust physical results over scientific theories. The number of times I have witnessed a huge discrepancy in what a doctor claims and what’s the actual effect/ result is r insane
What she discussed were not scientific "theories" though. If you listen carefully she supports those established products with ingredients which are tested and proven which have published papers so those are facts. The theory here are those claims by The Ordinary as discussed in the video as they do not have an established papers. But, your body your rules, like what you said if it did work for you then good for you ;) Just my 2 cents.

Yes me too. I keep it in the fridge. I alternate with this product, tretinoin, and retinol depending on my skin sensitivity, my cycle, and the time of year. So far, excellent results. So now I’m totally confused! Lol 😆
Ordinary user with adult acne for 10 + years and live in a cold climate. Retin A Works great but too irritating to use a good part (Sept-March) of the year. Granactive 2% Not irritating but not effective in acne control (used for 4-5 weeks) Granactive 5% Not irritating and very effective in controlling acne (used 6-7 months so far) For me, effective would be defined as 0, 1, 2 pimples 0 pimples 60 % of time I used other retinol serums previously and had decent results with minor irritation I hope this helps and thanks for all the cool content!
Georgie I’ve been using 2% and have seen a huge change in fine lines. For me it’s very effective. I’m sad Ulta no longer carries it in 2%. I ran out and switched to revolution skin care. I don’t like it near as well was The Ordinary.
The Ordinary website does not claim that the Granactive products help with acne. The product line instead promises consumers less wrinkles and texture, and more elasticity on skin. The Granactive contains HPR (benefits produced similar to that of tretinoin) as well as retinol (meant for anti-aging). Thereby, reduced acne is a side effect and not the purpose. So, you actually claim that you receive the promised benefits. It is just that the product is not meant for your problems.
mark tr I have had the same experience. I started with deep cystic hormonal acne and tried the 2%. It cleared my skin but I still got acne here and there. After a few months I moved onto the 5% and now I do not have any acne at all! Now working on clearing up dark spots.

@@claras.899 If I'm not mistaken, I think that she sad, as well as dr Shereen Idriss (also a dermatologist), that niacinamide should be between 2 and 5% because there isn't a study that proves that the more % of niacinamide there is that it will be more effective. In fact, she sad that it could have the opposite effect. Watch her videos about niacinamide, she has 2-3 of them :D

Thank you, Doc! You worked hard to learn the science--I love it that you share it with us. I am using CeraVe "Resurfacing Retinol Serum" after hearing your review. I WAS using prescriptive Retin A or Tretinoin for decades and, unlike them, the CeraVE, comparatively, causes me little irritation and virtually no peeling/flaking. It is a GREAT improvement! I also appreciate you straight, commonsense approach.
I LOVE the Cerave retinol serums. I really have found that sunscreen makes the biggest difference though. Since I’ve started wearing it religiously, I’ve noticed the biggest change in my skin
Dr. Rattan, Dr. Stephens, Dr. Shah and Dr. Maxfield ALL recommended retinol from The Ordinary so I'm not sure why Dr. Dray's take should override that. It's confusing.
The thing about skincare is that theres so many different opinions on everything, and pretty much none of them are 100 percent incorrect, since Dr. Dray didn't say that they're necessarily bad i personally think that using the ordinary ones should be fine, especially when a lot of other people recommended them
I'm not familiar with Dr Mayfield, but I know that Dr Rattan and Dr Stephens focus on skin of colour, which reacts really badly to irritation and inflammation. It's why they recommend the 0.2% or 0.5% in squalene. The disclosure of retinol % too I've never heard them recommend either of the Granactive ones, but the 0.5% and 0.2%, yes
After attending years going to dermatologist and unending prescriptions, I decided to try the ordinary retinol started with 0.5% now 1 1/2 years OMG I can’t tell you my life has changed for the better my face is like I never had any acne in my life.
I mean fine, but I absolutely LOVE the Ordinary retinol. My skin honestly has never looked better. The fine lines I was starting to see in my forehead have all but disappeared. I don't even need to wear foundation these days. Plus their products are super cheap so not much to lose by trying it out in that case. I've since switched to the Drunk Elephant one (just to try it out for a bit), but have actually experienced more irritation with that one. Will probably switch back to ordinary unless I'm just really wowed by the DE results in a few weeks. :)

She is obviously very informed and a great source of information. She should however hold the product still and close enough to the camera and long enough so we can make note of the product name; as well her finger was covering part of the tube name. She also talks very fast using a lot of the pharma names and terms, which may be second nature for her, but not for the lay person (who I believe are the ones mostly watching her videos).

In case you haven’t heard about dr Alexander Wunsch. He’s a physician in Germany a scientist an expert in light therapy, photobiology and biophysics. I would recommend to read or listen what he says about that topic. Greetings from Germany dr dray. 👋🏽
@@mrsbryant That's what I thought. I don't subscribe to the idea that sunscreen is harmful while UV exposure is not. This has been studied for so long, UV exposure can cause cancer! Think about that. That doctor you mentioned parallels another bogus German doctor, Barbara Sturm who sells super expensive products that are very unworthy and also does not believe in sunscreen. Bye Felicia!

Also if you want you can check out Dr. Jack Kruse...don’t know about that other doctor Sturm... there are a lot of people try to sell stuff. But I have zero interests to buy stuff from what dr whatsoever. To be clear I never got a sun burn in my life and if I had than I would try to wear clothing that hides my skin and stay out of midday sun. I personally think wearing sunscreen and stay hours in the sun ☀️ is not the right behavior to this skin cancer topic. There is also a study about skin cancer patients are more likely to be vitamin d deficient. The way to build vitamin D is through ultraviolet b rays. It is made on our skin and vitamin D improves sunburn and helps preventing them by increasing autophagy in M2 macrophages. Also a study about this. The suns ultraviolet b rays form that active form of vitamin d. So vitamin D is a factor in preventing sunburn. Everybody should preventing sunburn as much as possible but there are other ways than just using sunscreen and than act like we can stay all day in the sun. That’s not favorable. In fact if you do see the sunrise and sunset everyday It helps you to tolerate more midday sun. Sorry if I can not be clear enough..English is not my first language. :)

I think this video went on about hpr too much, okay we get it. I've used retinol .5% then moved up to the 1% and that helped train my skin as first time user. I think. I would have liked more information on those other than recommending an expensive alternative, not every can afford 60 plus dollars for a skincare item . Most of those companies selling high priced products, the active ingredient is very cheap to produce and that is what the ordinary was trying to expose when they started their company.

Few weeks before, I learned from your channel the treasure that is Tretinoin. I didn't realize that this prescription retinoid is like the OG golden child of skincare with hardcore backed up studies. I was about to buy TO'S 1% Retinol + squalane and realized I had my dermatologist presrcibed Tretinoin all along which was actually better than any skincare products that almost blinded me. Talk about almost flushing my money down the toilet, yikes! Thank you Dr. Dray, you are my second trustworthy dermarologist around.
I am Dutch and I don't fully understand your reaction. What is wrong by using the Ordinary? Do we have to use the pure retinol? Why do other creams are less effective? Thanks from Belgium
I can’t use Tretinoin, my skin just can’t deal with it. I can use retinol and my skin definitely improves with it. You don’t throw money down the drain with retinol, just depends on what your skin can tolerate.
PistolStar That’s the thing, if it works for you then that’s good. For me, I already had a true, legit item in my stash that works. I got a bit blindsided almost by the stuff of cosmoceutical skincare mania. I tolerate my tretinoin well and for quite awhile I never had acne and my wrinkles improved evidently for almost 5 months already of usage. This doesn’t mean though I hate TO. I love their niacinamide and HA solutions, plus they are quite affordable. I’m thankful that I didn’t go for their retinol since I already had tretinoin which was already effective. Their retinol might work for me but I’m not wasting money just to test it given I already have a retinoid that works well.
Els Debast Dr. Dray explained what literature is behind the TO’s retinols so as to substatiate their bold claims. Please watch her video carefully again so you’ll understand how retinols trully works. For my reaction, I’m simply explaining that tretinoin, which is a prescription retinoid, is already an active skin treatment (aka retinoic acid) that I already have and I almost fell for trying TO’s retinol not knowing it requires two step further to even match my own tretinoin. I’m thankful that I saved myself a few bucks by avoiding misguided purchasing thanks to Dr. Dray. There’s nothing wrong with using OTC retinols if that’s your only access for vitamin A skin treatment. She even says in one of her videos that if you’ll risking a chance on retinols you should try the cheaper ones in the market, hence the TO. There’s even The Inkey List if you want, but you can try safer options from drugstore brands like CeraVe and Neutrogena per Dr. Dray’s recommendation. There’s even Avene (aka a retinaldegyde, 1 step closer to retinoid) and Differin (retinoic acid itself already, except it is non prescription, meaning it is available OTC already).
Adapalene did nothing for my skin when I was my daughter's age, and it did nothing for my daughter's skin, either! And we have two totally different skin types! Tretinoin has worked really well for both of us. I have never actually used retinol, but I have a feeling it would also be a win.
The Ordinary products work! I use the hyaluronic acid 2%, niacinamide, caffeine solution under eye , the b12 serum their rose hip oil and my skin is clear and looks so healthy and glowy! Their price point is affordable as hell. I used the gram active but not consistently I’ve landed on the products I mentioned. I also use Cocokind products in my rotation. My skin is thriving!
I like the way that you always show us your original face before and after skin care. You’re different from other people who come with make up on their face and talk about skin care. It’s hard for me to believe them.
I guess my skin hasn’t read the science. I use many ordinary products and my favorite is the 2% Granactive Retinoid. It’s amazing. I look younger than ever.
i use the 0.2% retinol from the ordinary and its worked great for me with minimal irritation. also that price is sexy. i cant get differin or adapalene anywhere i go. shoppers and walmart dont carry them in my location and they dont have them on amazon canada, but theres an abnormal beauty shop in my local mall so its just more accessible for me.
Off topic, but Biore UV Kids (yellow bottle) was reformulated this year - now called Biore UV Kids Pure milk and is a 100% mineral sunscreen! would love to know your thoughts. Thank you❤️
I use it off and on with "the buffet " and if I keep up with it (which I admit sometimes I don't) my skin looks soooo much better! It's glowy, skin tone is great, less scars, and pores look smaller. I just wish I was adamant on keeping my routine going lol
I am on my third bottle of retinol from the ordinary. I am happy with it because my skin feels soft and hydrated. I just bought Differin tonight after watching 100 Dr Dray videos and read 5+ research papers. FYI, Walgreens now has buy 2 get 3rd free on Differin. Amazon has a similar discount now as well.
I’m so glad I found this channel! I used to watch other skin care “gurus” who don’t have a degree and just use their “knowledge” to misinform the masses. Thank you for choosing to use your knowledge to properly educate all of us who are confused about our skin and the products we use!
This is really interesting. I heard that the amount that retinol can help you has to do with how well your individual cells can transform it, something to do with retinol receptors in the skin, or something like this. And this varies from person to person. Maybe this explains why I personally have been getting great results from The Ordinary. It took a year, but my skin is transformed - my sun damage is gone. I concur that the granactive retinol is a load of crap, in my experience - it did nothing. The 0.5% retinol on the other hand was another matter entirely. I just use a few drops in my moisturizer so no big deal, no flaking, just great results. HOWEVER - your skepticism and the reasons behind it make me wonder if I might be able to get even better results with Differin. Thanks, will give it a shot.
I just started using the .5% retinol in squalane about 2 weeks ago and am already seeing since great results. Between watching Dray, Hyram, and James Welsh, over the last 6 months I have been able to really make positive changes in my routine, and was able to get rid of my cystic acne. I was still getting congestion though that was just leaving me red with small whiteheads in my upside down T zone (middle of face and jaw instead of forehead). using the ordinary retinol serum has seemingly smoothed that out for me.
When you buy the product then notice this video 😭😭 I’m using the .5% in Squalane. It hasn’t ruined my face so far but sad dr dray doesn’t love it. Haha.
She's being weirdly biased here, which is odd given she's (rightly) on the pro-retinol bandwagon in other videos and recommending shit like Cerave's Retinol serum (which likely has a lower amount of retinol than the Ordinary serum)
I'm using the 0.2% retinol in squalane, it's the first time I've ever tried retinol. I've not any irritation, but I assume that it's because the percentage is so low
She is a dermatologist not a cosmetic formulator or researcher. Doctors rely on researchers for their information. Her issue is lack of data and she is letting lack of data colour her view. She has changed her opinion on things in the past after more data came out however the product itself didn’t change. So she bases her opinion on amount of data, which is flawed.
After watching your Retinoid video I have been using the Neutrogena SR non fragrance cream for 5 months, I’m loving it, 64 and my fine lines are way less visible and skin well hydrated. Thank you.
Thanks so much for your input! My first step into anti-aging skincare was with The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% and I didn't see any results at all. I started Tretinoin about a month ago and I experienced change almost immediately! Thanks for breaking down why their anti-aging products aren't up to snuff.
@tendreheart hey it has been 9 days since I have been applying the ordinary granactive retinoid emulsion 2 percent. My skin has turned a bit darker in cheek and forehead area. I use 3 drops on face every night. Did you experience your skin turning dark too? Prior to starting this, I had glowing, problem free skin without wrinkles or anything. But suddenly the glow is gone and skin has turned a bit darker
None of those products listed are available in Finland and this seems to be a problem in other European countries as well. Differin is a prescription product but that isn't a very smart solution... It seems like tretinoin products aren't sold here, at least not as over-the-counter products. I'd rather find a replacement product from a store or a pharmacy. Any suggestions?
I got The Ordinary 1% in Squalene and I had no irritation or effects whatsoever. I've just started Retin-A 0.1 tretinoin gel because of this video. I hope it works!
@Clementina Yael Severina M. I'm paraphrasing but in general...Retinols have more data but have limited efficacy, granactives have very limited data but they're being hyped by the manufacturer. Retinoic Acid is the most studied and efficacious .
Wow - 0:10 seconds in and it's obvious by your tone of voice you're gonna rip this apart....I think you missed the price point comparison: $5 compared to $15 or $55
I use the retinol in squalane 1% solution from the ordinary since 6 months and I love it so much.
Hi! I just got this and excited to try it! How often did you use it?
Just on my second weeks ..a little whitehead purging but it is totally fine for me....can't wait to see my skin improving..

Love the bit about lifestlye; 8 hours sleep, eating and drinking well, exercise etc. It's too easy to get caught up in skin care products but this has been a perfect reminder for me
Exactly. Lifestyle is more important. Skincare is like, well for me at least, the cherry on top to make things almost perfect.

How long have you used the 5%?
In the UK, Differin costs £28 from Boots Pharmacy ($38). On the other hand, The Ordinary's Retinol 0.5% serum is £5 ($7). Its just simply the best budget option here.

I bought the Retinol 1% in Squalene a month ago because I got a really dark acne mark on my cheek that wasn’t fading and week 4 and it’s totally gone! My pores also look dramatically smaller on my cheeks
How do you use it and how often?
Love that stuff too! Just use it every night
Sameeee! My skin has never been better, I got rid of acne and a lot of dark spots that I had like from 10 years ago. I use it 2 times a week but it depends a lot on your skin type cause it can be really hard on sensitive skin.

@@sobean9309 You should use retinol ONLY at night. Niacinamide works great when paired with retinol!
I'm so down too buy that
I started to use ordinary products about few weeks and I can really see the difference in my skin.

Is the granactive retinoid strong and do you use it everyday?
@@mic_derin I use the granactive retinol 2% everyday and my skin is fine with it.
Do you use it as an eyecream?
It is safe to use on the eye contour?
You May use retinol for eye area but be sure to buy a product that is specifically for that because it will have a low concentration of retinol in it. A high concentration may lead to dry eyes. Because retinol can affect the lacrimary glands in the eye. Sorry for my english.. It s not my mother tongue.

What improvement? Did it work on hyperpigmentation?
I've been using the Ordinary niacinamide & the Ordinary 2 percent... Its definitely wrkg
I've only started seeing the rising popularity of local dermatologists last year 🤷♀️
What wrinkles can you possibly have at 25?

The ordinary is worth it. Thanks for your insight dr dray
How's your skin now...I started retinol 0.5 % in Squalene yesterday.

Hi Dr I have been using the Ordinary Retinol w/ Squalene. I have have been using this for a couple of months and I have seen a major difference to my skin. It has helped with texture, fine lines and wrinkles. No irritation at all compared to prescription retin-a.

I'm not a doctor, I'm just a 50 year old woman who is been looking after her skin for decades. I have a lot of experience in trying new formulas and brands for my specific skin needs. I have changed to the Korean skin care (the best for me) for about 5 years now. But when it comes to actives I think the Ordinary is a wonderful afforded brand that actually works, you see the results (of course I have not try all of their products, the retinols work for me). No need to diminish the ordinary as a real alternative for everybody's pocket.
Educate yourself, learn about ingredients and specially, feel your skin reactions and improvements. No need to trash a company reputation.
Wow your skin must look great for 50 years old! Just being curious, what sort of products/regimes did you use for anti ageing back in the day, as i’m sure not as much was available back then xxx

Thanks doc I was fluffing around with Granactive Retinoid 2% then the 5%, retinol in Squalane 0.5% and 1% till I got fed up and went straight to the doctor and got tretinoin and am loving how fast the results are.
Çünkü ceravede kapsullenmiş retinol var. Tabiki retin a ve tretinoin kadar etkili çalışmaz ve tahriş etmez.
Dr.
The disclosure of retinol % too
I've never heard them recommend either of the Granactive ones, but the 0.5% and 0.2%, yes

In case you haven’t heard about dr Alexander Wunsch. He’s a physician in Germany a scientist an expert in light therapy, photobiology and biophysics. His perspective and data of sun light and blue light for example is really helpful to understand how important the sun is for our whole body mechanism. I would recommend to read or listen what he says about that topic. Greetings from Germany dr dray. 👋🏽
Sooo... Do you use sunscreen or not?
jam6web nope.
I’ve also read many studies regarding this and to not use sunscreen. So much conflicting messages!
Bye Felicia!
jam6web I was talking about Dr. Wunsch. He’s not selling anything. He is a scientist as well and if you Iike to know more about light and sun in generell than you can check him out.

@@elsdebast122 Did you watch the video? Dr. Dray explained everything in detail! 🤦🏻♀️
So what is she saying? Are the ordinary retinoids good or not?
Adapalene did nothing for my skin when I was my daughter's age, and it did nothing for my daughter's skin, either! And we have two totally different skin types! Tretinoin has worked really well for both of us. I have never actually used retinol, but I have a feeling it would also be a win.

I changed to differin and honestly didn’t get good results like the retinol 2% in squaline. It improves my pores and fine lines.
