X Movie Description:
A group of actors sets out to make an adult film in rural Texas under the noses of their reclusive hosts, but when the elderly couple catches their young guests in the act, the cast finds themselves in a desperate fight for their lives.
X is a 2022 slasher film written, directed, produced and edited by Ti West. It stars Mia Goth, Jenna Ortega, Martin Henderson, Brittany Snow, Owen Campbell, Stephen Ure, and Scott Mescudi. The film's plot follows a cast and crew who gather to make a pornographic film on an elderly couple's rural Texas property, but find themselves threatened by an unlikely killer.
X was filmed in New Zealand, with production primarily in Fordell. Its score was composed by Tyler Bates and Chelsea Wolfe. The film had its world premiere at South by Southwest (SXSW) on March 13, 2022, and was theatrically released in the United States on March 18, 2022, by A24. It received generally positive reviews, with critics praising its homages to 20th-century slasher films-particularly 1974's The Texas Chain Saw Massacre-and the performances of Goth, Snow and Ortega.
A prequel film, Pearl, secretly shot back-to-back with X, was released on September 16, 2022. A sequel, MaXXXine, is in development.

This movie was directed by Ti West. As previously mentioned Mia Goth plays both Pearl and Maxine. Ti West had already planned a trilogy around Mia Goths characters and had already secretly filmed Pearl when this film dropped which is the old lady’s back story. They are working on the 3rd movie called Maxxxine. I plan on getting the box set once all 3 are out!

@@The_Keh27 I think he wanted to but there were issues with hours worked with the various guilds and the need to use a different location than the other two. Pearl had me screaming not because of the scares but Mia Goth kills it and that end scene. No spoilers… but Mel had to react to the film just for the end scene….

I was born in 1970, I only officially got to watch Disney movies, but when we went to the drive-in and we were supposed to be asleep when the R rated horror movie came on, I would sneak a peek. X really has the same feel of a 70's horror movie, but is actually better because the effects and acting are better.

I disagree. Although the older grindhouse horror films are lower budget, I feel like movies like Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Eaten Alive, Fulci’s Zombie, and Suspiria among others do a better job at gore and atmosphere. Watching partly cgi gore on digital is nice, but there’s just a certain charm about watching cheap, practical gore on grainy film (the eye stabbing kill in Fulci’s Zombie for example). I don’t know. That might just be me lol

I was born in 1979.
Personally speaking, I grew up in some of the best music times outside of the 60s and 70s. The 80s and early 90s were just amazing. Everything from pop to rock to hip hop went beyond being just simple music, as the bands and songs back then were straight-up life-changing experiences!
Also some of the best years for comedy and horror movies. And the stand-up scene was insane!
I know every generation considers their time to be the best, especially as they get older and nostalgia starts to kick in hard-core, but there was just something about that time period that just seems to stand out from most of the rest.

@@ceedodaI don't think she treats him horribly, I believe she threw his actions from earlier in the movie back on him. He didn't tell her about the contents of the movie knowing it would make her uncomfortable and then when confronted asked if she was a prude(which she quotes). If anything their characters are one in the same.

Something I haven't seen said about this movie, but porn was basically made legal in the early 70s. So we're living right now seeing the first ever generation of 'porn stars' get old and die of old people reasons. So it's almost a weirdly meta movie if you are of that generation, watching these young, slick 70s youths be destroyed by the generation of people that they literally are now.

It’s wasn’t cheating based on what she had been learning. Her point in bringing up the love convo - she was curious how love and sex are so easily separated by all of them. Most women aren’t allowed to make that distinction without certain connotations. As long as you’d have the same energy if the genders were swapped, I think it’s a reasonable moral stance.
Boyfriend was cool with her being involved until she really wanted to be involved. Girlfriend should have talked to him prior. They didn’t need to be together, their communication at all points was trash.
It’s the reaction I pretty much expected so it didn’t bother me (or at least it was unsurprising). You missed what some other commenters we’re trying to convey, probably due to tone or name calling so I decided to reiterate.

I'd definitely keep the same energy if the roles were reversed. Cheaters are POS.
It was cheating, they were in a non open relationship. You can even see the guilt/hesitation before she shot the scene and afterwards, asking if he left her and calling out for him during the movie. She did it to prove a point that she's not a prude. Her being involved behind the camera is way different than her being involved in the scene. Dude wasn't in the right for not saying outright what they were doing but she deliberately slept with someone to spite him. The evidence is in the line when she asked "when did you become such a prude?" Both were trash, but she's definitely the worst of the two.
Yeah rj was totally cool with everyone having sex until his girlfriend wanted to get involved. Dude had double standards.
