Shoot fire, Randy! Thank you, Sir, for reviewing the new Area Super Trout ES2 Esterline and those MIGHTY FINE words! . . . especially about it's manageability. We're tickled to hear that it's your new favorite.
Randy i dont know if u tried the daiwa gekkabinin polyester line in 2.5 lb but its crazy strong and doesnt jump. It does stretch a little more than the varivas though, and as result not as sensitive. Great vid as always
Do you think that the Area Super Trout INFINITY PE X8 is better than the es2 for mini jigs specifically for trout? I am debating between the ES2, the PE X8 and the AREA Super Trout Master Limited VSP Fluorocarbon .
I really love the ES 2 line. If your fishing in a lake that is what I would use...but not in a stream. If you are going to be onto really big trout...meaning over 3 pounds...then go with the Infinity PE line.
@troutmagnetman Are you using a backing on your reel with the ES2? If so, what line and which knot are you using to join the two? 80m of such small line doesn’t seem like much on a reel!
Thanks for watching. No backing.....I use shallow spool 1000 series reels. I have never even come close to being spooled by a fish. I use a 3 turn surgeon's knot.
It is rare for me to get line twist. This line will snap very easily and a loose drag is required. Keep in mind I am using this line to catch far bigger fish than the line is designed for. This line is designed to catch horse mackerel that average 7 inches long.
Thanks....the line is definitely different. While the line is a smaller diameter than the Neo Orange, and I’m sure that helps somewhat with management...but I’ve tried some 1.5# ester years back and it behaved like all ester I have tried until now. Hopefully Varivas gets back with me about the break strength. I have it on 2 reels now and have used it a lot more since this video. It is going to get a huge workout the next 3 days.
Thanks for watching. Varivas America is out of the hi-vis...they do have it in clear. I just got 2 new spools in from Digitaka. They have it in stock. www.digitaka.com/list.php?maker=42&category=10&series=29&item=SUPER+TROUT+AREA+ES2+LEMONI
Thanks for the heads up on the line.

@@troutmagnetman Thank You 👍🏼👍🏼
I notice that you keep reeling when a fish is pulling drag. Does this add extra twist in your line?

Did they fix this line yet I am thinking about buying some what do you think about it the lemon color
Where are you getting the green Limiting line?
Nevermind, you're saying Lemoni not Limiting, my bad!
@Timothly Hopkins - It's the VARIVAS Area Super Trout ES2 Esterline Lemoni yellow (also avail in Natural Clear)
How long of a shock leader do you use?
Thanks for watching….about 4-5 feet when using the Ester lines.
@@troutmagnetmanwhat connection knot do you use ? Thanks
@mitchgarcia4591 I use a 3 turn surgeons knot. Easy for me to tie and I have not had any issues at all with it in over 20 years of using it.
@@troutmagnetman thanks ! So you use Varivas ester lemoni 2.3 mainline to a 3lb varivas master limited vsp fl leader correct?
@@mitchgarcia4591 yes.
Any chance it's more manageable simply because its lower test and diameter in reality? Nice catch too!
