I had one of the big lots pocket hose. It lasted me 2 years, we moved it stayed. I left it out year round. I did drain it after each use though. I was actually impressed with it. I live in the east cost. We can get temperatures in the 100s during summer to as low as single digits during winter with wind chills.
I'd say be careful with wish products, because even if they look and work the same you never know what chemicals can pass onto your food from the cheap materials they might use! Love the videos so much man!
Who cares what their neighbors think? I know I don't and never will. That's the problem with certain people they don't know how to mind their own business.
Big lots. I bought a small greenhouse, it lasted 1 year and disintigrated. I bought a cooking pot with 2 steamer inserts in it to cook more than 1 item. I still use that, 15 yrs later. I bought a kitchen island on wheels, still using that 7 yrs later but the butcher block top not holding up well. I bought a cheap butcher block with cheap knives in it for the block, not the knives. Much to my surprise I continued to use the serrated steak knives that came with the block and they hv held up just as well as my $20 each steak knives...over 15 yrs now. I bought a large floor rug 6 yrs ago. Still looks great.
I end up wearing sunglasses at night, while I'm driving. My eyes are sensitive to the light, and the bright ass headlights make it difficult for me to see the road and where I'm going. Glasses with yellow lenses tone down the glare.
Ur childlike enthusiasm on the products u review is extremely entertaining. For example, when u found out there were 2 carrying cases for the glasses. I love it and I hope u never quit!!
I thought kink free just meant it won't kink during use the way rubber hoses do. I'd call the big lots one kink proof in terms of practical use. Great vid, as always the honest reviews are appreciated
theodore j agree, kinking doesn’t mean pinching the hose in half to reduce or stop the flow of water through the hose but rather having the hose twist over itself while in use and thus cutting off the water supply.
If Bailey approves of the hose then it's good enough for me 🐶 the glasses are a NO the eaglets a Nope and the lights I agree go with the ones from Biglots. Awesome review as always! Thanks James for all you do and for saving us literally tons of money! Your the best! ❤👏🤗
No the orange sticker just means that's what they had in their pricing gun at the time if it's on clearance it would have a red & white sticker placed over the white Big Lots or the orange one.
Great review James! As a part-time Big Lots employee I can honestly say I thought these were all ASOTV items. I never realized they didn't have the TV logo on them, lol. If you need any Big Lots help let me know. Keep up the awesome reviews!
I *LOVE* my Egglettes! I've been using them for years. It's A LOT EASIER to pop an egg out of an Egglette compared to trying to remove many many pieces of shell of off a hard-boiled egg in a shell. THANKS FREAKIN' REVIEWS!
Yes, the egg gadgets are likely made at same place. When companies say counterfeit or knockoff sometimes they are just saying they branded the item first, not lesser quality if manufactured at same place. It's the generic vs namebrand game.
Only issue I had with mine was the nozzle end it came with did not last long and if left the nozzle end on when you turn the water on the hose would take off and shot around.
I find it kinda funny that from a recommended video, this turned to be one of those channels I watch immediately as soon as the videos show up on my feed.
Entertaining comparison review. Happy to see the appearance of Bailey. Love the Corey Hart reference. Hope you do a follow up on the Big Lots lights to see if they continue to out perform.
I purchased a 25' Pocket hose in the Spring of 2018 and it still looks brand new. We do drain most of the water after each use, but it does hang on the side of the house where it gets sun for about 10-12 hours/day. We do completely drain it and bring it into the house for the winter. We have used it quite a bit with our power washer for several hours/day with no ill effects or blow-outs. All-in-all I'm very happy with it, I like that it's lightweight and easy to store and that it takes a real effort to kink it. Well worth the $20 I paid for it. Edited to add: We live in NE Ohio.
I'm too frugal to buy a hose that will only last a summer. I use hoses from Rural King (farm store). I currently have 3. There's always one left out through winter, but they're all out spring through fall. Oldest one I had was 20 years, I replaced it last year. It had a small hole. I coulda fixed it, but the hose served it's purpose. I love these reviews you do. I've even commented more than once to someone in a store contemplating purchasing something you reviewed and they always appreciate me showing them the review. Thanks!
Mr. James Freakin White! Yet another upload that I couldn't click on fast enough! Thanks for putting in that work to make these reviews interesting. Rock on bro 💪🏽
I have the Wish version of the Egglettes, they work fine. I do a quick spray of Olive Oil spray, the wipe around the inside of the bowl. The eggs come out fine!
I've used the Big Lots hose here in NJ for a couple of years without incident. I leave it out all summer, drain it after each use, store it in an unheated shed in winter. I think it's worth the price. Bailey is great.
I can see it for someone that doesn't have the ability to peel a hard boiled egg. I follow a guy on TikTok that lost his arm in an auto accident, so there is a small market for them.
Wouldn't a white hose be better because of heat? I have NEVER had a flex hose survive for morr than a few uses. They are great in theory , but reality says otherwise.....should make the outer part Kevlar.
That California cancer thing is one of those funny things. I visited a couple of times and Disneyland had that warning about their park. Starbucks also had a warning in their store. I think businesses do that to protect themselves in response to a state law rather than actually having any significant risk of cancer in their products or locations.
I’ve had this same issue with the pocket hose. It’s a massive flaw with it. In fact, I’ve already returned two and will no longer unscrew the top end anymore as it’s about to crap out. Why they thought putting plastic for a thread was a good idea...is beyond me.
At the biglots I work at the clearance are orange but they would say clearance on the top of the price ticket. The price ticket he was looking at is a regular ticket that we print out if the white tickets were not on the product box. I think it also depends on what colored tickets they send us for our tickets we have to manually make.
The fact that the old Bell and Howell light is all yellowed in the transparent portion suggests that they cheaped out on the plastic, it's not Sunlight/UV resistant.
We use a retractable hose and we drain after every use and have a bucket with a lid and they seem to last for about a summer sometimes longer doubt it would last even if brought in. These hoses are just not made to last. They are handy and don't take up much space which is why we continue to use them. I just wish they found a way to make them last longer.
Those multi colored "polarized" glasses that aren't polarized just look tinted to look that way, as the inside looks the same. Also, usually polarized sunglasses shift colors depending on which angle you look at them from, which didn't seem like the case here for the big lots.
5:30 polarized sunglasses not always good become you cant see cellphone display when turned or car dashboard when turning head. There are other occupations that require a worker to be able to read certain digital numbers on a liquid crystal display. Polarized lens sometimes can interfere with the visibility of the numbers and should be avoided.
11:35, that reflection you see in the middle of the screen is likely caused by a UV filter on the end of you camera if you are using one. If so I recommend taking it off while filming or taking pics in low light to prevent that from happening. Lesson I've learned.
What a world we live in where a hose that can withstand household water pressure for 15 minutes is considered a net positive and you're expected to toss the hose after one season. I've been using the same Neverkink hose for over 10 years and it works as well as the day I bought it. It takes me a whole 15 to 30 seconds to roll it up in the hose reel when I'm done with it.
In Florida with sunglasses the important thing is the UV rating. If they do not block UV but your eyes dilate due to the tint, well now you are really harming your eyes because you are letting in more UV than if you wore no glasses at all.
There's an easier way to check for polarization, just hold them in front of any display, tv or phone screen and rotate them. In polarized glasses the screen will turn really black when you're at about 90°. Also when you're pumping gas the numbers look all weird through polarized glasses.
One hose I'd like to see a test comparison of is Lowes Zero-G hose to the retractable hoses. It's not a retractable hose but it is a fabric type hose that has a lot of claims of what it can/will not do.
Hey James, I'm not sure if you understand how polarization works, but depending on the angle the manufacturer chooses this might be why the "tester" may work for some and not for others
Interesting, the clear vision glasses at Menards I looked at did have polarization when I tested using my phone screen. It would be good to test also rotating the glasses 90° as polarization can be at different angles and only work in specific orientations.
Besides providing valuable product reviews, you are a consistently funny guy. You're my go to guy for accurate info and an endorphin high. You're the man ;)
Lots of things produced in China are sold by lots of different brands in the west, sometimes just with some branding stuck on it. Like Beats headphones were at least originally (don't know if this is still the case) just rebadged $6 headphones you could order with any branding you wanted stuck on the side. It can often pay to investigate a little. Quality differences can be a crapshoot, though. Some companies send people to their Chinese production facilities to directly oversee QA, some don't so there can be significant variations from day to day, based on the age of the molds being used and things like that, etc.
It's a damn shame that James isn't even at half a million viewers yet Russkie guy has 11 million and that guy doesn't even follow the directions half the time. Come on people, put James reviews in your Social media, get the word out there he deserves it.
You should best as seen on tv sunglass organizers and holders. Btw: Polarized isn't always the best option, sometimes like driving or cycling it might be even bad option. Polarizing might make seeing puddles etc. harder.
a little secret for old solar lights New rechargeable batteries Polish the solar panel to continue using it, add a clear coat as cleaning off the panel removes the UV protectant (The yellow film) If they still work after a year or so and the internals aren't corroded that's all you need to keep using them.
One of my best purchases EVER was a $60, indestructible, premium, rubber garden hose. Expensive? Maybe. It will be the last hose you ever buy, so in the long run, it costs less.
I bought the exact same as the Big Lots glasses at a home improvement store. After rebate, $2 for two pairs. The first one broke after a couple months. They are cheaply made. Dollar store quality.
I think Aldi's (U.S.) also has some of those things too, but they do them on rotating inventory. (Big Lots isn't in my city anymore, even though I remember them being around for about 10 years.)
