The boyfriend is one of the most usefull/smart character i have seen in a modern horror movie. He could be made really dumb and unlikible, but using his cellphone, the car's keys for light and bringing cops for domestic violence (not telling them about the ghost) this is top tier horror survivor content here
No joke this is an amazing concept to me because as a kid I was terrified of the idea that whenever you turn the lights off something horrible would come out so the fact that they literally made a movie based on that concept creeped me the hell out
Exactly! We’ve all been there, staring at an specific dark corner, wondering if something’s there. This movie is creepy af. I watched it for the first time at night, by myself before going to bed and I literally had to watch Shrek afterwards to clear my head a little bit lmao
@@cameroncullen7632 i’ll make my mom get up and sit in the bathroom with me, but that’s my ex’s fault He used to sit in the bathroom with me now it’s just creepy as hell going 💩
I watched this movie through only once and will never watch it again. I was a grown adult and I slept with the lights on for like 5 days after this movie. I don’t love the effects at the end but there is something so terrifying about there actually being something in the dark when you spend your whole life telling yourself there is nothing there, that makes this terrifying!
God I love when you watch scary movies, man. Light's Out's a banger, I remember watching it in theaters and everyone was screaming the whole time. Instant classic, it's crazy how it basically just uses the same type of jump scare for the entire movie but it manages to scare the hell out of you every single time.
This movie is one of the best PG-13 Horrors I've seen, and the boyfriend is one of the best-written characters in a horror movie. The crowd in my theater literally cheered when he pulled that one stunt in the driveway! And a bit of trivia - for those that felt the ending was kind of rushed, you're right! The Original Ending Was that the mother's suicide *didn't work* and they had to figure out a different way to defeat Diana. Focus groups *hated* that ending, though, as it made the mother's sacrifice feel pointless, so it was rewritten... but since Diana was an allegory for Depression, the writer *hates* the unintended message it sends (read: if you feel suicidal, your family *will* be better off without you), and hopes to address it in a sequel.
This is why we run every time we turn off the lights. The PTSD I’m having right now watching this reaction. Lol When I saw this the first time I swear I kept every single light on in my house. I slept with my bedroom lights on for weeks. My friends and I watched this movie together for the first time and we all cheered when the boyfriend turned on the car lights. This movie hella traumatized me
I had a nightmare where she was coming after me. I woke up in the same position my nightmare started and it was terrifying because the entire room was dark
Mel reaction to this movie just fmu so bad. I love him reacting to horror movies because his screams are so funny even though he is genuinely terrified 😭
I remember watching this film in the theatre with my friends. I decided to lean on the chair, and the moment was stressful, but the chair broke with a bam, so I fell to the feet of guys, who were sitting behind us, as I was being showered by popcorn of spooked people....
I'm so ready to Watch this with mellow! My college roommates and I actually bonded over this movie we just thought it was hilarious so I gotta see how mellow feels about it 😂
So I got glasses when I was like 10 yrs old and my eyesight was really bad at night. Since that age I see shadows and at night my anxiety peaks cuz I would swear they were moving. So this movie TERRIFIED me just for the concept alone. 😂😂
When I was little, I was one messed up kid. I had at least 7 phobias, and one of them was Achluophobia: fear of the darkness. I mean, kids are afraid of the dark, my own son was for a time but he grew out of it. I finally grew out of most of mine in my mid teens except for the BIG one, the one that started all the others: Arachnophobia, the one that I still have and will never get over. excellent reaction as always, Mell!
Love this movie 😂 I remember as a kid sometimes my parents would say did you turn off the kitchen light ? Well I would go running down from the kitchen to the living room to get out of the dark so nothing would get me 🤣
This is a fucking scary ass movie and the fact that Mellow is always screaming and covering his face when scares happen makes it ten times funnier and scarier lol
I remember when Lights Out was just a concept horror short video on RUclips, it was the scariest thing I’ve watched. Just 2 scenes of that opening girl switching lights on and off at her own home, second guessing what she saw. Then taping her own house lights on and hiding in bed. So glad they got the chance to make this into a movie and it delivered so well. ❤ (Edit) RUclipsr: Ponysmasher Also often seen their works in Cory’s SSS series.
I love nights and sitting in dark room, it calms me down, but since this movie I can’t relax until I won’t be sure I have locked door and at least one candle is lightened up. And when I sleep I HAVE TO shut my door. That darkness in corridor is just…no.
😂😂😂 mello are you ok doing a lot screaming bud . I didn't think this was that scary just errie n you said giving you the bubble guts lol but glad you enjoyed n hated this at same time, your awesome man keep it going 👏👏
Funny story… when our son joined the Navy (my husband is retired Army), we all went to visit him. We arrived before he was gonna be dismissed for the weekend so we killed time by going to the movies. It was his older brother, younger sister (a senior in high school at the time) and us the parents. Anyway, Lights Out had just come out so we decided to see it. It was storming. When the hallway scene was happening where no one was there with the light on then someone there when it was off but closer each time? Well suddenly the movie went to black screen and it was pitch black inside. Everyone was silent and waiting for a jump scare or what was going on when someone suddenly yelled “ATTENTION…” and everyone screamed lmao The power went out and we were all sitting there covering our eyes preparing for the jump scare 😂😂 The worker scared the crap out of all of us and we scared the crap out of him because he didn’t know where it left off and probably wasn’t even thinking about what movie it was. Heck, any other scene and we may have figured out the power went out instead of just sitting there. Great memories lmao
This is crazy to me seeing Mello being scared and seeing how so many people in the comments are also saying this movie was scary, I personally found this movie to be boring and not scary at all the plot was so obvious I almost walked out of the theater during this movie. Either way great reaction can't wait for season 2 of ATLA
Thank you now i can go watch it I remember seeing this trailer and wanting to see it but never got the chance and forgot the name. When I asked ppl they didn't know it either so i thought i imagined it at one point. 😂
I saw this movie with my cousin in theater’s , at night of course and when we went back to her place , I kid you not we both didn’t want to go to her room because the lights were off. We kept trying to push one another into the room, until the we finally got the light on , we slept with it in 😂😂😂 this a good movie
Checked and confirmed the actress Lotta Losten is indeed the same actress from the short with the same name (Lights Out) you can find it here on youtube
I watched a movie that I watched just like this back in the day where the kid grew up not wanting to be in the dark. A scary tooth fairy would come out ..one scene where a kid was in the MRI traumatizes me ..hate MRI because of it ..
“Daaaaaam he’s black..he’s gonna die” 😂😂😂
TRAPSON?! What's Goood!!!

I still cant go to the bathroom at night comfortably and im 34
Haha I still run up the stairs at night 🤣
@@cameroncullen7632 i’ll make my mom get up and sit in the bathroom with me, but that’s my ex’s fault He used to sit in the bathroom with me now it’s just creepy as hell going 💩
I'm STILL terrified. The concept of a Shadow Person scared the crap out of me. Something DARKER than dark is terrifying
You were spot on about Diana being an allegory for depression, I believe the director confirmed it. It makes the whole thing more tragic
You’re braver than I was. I slept with the lights on for MONTHS after watching this 😂
SAMEE!! I literally had to open the lights and sleep with a pillow covering my face because I'm scared that I will see scary things😭
God I love when you watch scary movies, man. Light's Out's a banger, I remember watching it in theaters and everyone was screaming the whole time. Love Mellow’s reactions ,Talks all that shit ..Then screams like a little girl 😅😂Loving the Horror reactions man ,Keep it up .
The noise I made when he said "DAMN he's black! He's gonna die..." was unholy
I’m absolutely dying😂😂😂 his screams and facial expressions when gets scared 😂
“This b***h f**king with my light bill.” 😂😂😂😂😂much love ❤️

I totally agreed, just the fact the boyfriend saw everything, survive, left and come back with cops and they called for backup! Survivor instinct here
Theater applauded then hollered when boyfriend did the alarm for the car! It was a great experience lol
This is why we run every time we turn off the lights. The PTSD I’m having right now watching this reaction. Lol When I saw this the first time I swear I kept every single light on in my house. I had a nightmare where she was coming after me. I woke up in the same position my nightmare started and it was terrifying because the entire room was dark
17:40 That first scream tho 😂
I remember watching this movie alongside "The Darkness"(2002) because apparently I decided I never wanted to sleep again at that time
Sinister made you hella scared but lights out had you terrified 😅.
I swear there's few things funnier than watching Mello scream looking at a scary movie. that shit is depression curing, I promise you.
This movie is so symbolic. Depression is really a scary monster hiding in the dark hurting those closes to you and get you alone 😢
18:43 this part 😂☠️
his screaaam 😂
God I love this movie so much, due to how dark it is and creepy. I’m also happy that they got the woman from the short horror film for this movie.
Mel reaction to this movie just fmu so bad. I love him reacting to horror movies because his screams are so funny even though he is genuinely terrified 😭
I was going to show this movie to my kids this weekend but Mellow makes it seem Tooo scary 😅
Mellows jump scare screams remind me a lot of Nathan Lane's screams from The Birdcage 😂
I remember watching this film in the theatre with my friends.
I decided to lean on the chair, and the moment was stressful, but the chair broke with a bam, so I fell to the feet of guys, who were sitting behind us, as I was being showered by popcorn of spooked people....
lmao loving your reactions to these scary movies, honestly your reactions make me laugh so much it takes away from the scariness of the movie!
That bf is the real hero lmao, he a quick thinker on his feet AND loyal too, anyone else in his situation is usually one or the other, not both
The one horror movie where the rocker boyfriend isn’t a dick and actually is a win for the whole movie
I'm so ready to
Watch this with mellow! My college roommates and I actually bonded over this movie we just thought it was hilarious so I gotta see how mellow feels about it 😂
I've been watching movies with you for the past 3 days! Props on the content for Halloween
No real shit tho. You’re lucky to get even two Halloween movies from other RUclipsrs.
So I got glasses when I was like 10 yrs old and my eyesight was really bad at night. Since that age I see shadows and at night my anxiety peaks cuz I would swear they were moving. So this movie TERRIFIED me just for the concept alone. 😂😂
not piana 🤣🤣🤣 8:00

“You don’t live here” lmfaooo took me tf out 😂
Mel, when the cops showed up, I said the exact same shit. 😂🤣😂😂
HA! THE SHADE FOR THE IPHONE! I LOVE IT
0:40 seconds is funny when you get scared 😂😂
A movie so scary that even a change in camera angles can give you a mean ass jumpscare
This is a fucking scary ass movie and the fact that Mellow is always screaming and covering his face when scares happen makes it ten times funnier and scarier lol
I love yo reactions 😂
1:40 ngl thats literally me every time right before i saw scary stories to tell in the dark
Loved this reaction! ^^
0:38 i can't stop laughing😂😂

I remember the short too. I'd've taped the light switch and ran past her out the crib. Draws, barefoot, I don't care. She'd just have to catch me. 😅

😂😂😂 mello are you ok doing a lot screaming bud . I didn't think this was that scary just errie n you said giving you the bubble guts lol but glad you enjoyed n hated this at same time, your awesome man keep it going 👏👏
The fear I had after this movie that something was gonna drag me from under the bed was so real.
To this day, the scariest movie I’ve ever seen in theater 💯 Drove home with my backseat lights on so I wouldn’t spaz
Fan of the commentaries fasho! Keep pushing content
Hi Mell big fan!! Love watching your reviews 😊
Underrated movie. One of my favorites ever. Really scary and great story
I was laughing so hard on ur reaction on this one🤣 i highly recommend the movie countdown 2019, its so good too plz make a reaction video about it

You should check out darkness falls. Twisted take on the tooth fairy
tbh, that's the most level headed kid in a horror movie, ever. That isn't evil.
This is crazy to me seeing Mello being scared and seeing how so many people in the comments are also saying this movie was scary, I personally found this movie to be boring and not scary at all the plot was so obvious I almost walked out of the theater during this movie. I saw this movie with my classmates and afer seeing the short film and trailer, it gave me chills 😨😨 and reminded me of the Babadook
OMG so I was loving this, then when the cops got there and you yelled "damn he's black, he's gonna die" I lost my shit 🤣🤣 funny/not funny
underrated classic
I watched this movie with the kid law on stream I’m glad you also watched it
I remember when I watched this at my friends house we was shaking in our boots best believe we slept with all the lights on after that
Thank you now i can go watch it I remember seeing this trailer and wanting to see it but never got the chance and forgot the name. When I asked ppl they didn't know it either so i thought i imagined it at one point. 😂
Lights Out was a pleasant surprise when it first came out. Especially for a PG-13 horror movie
I saw this movie with my cousin in theater’s , at night of course and when we went back to her place , I kid you not we both didn’t want to go to her room because the lights were off. We kept trying to push one another into the room, until the we finally got the light on , we slept with it in 😂😂😂 this a good movie
You should see don’t be afraid of the dark. Good movie
Genuine reactions of being scared here.
Nah this took me out!!🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭😭
DON'T YOU DISS MILK DRINKERS! 😂 love from Australia lol
This damn movie freaked me out for a min. Sometimes in the dark I do wonder😊
This movie scared so much that I started sleeping with the lights on
Mell you Are amazing 😊😊
The boyfriend was the best character and the smartest.
Brilliant idea for a horror film
You may like darkness falls. It's a very underrated film. And since you watched descent, I would highly recommend Dog Soliders.
I love that movie.
On Earth As in Hell and a heavy and agonizing horror film for those who have phobias, I really liked it and it's one of my favorites!
I'm sorry going off topic I'm loving that Cm punk T-shirt!!! 😁
Saw this in theaters a couple times. A truly unnerving and scary movie
i remember watching this in theaters
I remember seeing this in theaters with my older sister and we were cracking up half the movie. especially the boyfriend running off😭
How ironic is it that the first time I saw this movie I got induced to a psych ward the next day?!! I was terrified 😭💀
This movie had my yelling "TuRN ON THE LIGHTS!" The whole time😂😂😂
Another movie with a similar concept is Darkness Falls from early 2000s. It makes you want to leave the lights on, just in case.
that one woman is from the original short film that created this idea.
Oh, yeah you picked a good one!
This beat kinda fire
This is based on a short and I believe the actress who is flicking the lights on and off is the same actress from the short
Checked and confirmed the actress Lotta Losten is indeed the same actress from the short with the same name (Lights Out) you can find it here on youtube
How dare they kill Bella's dad like that!! Where is Edward and Jacob to help out!?!? lol
I watched a movie that I watched just like this back in the day where the kid grew up not wanting to be in the dark. A scary tooth fairy would come out ..one scene where a kid was in the MRI traumatizes me ..hate MRI because of it ..
I love the horror short "Lights Out"that this film is based on. Check it out sometime.
Piana 😂😂
Yay
Cm punk shirt brought back some memories 😂😂
Mel I can't with you. You need to be a G when watching movies with me, smh. Horror is my favorite genre.
You should react to the original short horror film that this is based off of. That one still freaks me out and made this movie less scary to me.
Scary movie ever so far as well I know dude.😂😱❤💡
I love this movie 🎥 🍿😎
You should watch Brightburn
you should do Malignant its dope
