- I personally believe no matter which instrument you play, it's good to practice your major scales on the piano. In this video we go over the correct fingering for each major scale, ascending and descending, with both right and left hands.

Maybe in the future I will make it available for free or on a different website, which is why I don't specify the website in my video and just refer to it as a "link". People like you that give such welcome tutorials & that too completely free have to be seriously applauded! Can't thank you enough!
May the Lord Jesus Christ bless you for your graciousness
Hope you'll do something similar for chords and/or arpeggios, if it makes sense... don't know if they have canonical fingerings as well. Thanks!
Merci beaucoup. I'm a veteran of scales, with 6 weeks of experience. But your videos are so helpful that a review with the master is a good review.
Such a good teacher
thank you!
You are a wealth of knowledge. I’m a guitar player mainly. But this has helped me get started with playing piano, which I’ve always wanted to do since I was real young. Thank you!
Since I started watching this woman I NEVER liked her as MUCH as I Love her! I mean she can break down the hard theories and make it ALL more SiMPLE to understand! Love you baby! Here we see her at an easy slow pace, this works well for beginners!
Jeff Bezos is scratching his head over what size box to ship my new piano. While waiting, I found your total immersion music theory videos, & have been binging. My head is swimming. At my skill level, I have to watch once and then again to take notes. WHEW! Thank you for these. You are a delightful, no-nonsense instructor., and I'm so happy I found you. If rocket science required music, I think you'd be director of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Thank you.
You are so kind! What a nice comment. Thank you so much!!
You're just amazing no other words for you, you have a soothing and healing vibe about you which is perfect for anyone wishing to play music, you make us feel like we are both worthy and able to make beautiful music. Thank you.
hey Gracie! I love your videos, I've been watching them ever since I started studying music therapy in college last year. I know this isn't a theory specific video, but if you were ever considering doing a video on composing four-part harmony and voice leading best practices it would be super interesting! The way you explain such advanced topics in seemingly short videos really has clarified so much music theory for me. Much love ❤️
Very nice lesson Gracie! That would be great though if you had advanced two octaves since the cross fingers are different when passing through two octaves, and that is trick for newbies, but very good already!
Thank you Gracie, I've got about halfway through this video, now I need to practice. Wonderful thank. Cheers Dave
All of UR vids are KEEPERS! I watch this for a long time.
my sister is just starting out learning piano / keyboard.... your lesson is perfect!
moreover, I've just decided to learn along with her :)
thank you, doubly!
Thank you. Great content as always.
Excellent lesson ! Great teacher ! Thank you !
Your channel should have 1million subs! God bless you for sharing this much. 😍
Thank you so much for your classes. Greeting from Brazil!
I like the crossover and cross-under tip! I've just started to play the keyboard and I really enjoy it! I've recently been playing the "Westminster Chimes."
Thank You, Madam. Very useful video. Thanks once again.😊
what a God send you are with these videos! Thank you!
Excellent Teacher.Thank you
Wonderfully mind numbing. Ordering my piano keyboard soon.
Thanks Gracie, don't we all just love doing our scales haha, thanks for this I will definately enjoy have a play with them later :)
Another Kick-Ass Presentation, Gracie ~
Love You And your Channel ~
Thanks so much!
@@GracieTerzian Hey Gracie, Question: these "other" fingerings- are they because of the Maj Chord positioning,Diatonics,Parallels or the Relative minors? I wonder why it morphes a little.
As a guitarist, I find this piano lessons very useful! Thank you Gracie!!!
Thank you so much. You have no idea how this helped me.
Love all the videos . You are without a doubt one of the best music teachers out there. Quick question when you move to improv will you be doing a series on 251s ?
Thank you so much! Really means a lot. Yes I definitely will make videos about 251 progressions later down the road!
Teacher thank you so much.
Great video Gracie! I always get B flat scale confused w/ B major.
Would you consider doing a video on cadences! I can play them but have difficulty understanding the i progressions .
I love that method, ❤️
Spare my lack of knowledge in the subject, however, while counting the # of scales you listed I noticed that you showed 15, meaning that 3 of the scales are repeated:
C# major = Db major
F# major = Gb major
B major = Cb major
My question is why shall we be concerned about playing the same scale under different names? FYI: I'm a beginner.
Excellent content you always publish! Keep doing this great work!
I appreciate the timestamps, but you can also mark chapters in the video somehow, which does the same thing but is better integrated with the video player.
ကျေးဇူးပါ အရမ်းချစ်တယ်နော် ဆရာမ
Thank you Gracie!!! As a guitarist who sometimes noodles around on the keyboard, know a few chords on it etc., this is a highly useful summary for me. I'll be spending time with it ... :)
Same here!
Oh! Thank you! My life became easier without doubts😂❤🎉
Great video. Is there any rhyme or reason to why these are the correct fingering for each scale ( theory, ergonomics)? If so would love to see you explain in a video. Thanks for all you do.
This is interesting! I'm not a piano player, just guitar, but I've been analyzing the key layout of the piano a bit and wondered about the fingering. I'm open to taking lessons down the line, but if the learning curve is anything like the guitar instrument, I'll happily pass, haha.
At least the keyboard is "linear". That helps Me a lot.
Thinking caps folks💫 Tnx ✌️
This may not work so well 4 Me. I learned(self taught) all those scales, but w/ '"C" fingering. I saw Gracie do an Orthodox minor scale & knew right there; UH-OH! Back 2 the drawing board.
I imagine these are suggested fingerings? Whatever fingering is used is supposed to make playing the scales easier.
Hey Gracie, Thank you for sharing. I am wondering what rules would apply when you play them over multiple octaves. Could you share some of your wisdom on that ?:D
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hi!! Just wondering if the fingerings also do apply also to the minor scales?
I just have to point out that in the cover pic for this vid, that looks like child's play chucky sticking his hand out and waving. jus' sayin'. Awesome series btw - and thank you
Hi Gracie, I am having trouble finding the pdf printable lessons
what about playing all major and minor scales the same fingering - that of C major
In fact I am successful with this at all Es major and minor scales
but i would like to hear the opinion of someone more advanced than me,
Why do you have to learn scales? When you go to play a song for example, does the finger placement always fit within a scale? Is this relevant for every song or any song? I am new to piano and can play the first parts of many songs but cannot read sheet music yet.
hello Gracie big hug;)
Hello! Big hug back!
@@GracieTerzian I'll let Roz do all the hugs. The world has gotten strange; but the sentiment is definitely there.
why those?
and is it the same for chords?
Do these work for 2 octave scales?
So it's 5-3 or 3-5
Do not see time stamps. Thank you.
Bflat could be difficult
Yes how to play the fifth

As a pianist. Learning scales is nothing. I also play guitar and find that the fret board is a beast of six strings that are shift a 4th degree except the B string. Let alone that each string on a standard guitar has 15 half notes. Then to learn 1 octave, 2 octave and three octave scales is mind boggling. Also to learn chord shapes and bar chords. Then to learn tabliture, instead of learn music from sheet music is a pain in the butt. Then there is alternate tuning, scales and chords included. Then there is the capo, not just with one, but to the nth degree of how many you want on the fret board. The there is tapping and pull off. Then there is en-harmonics. Then there are styles of genre. How much of this have you learned. Now go learn how to shred. Give me a piano concerto any day.
You came to a piano tutorial about scales to rant about how “difficult” it is to learn the guitar??? Why?
@@melvinbrookins6313 I play them both. And it is not a rant as much as there is so much more that you can do with the guitar than you can do with a piano. On the guitar you can start the scale off on finger 1 2 3 or 4 and have a different pattern for each. You can also have scale finger patterns for the 6 strings, 5 strings, 4 strings, and 3 strings. There is a lot more to learn.
@@rbebut1 but what does any of that have to do with learning fingerings for piano scales… both of your comments scream 1 upper to the fullest for absolutely no reason. thats great that theres sooo much more to learn while playing the guitar. just be grateful that you find joy in playing while you still can…
