I have a focus st3 and a 1990 miata in the garage - this really makes you appreciate how they made those old miatas so light (published weight 2185lbs). It's probably just overall a more stout construction, reinforced crash zones, etc. that makes that extra 1000+ lbs of the focus.
I have a Mishimoto black intercooler on my ST, tuned by stratified. Intake temps lately are only 5-10 degrees higher than ambient if I'm pushing the car. It def helps that its fairly cool in Texas right now though. In the summer I might see a larger variance there.
Hey, just a suggestion. I do my pulls on my REX around the same area in AZ. You're doing pulls on pavement that's downhill, that could affect your readings in terms of power. Just throwing it out there because I have done the same. Nice videos!
I have datalogs before and after intercooler replacement and it is 100% the first mod that should be done to the car, went from 100+ degrees over ambient during a single pull with stock intercooler, to the 3.5" intercooler keeping it at ambient or even somtimes below depending on the weather
Dropping below ambient is literally a thermodynamics impossibility. You'd have to have methanol injection or something to that effect for that to be possible.
@@Bladesje maybe you're not understanding the concept. If ambient is 70F, your intercooler CANNOT cool below 70F. That is a thermodynamics impossibility. Additional cooling from another means would be required. Really, the temperature is irrelevant, as I said earlier, and intercooler alone CANNOT cool below ambient. It's impossible.
What's the black smoke on Dyno after boost comes up? Mine did the same and does also when starting the car, and want to figure out what's that. It's just started few months ago, sometimes 2+ sec cranking on start, usually less 1sec. I'm on new spark plugs, went from cp2 to revo stage2, sports cat, big IC, itg intake.
So, still have the steering rack limiters? Also, no antifreeze in the reservoir tank. You may want to look into a new Radiator for when you replace the Intercooler, you're going to need it.
I'm having trouble calculating E50/54 Az. E85 is easy to calc. E30 or 54 is not. And Foc ST's are already at a penalty since 91 lowers power alot. I asked a Ford engineer how much of a loss, he said 12 hp and tq. I have seen many Foc ST's on the dyno on a proper dynojet 248, they tend to be around 208 to 220 whp. There's 95 at the pump at Toms Thumb, now called The Thumb I think.

I got a 16 st i slid off the on ramp and into a ditch due to rain downpour, i broke a coolant hose and twisted the bottom radiator support, bumper is beat up and my moshimoto intercooler broke 2 of its mounting brackets on the passenger side so i had to ziptie that summbitch together to get home, hurts man hurts bad hope you get yours together soon and me smh lol

You asked and they said it was definitely 85%. Lol There is only one gas station which sells 85%. All other gas stations are 51% in the greater phx area, fyi. I wouldnt just take their word on it as most attendants assume its 85% cuz its called e85. Nothing can be farther from the truth.
I was thinking the same thing. They also have a sign there that says "ethanol testers inside", just curious where is the 85% station you are talking about in Phoenix? My Chevron in Buckeye used to sell 85 but for the past year and a half or so it's been 51, even in summer.
@@bobbydouglas16 E30 is key word, on E85 i think its safe to run 26-27 on the stock ko3 but nothing more. Thats the limit (also im on a fusion 2.0 awd not a focus st)
@Dr Beechas agreed, the car drops off in the top end, it only hits peak at around 3,000sum-4,000 sum rpm. Given solved with a upgraded turbo and possibly the waste gate thats on it or aftermarket ad some turbo kits i saw come with a internal waste gate already
@Dr Beechas the big turbo kits i saw seemed to already have the waste gate integrated, but i personally might get rid of it, since im on a 2.0 fusion from the 2018 with the gen 2 Ecoboost 2.0, i run into subtle changed which= different problems. I think i might just get a closed deck earlier gen from the fusions or st as the new ones have the open deck like the RS and steel sleeves are an option... buttt they have their own issues

hey man, the map slot function when you get your tune will typically function within your cruise control buttons on your steering wheel. you hit “can” and then after you toggle up or down with the plus or minus buttons for your different slots. the tach will point at the number for the slot you’re in

I got Cobb and never have got above 5 degrees above Ambient temperature I also have the Cobb charge pipes cobb cold intake and snorkel ford performance
@3:15 just drips to and from the pump XD I always have a paper towel tucked into the fueling area. Then after filling up, I tap the nozzle a few times back and forth inside, then use the paper towel to wipe the nozzle off (and wipe off my filler hole/surrounding area). So I have yet to get an E30/ethanol tune. Cant you just say: (hypothetically) "12 gal tank. E30 would be "3 gallons of E85". then any time you fill up, you can just toss in 3 gallons E85 and the rest with Premium (93 in my case)?" Or since its already blended, you have to factor in the remaining fuel or you'll creep up the ethanol percentage? I have 93 everywhere, im currently on Cobb's OTS stage 3 (93 octane) tune and when I decide who to get my custom tune through, I'm 99% sure Im going to pay for both the 93 and E30 tunes so i can switch. It's nice just filling up regularly every few days...but for weekend cruises and stuff I'd like to get that extra 'juice' out of the engine when I want it! Car is awesome! But I am very surprised you're still rolling around with a stock FMIC! Any tuner worth a damn I wouldnt imagine even working on it without the upgrade.
The K03 turbos are straight heaters. Without a better intercooler it gets so hot so quick. Fell back in love with my focus after installing mine. Charge air Temps are rarely above 5° ambient temp.
my st came with a cpe dual core intercooler, rsr 3" catback, k&n cone filter and some other stuff I'm not aware of yet. It makes all the right noises so now I'm wondering what else has been done. Next step will be e30 tune. Thanks for the videos.

I think it would be easier to just set up the E30 calculation for 100 gallons, and then write that ratio down. Then just set up a simple ration between your gas tank volume and 100 gal to get the amount of e85 needed.

Get a airtec stage 2 induction kit and a airtec stage 2 inter cooler. Then put more boost, you’ll see a much higher gain in HP 300-330 ish

Val vista and broadway. Owner has e85 tuned car so he stocks up in between State inspections.
ALL other e85, to my knowledge, is 51% in AZ.

was hitting 22.3 on 91 octane last night :D focus st is fun as hell going up hills here where I live. That torque on stage 3 tune is unbelievable

Where is this E85 Chevron O.O. Every station I visit in AZ for the past year or more has been E51 :( Even in the summer.
@Berserk this looks like the Chevron on Val Vista and Broadway. They have the highest % of ethanol that I'm aware of. Usually tests between 70-80%
