    if you are interested in any VARIVAS lines, check my community page tomorrow. Varivas will have a Father's Day sale and i have a coupon. No, i don't get money from the coupon, or from any other sales. Varivas just gave me a coupon, and i am passing it to you.

    Varivas Infinity X8 PE is by far the best braid i have used . Not only is it excellent for SUL/XUL/UL fishing , its great for BFS too . I use the PE 0.2 on my spinning set ups and PE 0.3 on my BFS reels . For me , i get more distance with with the Infinity X8 than i do with the Varivas Ester line . The colour of the Infinity X8 is a brilliant colour . I like the markers on the line too . For me , it gives me an idea of the speed my lures moving at on a straight retrieve when im far out and cant see my lure in the water . I think Infinity X8 might be my favourite line to use right now . Ive not had the issue of losing fish . I do use a fluorocarbon leader though and the fluorocarbon (Frog Hair ) I use does have some stretch to it . The PE 0.3 on my BFS reels hardly digs in at all compared to a lot of other braids ive used . Only con for me is the price and having to buy it from Japan . Shipping , UK Import Tax and customs duty makes this braid even more expensive for me than it already is .

    I use the 5.6 lb version with my abu eradicator real finesse slow taper special the 7’ 3” model and a 6 foot length of 3lb test fluorocarbon with an FG knot and have no issues landing fish, walleye, smallmouth, pike, perch, crappie, bluegill etc it does it all:) i think the slow taper special is so soft that they take the bait well and I use tiny jdm jigheads and it all works well together! Thanks for the video! I think maybe some of those fish were just getting skin hooked and pulling off

    2 felt washers? I've replaced the Soare, Complex and spare spools with single felt washer, SH-011. The original carbon washer is SH-007. The SH-011 is the same diameter (inner and outer) and thickness. Maybe you have some old felt washers?
    Should have tried the Avani PE X8 in white, its quite visible. I have the infinity in 0.2 but it's still on the spool so can't compare. But the Avani is amazing. With the Avani I've been using soft and stretchy fluorocarbon, about 3' of it and no issues with lost fish.

    • @ifishcatfish

    At some point I want to try this line but for the price I’m going to stick to my 10lb diamond braid gen 3 it’s about half the price. Thought I do recommend varivas light game floro 4-6 shock leader or a good copoly line in the same 4-6lb range I don’t run braid without a leader

      this one doesn't even come in 10 lb. I have 6 lb powerpro but it looks twice the diameter of this 7 lb. It's amazing how well u can see it on camera, when i can't even find it on the boat to tie a hook

  • @davidrauschenbach6871
    @davidrauschenbach6871 2 года назад

    Thanks for the insight on the line and reel. If you decide to go with a leader what knot would you try as your connection knot ? I find most work well as long as you can tie it properly in different conditions. Hope you had fun at the next spot you moved too.

      @ifishcatfish  2 года назад +1

      i never found another school that day. A couple fish here and there. I even came back at the bridge at the end of the day and fished a little more just for fun.
      Honestly, my knots knowledge is pretty embarassing. I only know Uni knot and I only use Uni knot. I use it for everything - connecting lines, tying lure, tying everything. I don't think its a good knot for connecting leader, because the ends stick out and don't go through the guides easy. But somehow it doesn't break and I keep going : )

    Hey ifish, what do you think is still the best finesse ultralight all round combo? Do you still think the Vanquish 2000SHG is the king or maybe a new stella? How about the rod? The soare is great but doesnt match exactly.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  2 года назад

      Vanquish is still the best, even though the stella feels better. The stella is too heavy for high end rods. I can't tell is i like the Soare or the Eradicator more. For twitching a trout magnet i would probably go with Soare, for tiny swimbaits probably Eradicator. I like the blanks of the Eradicator more, but i really like holding the Soare, and looking at it. And the tip is a little sharper than the eradicator. Eradicator wobbles a little..

    It's interesting you mention how line specified as leader is a very different line from what you find on the bigger spools, I was just recently made aware of it by a video from the hook up tackle where @tackleotaku stated that generally speaking leader line pound for pound will be more durable compared to regular line that is further refined to have a larger amount of it able to be spooled into a reel and behave as it should. That is why you never see larger spools of leader line.

    If you're missing fish- it's because of your rod. I have used this line for about 8 months now on trout and I ended up using it on my extra UL rods that has a very parabolic action. They claim that it's so thin, you don't have to use a fluorocarbon leader line to attach it to. I would never use it on my Shimano Soare rod. I have the Xtune series and it is too stiff to also use this kind of braid line on it.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  2 года назад

      hmm.. this is a solid tip rod - extremely soft tip. Although its only the tip that works due to stupid fast action. But i fished a sunken boat on the next day, full of crappie, and i kept losing 1 fish out of 3. If someone else told me, i wouldn't believe him

    • @watchman316ly
      @watchman316ly 2 года назад +1

      @@ifishcatfish The cast ablility on this line is sick and crazy smooth. Don''t let the stiffness of the line fool you- it peels off the reel and rod so nicely. On small worms (free lining set ups) and 1/64-1/24 oz. jig jeads- it does wonders. But again- you need a very parabalic action rod. It is a very strong line so it helps!

      well i submit that i have never once said that in any of my videos. You don't even need braid. 2 lb mono will do just fine. These fancy lines are just for fun.
