I have Ehlers-Danlos, and I have been doing occupational therapy, to work with my winged scapula, the workouts are difficult for me, especially since my sternoclavicular joint on my right collarbone seems to try to come apart.
Hi, I have this same problem on my right side. It sorta just presented itself a couple of years ago after a significant weight loss. I also have had bilateral frozen shoulders in the past. My GP said he thought that this scapula issue could be related to my thoracic scoliosis. I would love your thoughts and/or suggestions. Your videos are so informative and on point. Thanks so much
Hi, my doctor said the exact thing about my thoracic scoliosis. I dont have restricted range of motion but do have some discomfort on my shoulder joint. please Let me know what was the final diagnosis and remedy. May be it will help me as well.
Hi, I just saw these couple of you that are having the same issue so I wanted to leave a little response. I have not gotten anything done yet with this because I have other more critical problems to deal with first. As soon as I’m able to, I’m planning on going to my orthopedic surgeon that did my frozen shoulder surgeries to see what he says about this winging situation because at this point I can’t even sit straight in a chair or get comfortable in bed. I will try my best to leave an update. In the meantime, hopefully, this PT will help us all.
My trapezius muscle isn't functioning due to a nerve damage on my neck... can I still do physiotherapy? My scapula starts to wing more and more every day because the muscle is shrinking
Had a question doc I believe I have this issue stemming from a shoulder injury during football 15 years ago that being said is it too late to resolve this issue
I am Hossam from Algeria, I have this problem ten years ago which caused me to be unable to raise my hands up. I was treated a lot in my country Algeria, but because of the bad possibilities they could not do, I need help. Either this became a complex in my life, it destroyed my youth, what do you advise me, dearest doctor?

I have no idea how I injured my shoulder woke up a week ago and began to have shoulder aching as of my shoulder muscle was sore. Never went away then noticed I couldn’t lift my arm much over my head and some pain. It’s been over a week supposed to start PT next week but I can’t stand this dual continuous aching pain . It’s hard to find a sweet spot to stop the pain. Never had any shoulder issues before. I do work out . I’m 48 .. just trying to find info on what I’m going thru and what to do.
So many things could be going on. I would start by ruling out Parsonage Turner syndrome, frozen shoulder, cervical herniated disc, rotator cuff etc... A PT should be able to help sort this out. Good luck!
I’ve had it since my cervical disc replacement surgery in 2018. I’ve lost almost all my strength due to this. I’ve tried all the PT in the world with no results. What happens when there’s no alternative? Am I screwed for life?
Interesting. Came here because recently my top left shoulder started hurting. I have fill range of motion but it just hurts. Trying to find out what's going on
Hello Dr, I have the exact same problem on my right side but I’ve also noticed that my right latissimus dorsi has almost completely disappeared. Will it reappear as the nerve regenerates/winging stops or will I require surgery?
erm i have this thing where i can shoot out my shoulderblades like 6 inches looks identical to scapular winging but has never hurt me can somone explain
Yes, some people can do that. Just the way you are able to control those muscles. If it's equal, no pain and full function then we don't worry about it. Thanks for the question.
I just woke up with this 2 days ago. I just had pain the first night so far. Anytime I move my right arm up like her my scapula on the right side will pop out as well.. how do I know what movements not to do? Any advice is helpful thanks

Getting strong Mike is important. Working in the ranges that keep all joints in place can be tough. Keep at it!
Can you please post a video how you treat patients?
I have the same issue.
Please 🙏

Treatment for upper-raised scapula winging is possible?
The winging looks quite lateral from the angle we are seeing. How can you differentiate between a medial and lateral winging?
Did she heal?

Would you look at working on the SERRATUS anterior ?
I have this and my chiropractor hasn't taken it seriously but that's the reason I went to go see him. How should I get him to help me treat it?
I might suggest seeing someone familiar with winging. Physiatrist, PT, Orthopedic specialist

Shoulder blade numbness is not common. Should see a neurologist or physiatrist

when did your winging start? its might be the cause of atrophy if your muscles tend to rest for a long period of time.
Get an EMG with an **experienced** neurologist. The combination suggests Parsonage-Turner syndrome. (I am not a doctor, but I do have PTS)
Is there such a thing as repairing the long thoracic nerve?

Thats is very easy to solve.
its just as simple as to ask her to bring her right shoulder back, correct her forward carriage.
Long thoracic nerve affects mainly the Serratus Anterior muscle. Shldnt it be this muscle be the main target for stimulation?
That would be ideal but would require a deep needle be inserted into the serratus.
