Also, note that the wrong has already been done (slapped is in past tense). Self-defense is avoiding being slapped or harmed (future tense). When faced with deadly force (gun, knife, baseball bat, etc.), we have the right or obligation (if a loved one is threatened) to defend ourselves. There is absolutely no Biblical evidence for simply letting someone harm you.
Suffer injustice? Yes. Get shot, stabbed or beaten without cause? No.
Vengeance is another matter entirely. "Mine is the vengeance, says the Lord." So, while we can defend ourselves, we should not go looking for trouble by doing what God says He will do.

@wellspring2life There has already been violence in heaven if you remember God and Satan having a war in heaven and all the angels that took Satan's side were all cast out too. Violence is in every realm, and so is peace after the violence. To have peace there must be violence first to know the difference. Black-white, yin-yang, positive-negative, right-wrong, action- reaction, God-Satan. It's all the same meaning of knowing the differences...that's my philosophy. If Christians and others did not go to war against evil empires eg, Assyrian empire,Babylon empire, Rome, Hittler then ALL Gods first children 'Jews' would be extinct long ago. Don't forget one of Jesus's apostles carried a sword too. To me violence is exepted by God if it is done in his name with 1 reason only "Righteousness" God is TRUTH. Satan is lies. Lies create wars & violence nothing else. That's the way I see things. It's called common sense as well. To me a person with good common sense will have a much better chance to enter heaven than someone with knowledge. Common sense cannot be taught only learnt from experiences and observations. Eg. You can tell someone for the first time seeing fire 🔥 and tell them it's hot & not to touch, but until they approach it they will never know what you mean.

    • @thatotherbloke9790
      @thatotherbloke9790 2 года назад

@wellspring2life like I said God only forgives violence if it is done threw Righteousness. Otherwise Hittler, and Japan would have would've taken over the world. The only way to fight fire is with fire. The Jews would've been wiped out by Hittler if Christians didn't fight for them in WW2. It was the Christian nations that fought off the Germans & Japan. I know that Jesus was not gonna save them...not yet anyway. God used mortal men to do it. So to conclude what I said, without violence there is no peace because with peace there's no violence. It's always been one or the other through history. So God is just as peaceful as he is violent. He has to be as the devil is always violent. Like I said you must fight fire with fire.

    • @thatotherbloke9790
      @thatotherbloke9790 2 года назад

@wellspring2life Have you ever been home invaded and had a knife stuck to your throat pinned against a wall in the dark and robbed. I have, I went to the cops told them what happened and who did it...they didn't give a shit and for telling the cops the bastards robbed my house again when i was out 2 days later. I said after that day I will arm myself with many weapons spread through my house and never let that happen again. Just as this world takeover that's under way. Anyone tries to come in my house and harm me my kids or my misses is leaving in a body bag. Everyone will lose on that day if it ever happens. And if go to hell for protecting my family or me so be it. I'll never be on my knees ever again for any man on this planet. If I lose I'll make sure my enemy do too. Even stevens. I'll never harm an innocent person but if you want to bring violence to me expect it 10 fold back. I've been shot, stabbed, bashed, burnt, robbed and I've drawn the line 28yrs ago. And I'd rather die fighting back than living in a cell waiting for execution. I'll never give my enemies whoever they shall be the satisfaction of domination over me..ever. So if that's a sin than maybe I'll be better off in hell being the only righteous man there.

It's not what he intended. I try to weigh things in light of this, so if someone wants to cause me harm, that falls into an anti life action. It may not cause my death, but could cause mental illness from stress which in turn brings illness to the body. The last pro life solution (if there is no other way out) is to fight back.

It is hard for many who proclaim the Lord to disconnect themselves from the violent patterns of this world because it is so engrained within individual cultures especially America. And so , they place there love for those within reach above the love for God because the world is so violent choosing to meet violence with violence above all other alternatives. Many professing Yeshua are so engrained in violent culture that anything other than violent resistance is passivity and cowardly. So according to many when you argue for non-violent resistance their minds automatically think your a coward or passive even though one is not nor is being passive.
These professors of Yeshua are so confused of Fathers Will, placeing themselves in positions of power as agents of vengeance and wrath that decide toward and physically wield the sword against evil. Even though God commands to not be those agents because God commands to not take vengeance and to put away wrath.
It is bad enough that people professing Yeshua as King, decide to vote in another leader instead of relying on Him to provide and protect that we have what we need and can by prayer on behalf of foreign rulers to have good welfare that we lead a peaceful and quite life in holiness.
The West especially in America has been dominated by christian cults that love violence, trying to place themselves in positions of power to make the country they reside their own earthly jerusalem. Yet Yeshua never commanded this but instead said we are citizens of the heavenly Jerusalem awaiting the Kingdom built by Gods hands and not humanities.

I have a wild-card question: this is not specifically about Simon and Alba but I'll use their names anyways. What if Simon told Alba that he was going to have to apologize to his girlfriend. And Alba replies saying he would do no such thing. Simon then becomes ferocious upon seeing that Alba is not kowtowing to him and so he violently shoves Alba to the floor and commands him to kiss his shoes. Alba becomes convinced that he needs to put up with kissing Simon's shoes and that Simon would in all probability try to compound the humiliation by asking him to lick his shoes as well. Alba also realizes that if he does not completely kowtow to Simon that Simon will continue the beating. This is realized because every effort that he makes to show defiance or resistance results in him getting slapped or shoved down. He decides to wait it out, but Simon is getting more aggressive with each passing moment and it is clear that he's not going to put up with anything other than the complete humiliation of Alba. So I think I've created a situation in which a reasonable person would believe that Alba will in all probability be maimed or killed if he does not comply. I also believe that a reasonable person would believe that if Alba allows himself to be humiliated he will not be maimed or killed. Let's suppose the Alba decides he will not consent to being party to his own humiliation and thus he will use lethal force to extract himself from the confrontation. Would this be justified? And just to be repetitive, there is another alternative. He could kowtow to Simon and kiss and lick his shoes and beg for mercy. Given that there's an alternative to using lethal force, is he restricted from using lethal force?

    • @nate4z
      @nate4z Год назад +2

it depends. if "alba" didn't say anything wrong then he should just tell Simon "i didn't do anything wrong, but if there is something i did wrong, i apologies, so please let me know what i can do to make things better" then if Simon is still angry and keeps insisting, alba should maintain diplomacy and then just walk away to avoid further trouble. If Simon strikes alba but it doesn't do damage, alba should just let it slide. however if simon threatens alba's family, he should involve the authirities. now if there are no authorities at all and Simon intends on immediately harming Alba's loved ones, then it his his duty as a Christian to defend his family.
now me personally. I avoid problems and if problems come at me, in the past i would've fought, but now, by God's help im trying to be more diplomatic. however, if a fight ensues, i just dodge punches or block instead of hitting back and/or run away. now if someone threatened my family, friends, loved ones or anyone who didn't deserve to be threatened, there are the steps i would take:
      * involve authorities
      * if authorities aren't available or there's no need, try to de escalate
      * if de eacalation doesnt work, then jus fight back bro.
The Bible says we should defend those we love and defend what is right. if someone hits you, let it slide, turn the other cheek, but if someone hits someone you love, then hit them back. either way, let's pray God protects us from that situation. May God bless you and guide us all, Amen.

Alba should just say no and get on with his life without any further explanations.
In this case Simon speaks with false authority and it can always be countered by the Holy Spirit. When satan tempted Jesus after his forty days of fasting, he asked him to jump off a cliff to which Jesus declined. satan didn't push him down that cliff, he has no such authority. Resist satan's false authority over your life. This attempted violation of Alba by Simon should be treated as a demon manifestation. Demons should be cast out in the name of Jesus. If Simon continues in that line, Alba should exorcise the demon out of him. But saying no without any further explanations should be enough in most cases. Try it some time.

I hear Wayne here saying a lot “I think”. In others words, “this is my opinion.”
The early leaders in the church’s infancy where it exploded in growth was an emphasis on enemy love. The yeast of enemy love doctrine runs all throughout their sermons and letters and apologetics. Their emphasis on non violent love for neighbor AND enemy is so overwhelming it’s THE distinguishing mark of a Christian.
Wayne forgets that in the garden, when Peter actually used the sword, Jesus rebukes him. Tertullian, a very early Christian leader, said that when our Lord disarmed Peter, he disarmed every soldier.
Paul, likewise, when describing a Christian soldier’s weapons always differentiates a sword of the Spirit with the sword of this world.
The NT emphasis on The God OF peace, love your enemy, overcome evil with good, pour out your life as Jesus, do good unto those who persecute you, do not avenge yourself but rather leave room for God’s wrath, he who says he loves God and hates another is a liar, raise your hands in prayer (contrasted with raising your hands in harm), peace on earth and goodwill towards men, the glad tidings of the gospel of peace, etc etc etc etc etc.
To ignore the proactive love and nonresistance towards neighbor and enemy is to ignore the NT core and central teachings.
Read the early church fathers and learn Christ.
There were many disagreements in the early church just as there are today in almost every faith and practice, however, there was one nonnegotiable, LOVE. Love for God. Love for neighbor. But THE distinguishing mark of a Christian was Love for enemy.
    Grace and peace all. 😊

The issue is whether you sit back and watch as a rapist breaks into your home, ravages your wife and castrates your sons. Does the Bible teach you sit back and watch, or defend you family. The Bible clearly teaches you are responsible to protect and provide for your family. If you decide to just allow a man to come in have his way with your wife and kids, then something is massively wrong with your logic, and I mean that in a respectable way.

How is it loving your neighbor if you don't defend your neighbor? How is it doing unto others if you would rather be defended, and you don't defend others? Either way you're sinning so you may as well defend yourself and the other and ask forgiveness. Even if I sin, God's grace abounds and I'm saved by my faith. I would shoot someone who tried to kill my family then ask forgiveness.
God would grant me that forgiveness because Jesus died for the real sinner, not the imaginary sinner. Most sins aren't necessary and God's grace enables me to help others but sometimes necessary sins have to happen.
God is also sovereign. If Constantine was not meant to do as he did, God wouldn't have allowed it. God controls what happens and controls what is in the Bible. God even predetermines His elect and who is saved in many cases.

      HollowVision
I must tell you that as a born-again Christian, I am commanded by Jesus not to engage in the act of self defense or fighting, for this world is not my eternal home and this is not my kingdom.
“Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm.””
      ‭‭John‬ ‭18:36‬ ‭
As you can see, Jesus speaks to Pilate and says that His kingdom is not of this world, or, He would command His disciples to FIGHT. But He isn't commanding His disciples to fight. In the following section, you will see that He is commanding His followers to a life of peace and pacifism.
Jesus said in Matthew 5:9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God."
He speaks later about it in the chapter: 43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may prove yourselves to be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Even the tax collectors, do they not do the same? 47 And if you greet only your brothers and sisters, what more are you doing than others? Even the Gentiles, do they not do the same? 48 Therefore you shall be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect."
This means that I cannot join the military and wage war against other human beings, whom Jesus died for, too. He is commanding us to love our enemies, and bless those who curse us. To give to those who want to take from us, and if someone FORCES us to go one mile, go with him two. To pray for those who persecute us for the faith, not strike them. Our eternity is not on this earth, why do you wish to preserve your life yourself, do you not trust God to bring justice and vengeance??
38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’ 39 But I say to you, do not show opposition against an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other toward him also. 40 And if anyone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your [ah]cloak also. 41 Whoever forces you to go one mile, go with him two. 42 Give to him who asks of you, and do not turn away from him who wants to borrow from you."
1 Thessalonians 5:14-15 "14 We urge you, brothers and sisters, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone. 15 See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek what is good for one another and for all people."
Romans 12:14-2114 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. 16 Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation. 17 Never repay evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the sight of all people. 18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all people. 19 Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written: “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 “But if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
      1 Peter 2:21-24
"21 For you have been called for this purpose, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you would follow in His steps, 22 He who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in His mouth; 23 and while being abusively insulted, He did not insult in return; while suffering, He did not threaten, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously; 24 and He Himself brought our sins in His body up on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live for righteousness; by His wounds you were healed."
Peter is making a point, that if we say that we have come to know Jesus, we are going to use His life and death as an example to follow, if the same thing happens to us.
John also speaks of these same things in the book of 1 John 2:3-6 "3 By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; 5 but whoever follows His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him: 6 the one who says that he remains in Him ought, himself also, walk just as He walked."
Finally, in 1 John once again, the writer is making it clear that if we are actively saying that we are Christians, or having Christian fellowship with one another, but are walking and living against Jesus's commandments, WE ARE LIARS and the truth is not in us:
      1 John 1:5-7
5 This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; 7 but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
Jesus also makes a point in John 14 on multiple occasions, that we can know if we have come to know Him, if we are actively keeping His commandments:
"21 The one who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and the one who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will reveal Myself to him.”
      and...
"23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will follow My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our dwelling with him. 24 The one who does not love Me does not follow My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent Me."

The issue with pacifism is if you see a helpless person (woman, child, elderly) being attacked and you can stop it, not stopping it would be morally bad.
There are stories in the bible where God sends people, armies, angels or animals to defend the innocent from evil people, so self defence is within Gods good nature and seen as morally good because God can not do evil.

You have to read the whole chapter of that 'turn the other cheek...' because it only means for the disciples during Christ's time. It says there that during Christ time there was a great deception that many people will kill Christ's disciples thinking they are doing it for God. That is why Christ said to turn the other cheek but he did not say you should not flee or not to defend yourself. Christ was only saying that due to the confusion during that time be tolerant as much as you can but you can still defend or flee. It is somewhere in the book of John in the new testament read the whole chapter so you'll understand.

When you encounter opposition - your human ego stands up bristling in self-defense. The Ego's job as "Guardian of Individuality" is to ensure your survival. Therefore - it springs to your defense and you feel that opposition in any form - is intolerable and not to be borne.
As a result - you find your mind and emotions becoming agitated - resentful and heated - and you want to hit back - to make the opposition go away - whether it is justified or not.
This is something that people must understand about the Ego - it is absolutely lacking in insight - objectivity and spontaneous sense of justice.
When you are controlled by the Ego - the consciousness vibrations you are now emitting are so off balance - so devoid of good sense - that they adversely affect the people around you and create consciousness blueprints of so much disharmony that they begin to affect your future experiences - activities and situations.
It is vitally important to your future welfare and life that you wake up to the fact that you are not the victim of your circumstances and the experiences in your life - but the CREATOR of them.
For instance - if - during the day - you create a rumpus or argument with work mates or boss - when you return home from your work to your nearest and dearest in the evenings - you may be still controlled by the resentful Ego. If so - you no longer speak from the quietness of the Truth or from any spiritual values you may possess - for these will now be discolored and distorted by the run-away emotions you created for yourself at work earlier in the day.
Equally - in the morning - you may emerge from your home (which should be a place where your spirit is renewed and your heart uplifted in warmth) - but you walk through your front door swathed with the disquiet of early morning grumpy reactions to and from your partner.
Perhaps you had a row with your partner over one grievance or another and tried to heal it with sex - only to find that while sex seemed to bring you emotionally closer again - it did not really satisfy - and it did not heal the resentment. You must understand that when you have unprotected sex - you exchange not only your body fluids but also your consciousness.
Many people's consciousness is constantly so reactive - even hostile - towards mankind and life generally - that it not only reduces the physical health of the individual but also adversely affects their partner's physical and emotional well-being.
When - after a hurtful row you have sex to "make-up" the quarrel - you are then also infused with the consciousness of your partner's bad feelings. All unknowingly - you take those to work with you as well as your own.
I am explaining to you exactly how the world (which many call solid) - is really CONSCIOUSNESS energy - fashioned out of bad temper consciousness forms or those of love and good humor - affecting our health and performance in life for good or ill. Whatever kind of consciousness we are creating - we leave our energy imprint on everything we encounter… including our car - our computer and anything else we may be using during the day.
      "How can this be?"
Because the entire universe with all its galaxies - is only CONSCIOUSNESS - LOVE/INTELLIGENCE in Its highest form working through the interactions of electromagnetism. ELECTROMAGNETISM is really the "stuff" of human mind power and emotional impulses - as we are seen within the field of earthly life.
You must fully understand that nothing is solid. All you see - feel and touch - are really CONSCIOUSNESS IMPULSES made visible through the interplay of electromagnetism.
When you have fully understood this and have seen the true place you occupy in creating good health or non-health - happiness or non-happiness FOR YOURSELF AND OTHER PEOPLE - you may then be persuaded that the only sensible way forward is to -
WALK CHRIST'S WAY... the WAY of UNCONDITIONAL LOVE
How can you begin to change your normal thought patterns and master your unruly emotions?
You can do it by exercising willpower. But when you rely on your willpower - you are leaning on the same Ego consciousness as causes you to lose your sense of emotional balance. This is like using treacle to wipe away a mess of treacle.
Or you can learn to control the Ego by seeking to know and make contact with the SOURCE of our BEING - which Jesus termed the "Father."

Mankind has been given a natural inbuilt propensity for self-will and a controlling desire for self-gratification and self-defense.
This is not sin - but part of the natural creative processes.
There is no "punishment" from on high!
Mankind - through the willful and harmful exercise of the Ego - draw to themselves their own punishment.
For this reason - just as scientific school text-books become redundant as the human mind discovers and absorbs more advanced scientific knowledge - so should the present form of "Christianity" - built upon spurious doctrines centred around Jesus' crucifixion - be allowed to die a natural death.
Our present global crisis - introducing a new break down of International Law and laying the foundation for future global terrorism - clearly indicates that no religion - including "Christianity" - possesses the requisite knowledge and effective leadership to initiate changes in human mental patterns - which will lead directly to peace and prosperity.

The apostles didn't give us permission to use phones or play sports but that Doesn't mean we can't. Apostle Paul did mention self defense against people commiting crimes read Romans 13 so if someone is breaking the law by trying to assault me and steal my things i do have the right to defend myself especially since they are breaking the law. So, it is this man's opinion that the disciples had swords in Gethsemane (which Jesus told them to get) for the purposes of self-defense when Jesus said it was to fulfill prophecy?? And rebuked them instantly when it was used; healing the person it was used upon, telling Peter to stop for those that live by the sword die by the sword? Is it really necessary to think the Son of God or his disciples needed weapons for self-defense while they are out casting out devils, curing diseases and raising the dead? Quite literally if it was God's will that they not die, one of them could die and they'd raise them back.

Luke ch 22 verses 50-51, are in regards to what he had just got done saying in verses 35-36,
35 And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.
36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
    Luke 22: 50-51
50 And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.
51 And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.
In Joshua ch 2, Joshua was told to obey ALL of the laws given through Moses, when instructed to be courageous and receive the Land.
    Commandment #6 was never excluded.
Then in chapter 5, sometime after listing all of the enemies they conquered over, Joshua was confronted by the commanding Angel of the Lord's army. Joshua asked him are you on either side? The commanding angel replied "NO!" And it was in response to learning who the Angel was, and in response to the NO, Joshua fell on his face.
    Joshua ch 6
Men of war who were armed, made the Wall fall, with no violence, they strictly used faith in God alone, and obedience.
This can be no coincidence after Joshua had fallen on his face, confronted by the commanding Angel of the Lord's army, learning the commander of the Lord's army was on neither side.
Men of war, armed, not using their swords at all, to make a city wall fall to the ground, is a prophecy of Christ's instructions.
Christ instructed apostles to make sure they have a sword, and nothing else at all, to prove in the exact same chapter in which he instructed them to have the sword and nothing else at all, that they never need a physical sword, if practicing faith and obedience.
Got always makes sure that there is a big challenge, for any believer, no matter how obedient their walk is with him.
We can all accept and embrace the challenge, the fact we are all a million miles away from where we could be, in our walk with him. The walk we do have IS very powerful and precious, but nothing like it could be.
    John 15:7
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
For example, how many of us do you know, who get whatever they ask for in Christ?
    Luke 6:27-28
But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
    Luke 6:35
But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.
    Exodus 23:4-5
If you meet your enemy's ox or his donkey going astray, you shall bring it back to him. If you see the donkey of one who hates you lying down under its burden, you shall refrain from leaving him with it; you shall rescue it with him.
    Proverbs 24:17
Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, and let not your heart be glad when he stumbles.
    Proverbs 25:21-22
If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat, and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink, for you will heap burning coals on his head, and the Lord will reward you.
    Matthew 5:38-42
You have heard that it was said, “An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.” But I say to you, “Do not resist the one who is evil.”
    Romans 12:14
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
    Romans 12:17-20
Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.
To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.”
the burning coals, are referring to a tradition they had. The coals were common. They were burning cinders, yes.
They were not directly on their head. They were wrapped in a non flammable material, and offered a comforting warmth, as tradition had it.

I cannot find any New Testament accounts, of any of the Apostles or any other Christians, using carnal weapons to defend themselves. If you can please let me know.
[The one and only scripture in Luke, is often taken out of context]
I believe they understood as did Stephen.
From the book of Acts 6 & 7 --and they chose Stephen, a man Full Of Faith and Of The Holy Ghost...
And as those who opposed him stoned him to death.
Acts 7:60 - And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
Stephen was actually praying, for those who were killing him.
True Christians walk in the spirit, and not after the flesh.
    As the Apostle Paul plainly states;
But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.
For though we walk in the flesh, We Do Not War After The Flesh.
For the weapons of our warfare Are Not Carnal, but mighty Through God to the pulling down of strong holds.
    And again:
For we wrestle Not Against Flesh And Blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against Spiritual Wickedness in high places.

    What
happened in the Old Testament when Almighty God Himself ordered and
watched over His nation Israel, and when He commanded wicked nations to
be totally destroyed for their corruption and evils ways, has nothing
to do with our Christian era.
Almighty God is calling out for the future rulership of the world a
body of "Kings and priests" who are to rule the nations of the world
    with Christ for 1,000 years.
And our commanding officer, the Lord Christ, has instructed that
we do not harm other humans in this present "Dispensation of Grace".
But are to control our corrupted human nature and submit to his
commands and those of his personally ordained Apostles. For this is a
life of probation to see if we are fit and aspire to be faithfully
obedient, and so be granted an entrance into Christ's coming Kingdom.

Im having trouble with this. If someone breaks in to my home to kill my family or if someone starts attacking me am i supposed to let them? What did Jesus mean when he was dieng on the cross and told them to buy swords? I am confused and i know confusion doesn't come from the Lord. I understand that it is wrong to watch this filth on tv and love violence. I understand to love our enemies but love them enough to kill me or a family member? If i was sitting in Church and someone came in there shooting are we supposed to let them shoot us or get away? I need help on this matter

@@jacobortwine7063 Hey Jacob, I saw your comment so I just thought I'd try to help on the matter. In Matthew 5:38,39 Jesus teaches "Do not resist the one who is evil". Now in the context of this verse Jesus is addressing an Old Testament (OT) law about retaliation, which basically was anything someone does to you, you can do to them (Exodus 21:22-25). I personally believe that Jesus is teaching us not to seek retaliation or to seek vengeance, but to forgive the other person when they insult you or harm you. Now the law that Jesus is addressing is referring to acts like a single punch in anger or something similar, not full blow fights or a person breaking into your home to murder you. In fact, when people were seeking to murder Jesus, He fled by disappearing into the crowd (because it wasn't his time to die yet), Paul, when he discovered that people were after his life, fled from the city that he preaching at in Acts 9:23-25. Also Paul harshly rebuked the Jews when they unjustly struck him in Acts 23 and sought to defend himself legally against injustice when he appealed to Cesar in Acts 25. These are all acts of self defense or resistance, maybe not through physical means, but still. In Romans 13:1-7, Paul teaches that the government is a servant of God and an avenger to punish wrongdoers and that they do "not bear the sword in vain" in verse 4 showing that the government is meant to protect people. While we are not under the OT law anymore because of Christ, Exodus 22:2-3 is an example of God showing us that self defense is acceptable, and concerning the example of the nation of Israel in the OT, the nation held a standing army and it was acceptable to defend themselves from invaders. Now concerning the swords that Jesus mentions in Luke 22:38,39, I do believe that Jesus needed the swords to be present so that the prophecy about him being "numbered with the transgressors." would be fulfilled and isn't addressing the topic of self defense. But as the video above mentions, the fact that the apostles already owned the swords maybe something to take note of. The Bible speaks in large amounts that we are never to take it upon ourselves to seek out personal vengeance, but rather wait for God to avenge us, but never speaks directly against protecting yourself. The closest verse that I know of that can be viewed as such is Matthew 5:38,39, and its concerning an OT law about personal vengeance, which leads me to believe that self defense is acceptable. These are just my thoughts on the matter though, and verses that I know that deal with this subject. Personally I would encourage to simply read your Bible and pray to God about this subject . Fast and seek Him in prayer and I'm sure God will help you in the matter, and whatever conclusion you make, be sure to that it is Biblical accurate.

In his teachings, the Lord is emphasizing how it is for believers to live in humbleness and meekness. That is another case for being attacked, and defend one’s self against an attacker. Common sense, skills and ability are the issues not forgiveness.

I believe, you are misusing the text for the argument of self-defense. Luke 22:36-38 doesn’t suggest or instruct believers to kill in self-defense. The context is about the disciples’ ability to provide for their own need of the preaching materials as scripts (from the Lord’s teachings and commandments) as they go out to proclaim the gospel. They don’t have Bibles at that time yet. They only have the Lord’s words in memory. And as the word “script” suggests, if you do not have the available notes to preach then go and ask your fellow disciple to share it with you. That is the context of what buying the sword means. The Lord sternly warned his disciples, as he sent them out to preach the gospel; he told them “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves”(Matthew 10:16). And with that said, arming them with swords to defend themselves doesn’t justify the sense of his words.
Isaiah 53:12 is a prophesy about the Lord being reckoned by the authority in his time as a criminal, hence a capital punishment of death by crucifixion was ordered and given to him. It’s not a reference giving his disciples and followers the authority to bear swords.
Self-defense in the Bible is fulfilled only when one is doing and following God’s precepts and commandments. And it is more likely accomplished with common sense and wisdom. As the Lord said-“if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.” Securing the locks of your gate and doors, or closing and locking your windows, or fencing your house against intruders are some of the common ways and means of self-defense. But above all, trusting God is the most important, for as the Bible says *”When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him”* (Proverbs 26:7).

Yes, you are partly correct. But meekness doesn’t always mean submission. Even though meekness always conveys humbleness, defending one’s self only needs common sense. When you are being attacked and you feel your life is in danger, submission is no point. If you know how to defend yourself, you can as well saved others lives even more.

But only God the Father is the Judge, who, at the time only He knows, will pass His Judgment, because He and He alone has Perfect Righteousness. Therefore, we must not pass judgment on His behalf, for man is wicked, and does not know Perfect Justice. He did not use powers of war through His Son, but the Power to Heal, and to forgive and not to condemn. Therefore, we must follow His example of His Son, who was made flesh, as we are flesh, and leave the Justice of God, Who is Our Heavenly Father, to God, Who is Our Father.
