The Conjuring Movie Description:
In 1970, paranormal investigators and demonologists Lorraine (Vera Farmiga) and Ed (Patrick Wilson) Warren are summoned to the home of Carolyn (Lili Taylor) and Roger (Ron Livingston) Perron. The Perrons and their five daughters have recently moved into a secluded farmhouse, where a supernatural presence has made itself known. Though the manifestations are relatively benign at first, events soon escalate in horrifying fashion, especially after the Warrens discover the house's macabre history.
The Conjuring is a 2013 American supernatural horror film directed by James Wan and written by Chad Hayes and Carey W. Hayes. It is the inaugural film in The Conjuring Universe franchise. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga star as Ed and Lorraine Warren, paranormal investigators and authors associated with prominent cases of haunting. Their purportedly real-life reports inspired The Amityville Horror story and film franchise. The Warrens come to the assistance of the Perron family, who experienced increasingly disturbing events in their newly occupied farmhouse in Rhode Island in 1971. With Ed and Lorraine Warren's investigation, the Perron case became the first witch curse that is placed across the land.
Development of the film began in January 2012, and reports confirmed Wan as the director of a film entitled The Warren Files, later retitled The Conjuring, centering on the alleged real-life exploits of Ed and Lorraine Warren, a married couple who investigated paranormal events. In his second collaboration with Wan, Patrick Wilson starred alongside Vera Farmiga in the main roles of Ed and Lorraine. Production commenced in Wilmington, North Carolina, in February 2012, and scenes were shot in chronological order.
The Conjuring was released in the United States and Canada on July 19, 2013, by Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema. It received positive reviews from critics, who praised the performances, direction, screenplay, atmosphere, and musical score. It grossed over $319 million worldwide against its $20 million budget. A sequel, The Conjuring 2, was released on June 10, 2016.

Absolutely.
I've met the Warrens in the late 80s. Been in their house. Been in the Relic Room. Seen Annabelle face to face. Was a highly weird experience, but the movie actually recreated the room quite accurately.

@@vitamins00 I was in high school and lived in rural CT. At the time - exactly like they portray at the beginning of The Conjuring - the Warrens used to travel around local high schools and give evening talks on the supernatural. They didn't come to our school, but there WAS a local article about them, since it was the fall and I guess the local paper thought it was a good spooky story.
So, at about the same time, I chose to do a school report on the supernatural, and so I called the number they gave for them in the article to get in touch with them. (Times were so simple back then.)
I remember I was sitting at dinner one night, and the phone (attached to the wall) rang. My mom answered, looked at me, and said, "It's for you. It's Lorraine Warren." Haha, at the time they really were just local ghost hunters.
So we booked a date to go see their at-home museum.
And then me, my mom, and a friend went.
It was a very cool but odd visit.

The actress playing Lorraine Warren isn't Maggie Gyllenhaal, her name is Vera Farmiga. She's been in a ton of movies and also played Norma Bates in the show Bates Motel which is sort of a prequel to the movie Psycho.

Saw this in theaters. My cousin had to go to the bathroom. Watched him come out right as the jump scare with the woman on top of the dresser, then watched my cousin walk right back out 😂😂😂

Lmaoooooo. This movie never scared me, the jump scares were good but it was more interesting than scary to me.
Yup, Ed and Lorraine Warren were real people, as were the cases they investigated. They investigated dozens, if not hundreds, of cases linked to the supernatural; the Enfield Poltergeist, the Amityville Horror, even the Arne Johnson "Devil Made Me Do It" trial were some of their most famous cases.
I loved the “Devil made me do it” movie a lot of people hated on it but I liked it definitely different from the other movies
They were also pedophiles and groomed there adoptive daughter

Your fear is warranted, no shame. 😂 This is a truly good horror film, one of the best of the last decade. A Well crafted story, it’s shot brilliantly, the acting is superb, the scares are legit and earned, and the score is fantastic; the atmospheric terror is palpable, and it accomplishes what seems to be that rare thing in horror these days: IT IS SCARY AS F. The added “based on a true story” only heightens the tension. Happy Halloween! 🎃

My good friend actually meet The Warrens. The Annabelle doll is a Raggedy Ann. The music sells it even more with everything. This movie gives me chills.
You gotta watch The Conjuring 2, and definitely watch Insidious 2 - it picks up where the first one left off, literally, and is one of the best sequels I've ever seen!

The first time I saw this movie, I was on an overnight flight to Asia with a group of fellow students. The lights on the plane were all turned off and everyone was asleep. I legit had to hold my mouth to keep from gasping or screaming. I was scared to death and couldn't even make a noise! Was a great experience
James Wan really brought his A game to this! One of the best modern horror movies out there!
Honestly this feels like a paranormal horror masterpiece. Maybe I'm biased.

Fun fact the people that lived in the conjuring house actually felt that Ed and Lorraine made the haunting worse and actually punched Ed in the face before kicking them out.
Or they saw they were frauds, maybe there was mold in the home making them hallucinated? Hear mold is not uncommon in old buildings.

Fun fact Ed and Laraine wanted this movie to be as close to the actual case as possible, what some people don't know is the exorcism was unsuccessful and the husband ended up striking Ed and kicking him and Laraine out leaving the family basically screwed. There was no happy ending to this story and the people who own the conjuring house now say and have proved it's still very much haunted

Saw this in a theater with my brother when it came out. My brother, muscled up, 6’2 jumped up out of his skin at one of the hand clap jump scares and I died laughing. I love this movie for that memory alone lol

In high school I watched this movie with a group of 8 friends on a laptop on the floor and I still watched through the gaps in my fingers. I'm a guy too lol. This movie scared the ever loving shit out of me.

@@nathanlindahl8336 Lol who cares? Maybe I'm the type of person who can't handle jump scares. I on the other hand thought Hereditary was not scary at all, just creepy. People have different definitions of scary, its not objective. Try thinking a little bit.
The first Conjuring is one of my favorite horror movies of all time. Because of it being "based on a true story" it doesn't have a huge body count (only the previous victims) as the real-life police would have had some questions about people dying around the Warrens while they are on a case, but still managed to keep the audience on the edge of their seats. And that's something that was kinda lost with the sequels.
I know Halloween is about over but you’ve got to do a reaction to the horror film “Mama”. It’s so good. I haven’t seen anyone else react to it and I don’t understand why lol. You will not be disappointed.
Man, I had no idea this movie had such good horror build-up, definitely scarier than just jumpscares all the time.

The intro scene with Annabelle was filmed a couple hours from my house in Downtown Wilmington NC I’m there all the time during the summer they shot it in a tallish older looking brick building that serves as apartments the building itself specifically the 3rd or 5th floor Is extremely haunted I’ve gone on the ghost tour several times and my tour guide used to live in that specific building during the time this movie was filmed and he actually met the director of this movie and the director would play with his dog! If you or anyone else visits Wilmington I highly recommend taking the ghost tour downtown! Or if you just want to ghost hunt it’s a perfect place to do so!

The museum still exists. Two weeks ago a yt channel called ‘Overnight’ posted a 4 hour documentary type film of them investigating inside the museum with the real Annabelle doll. Apparently the owners said it’s the first and last time they will allow anybody to film inside the museum which is pretty cool.
Kay that trumpit at the beginning was legit unsettling, the soundtrack is Oscar worthy.

I remember seeing an interview with the actual eldest daughter of the Perron family. She said her mother was slowly being influenced by the house the moment they moved in. She started to wear the old fashioned clothing from that period of history.

Its quite funny actually every single time I go down south or too up north, everyone will be like "Oh you got an accent, where are you from," I'll say Connecticut, they don't know where that's at, and the minute they google it, the very first thing they see is the museum that Annabelle is, in Monroe, they scream at the top of their lungs and run for the hills, clutching their crosses.

Yes their museum still exist. You can go to the channel OVERNIGHT where they did an investigation at the museum. Or you can watch part one where they talk about the museum and some of the objects in it.
The first half hour or so of this film I wasn't sure if I could continue, the tension was too much! It was such a relief to get the exposition of "oh this is just some stupid religious thing" so I could relax a bit and enjoy the rest 😅

Though it was based on a true story many things couldn’t be added or had to be dialed back a notch. The husband from the actual event gave the producers a journal of the experiences the family went through and they couldn’t add most because of how graphic the true story of the Perron family was. During the exorcism Ed and loraine warren were going through it and the wife ended up levitating and she was flown across the room with such force they couldn’t tell wether she was alive or dead eventually it got to the point where the exorcism wasn’t working and the husband forced both warrens out and punched Ed in the face because they wouldn’t leave. I’m not sure how true this is but I remember hearing it in a Sam and Colby video the tour guide told them the story.
There’s so much more to the story but this was the main one I wanted to tell.
