    “We’re talking about a change in how humanity organises itself.”
    - Andreas M. Antonopoulos
    Interview location: Skype
    Interview date: Thursday 28th Feb, 2019
    Company: Independent
    Role: Bitcoin & Open Blockchain Expert, Speaker, Author
    Bitcoin, the decentralised, trustless, censorship-resistant money.
    Bitcoin, digital gold and the hardest form of money the world has.
    Bitcoin, a financial infrastructure built for the digital age.
    Whatever Bitcoin is to you, it is young, it is maturing, and it is growing in its use cases. Individuals and companies around the world are increasingly adopting Bitcoin; governments are regulating; institutions are investing and developers are building.
    Bitcoin is still on the edges; it is niche; it is for the geeks and the speculators, the early adopters and entrepreneurs. But as Bitcoin continues to grow its impact upon humanity will be profound. It is a fundamental shift in what money and value are and how it is held and moved.
    In this interview, I talk with Andreas M. Antonopoulos about what happens when Bitcoin takes over. We also discuss Bitcoin use cases and the ah-ha moments which can shift your perception of what Bitcoin is and what it means.

    the way Andreas describes the main issue as one of scaling and architecture and how banking was a great liberalizer and poverty reducer that is not scaling well due to its hierarchical, bureaucratic architecture and how decentralized systems will allow us to move governance models into the 21st century was a brilliant insight - wow.

    I rarely if ever comment on RUclips videos but feel compelled to now.
    What an exciting interview! So much to learn from this. Really interesting to hear the ideas about this being 25 years into the fourth stage of humanity (hunter gatherer, agricultural revolution, industrial revolution, information revolution) and that bitcoin brings money and horizontal organisational structures into this fourth stage of the Internet and information exchange.
    Andreas seems to get a bit defensive towards the end when the interviewer challenges him on his claim that speculative investment in bitcoin is a negative side effect of this software technology.
    Thank you to whoever made this interview happen and for us to be able to hear these crucial ideas that are of great significance to humanity and can have such a positive effect on the future of communities around the world. Great work.

    • @wanashthegash
      @wanashthegash 5 лет назад

      meh, he is kinda right about the speculative investment part, there are tons of people invested in all kind of coins out there that only do it due to fomo and greed, and iam probably one of them, i do this because of MONEY, and it can have a very negative outcome, noone knows, i think we will see a mania sooner or later, and thats whats iam betting on.
      Andreas bets on the technology, and is one of the person in the space that has a pretty clear view on this technology, and is also very open minded, in contrary to someone like tone vays who is extremly close minded, and frankly makes him look more stupid then actually knowledgable.

      @@benwehrman Great question, very difficult to answer. there's just been soo much great content I've seen for almost 5 yrs. now. I would say it depends on your experience level, conviction, as well as what brought you into this space. Some folks are intrigued by the pure technology while others are motivated by other factors such as the economics, philosophy, or geopolitical implications. I would say more recently the Breedlove/Saylor - 5 part "What is Money?" series has been really good. Also, there's a Hass McCook presentation from a year ago called "Bitcoin in 90 mins." that's also really good.

    New term I coined years ago, I think, malevolendipity, fits many of the explanations Andreas gives. The antonym of malevolendipity is serendipity, so it's definition is something like this: "malevolendipity is the occurrence and development of events by chance in a sad or destructive way". The aggregate of all of our choices and actions is producing current outcomes.

    the end of fiat is fast approaching simply due to the exponential nature of the debt that it’s based on.

    • @yomajo
      @yomajo 5 лет назад +1

      Modern monetary theory sees no problem with increasing debt. Practice of this is evident - world does not fail. Why would FIAT fall? (devil's advocate)

    • @endthefed5304
      @endthefed5304 5 лет назад

      @@yomajo because what you see in Venezuela is the tip of the iceberg because the entire world is on a currency that has no backing of anything real. This allows massive money-printing which ends up hyper inflating all currencies. If you understand fractional Reserve banking then you understand that the debt must increase simply as a matter of how that operation proceeds when it creates the money for a loan but not the interest. It is mathematically certain to go exponential.

    • @yomajo
      @yomajo 5 лет назад

      @@endthefed5304 Venezuela's crash is not the evidence of faulty monetary system. Oil based economy (crash in oil prices, hence GDP), massive corruption, debt in US dollars, politics, SOCIALISM are among the most crucial factors that led to Bolivars lying on the streets.
      Again - I would like to remind, that I'm playing devil's advocate.

      @@yomajo I think that as more people realize that fiat (and MMT) get their value, for lack of a better phrase, from State violence they will switch over to an alternative. Crypto seems like the most viable replacement currency, especially as blockchain technology becomes more and more integrated into the internet. If MMT keeps getting pushed by the socialists in the US then I think the threat of violence it requires will become easier for the public to see. I hope so, at least.

    • @1greenMitsi

      Rubbish; debt is just a number that grows over time, the death of fiat will only ever happen if our creditors (owners) 'call the loan' on the National debt (which is just about every country on earth). They will never call the loan as there isnt enough fiat in the system to pay it back....and these people aint after fiat, theyre after more power

      He's got reliable income and manages his commitments well. Mixed with no parenting obligations and you leave yourself with loads of time.

    it really is that simple THE BIGGEST HUMAN PROBLEM NOT SOLVE IS HUMAN NATURE . People over think this. We have definitely shown a demand for it..look at any survey of bitcoin. Millennial don't just trade it, they view it as a long term thing

    i've used kraken for about a year now.... no problems at all..... get your crypto off immediately after buying it. only real issue for US customer is funding - the only method available is xfer crypto in or bank wire. other issue is only a limited number of crypto to choose - but it has all the ones i'm interested in.

    I'm mainly in bitcoin, but I feel sorry that u feel sorry because someone defended Ethereum a bit. It's a bitcoin cast and that's great and fine, but I don't think it should be a maximalist and intolerant cast.
