There are so many issues and story lines here it is hard to find a place to start. The owner has a general manager that is not managing .Her job is to solve issues . If the biggest issue appears to be Sides not ready to take on head coach job you either remove her like a cancer or you take the time to teach her the art of coaching. Which is not micromanaging . That not going to happen. So the Gm is the first to go then Sides, then as many of the older players on the bench .Building around a young team led by Clark which Taylor should have been a part of.

Couldn’t ask for a better first half, the fourth quarter collapse against a team with 3 starters on the bench was embarrassing. The Fever recovered enough to win but it’s not the kind of game you celebrate. Wheeler running the offense in the 4th qtr was a huge mistake. When will the Fever start realizing this?
If you check the stats of not only the wnba but also the nba, you will find the odds of a comeback was a 1000/1.
The players never mention Sides in an interview. Sides provided no reason for what went wrong in the fourth quarter just platitudes. She did warn them though that Phoenix could come back in the 4th quarter. What a joke!
She said that bad defense was the reason for 4th quarter slippage. 🤦

Mitchell was as you describe, the 1v5 black hole, until about 5 or 6 games ago. Then Sides, in one of her few inspired coaching acts, benched Mitchell for the rest of a first half for not playing team ball. In 2nd half, Mitchell came and played team ball looking to get her points within the CC22-led transitions and halfcourt offense. Mitchell still has mental lapses of 1v5 out of habit. She will be a free agent and her priority is "my stats". She's finally realized she'll get more stats with CC22 getting her the ball with open looks.
@@jdaniels1313-Yes, and the main factor in ALL of her scoring is CC is on the board with points and KM will make sure that she is always even or up a few points with her. If CC’s not scoring, she’s in no rush. She can’t catch the long pass so should stay back and REBOUND. Let Lou or Lexie run down; they can both catch and do a layup!

Yes, several of the foul calls against Lexi Hull were ridiculous. She played good D, and refs gifted Copper several non-fouls.
Can you imagine Pat Riley putting Ronnie Lester, the backup PG for the Lakers, in during crucial parts of the game and having Magic Johnson play off ball? Neither can I. Clark is a Magic Johnson magnitude player. Teammates play better off of her play not the other way around.
Does Wheeler have blackmail material on Sides? Or is it a personal relationship? Either way, get rid of both of them. And do not let Dunn have any say in who the new coach is.

When CC is on the bench, so is any momentum! Smith plays lazy when they have a lead. KM shoots too quickly when they have a lead. What the heck is Wheeler doing on the floor? Until the last minute with a 20+ lead should CC be considered to come out for her deserving ovation. CC must be coached like she was in college as far as time management goes! The Fever cannot afford to have her on the bench.
I don’t believe Smith plays lazy. I think she’s just trying to regroup for the next run. The only three whose stats showed how hard they worked were AB’s, CC’s and Smiths. Thank goodness she played and helped both offensively and defensively. What has been said about her play tonight?? Not enough that’s for sure!

There was a point in the game, I want to say late 2nd quarter, when Sides grabs CC arm as CC was trying to walk away from her. She did not have the same intensity after that point. Her first half stats vs second half stats is stark. Something weird is going on between Sides and CC.
She didn't have the same intensity because she never got the ball because Wheeler was playing point guard. Duh!

I'm glad that you mentioned Sides and Mitchell. Mitchell had a great shooting game, but she made no contribution to anyone else scoring ecept one pick. Clark got 13 assists. Mitchell = 0 assists. You are correct! A guard with 0 assists for a team that scored 95 pts. How?

I enjoy how articulate and concise you are in explaining the basketball truth about CC. Recently, I 've felt like my head was exploding because many in the sports media have disrespected her by insisting the ROTY is "neck and neck" with AR. It's patently absurd! I've no clue as to why they are putting their journalistic reputations on the line by creating and feeding this narrative which is absolutely false and totally bullshit.
After her incredible stat line from the Fever vs. Mystics, I was actually stunned when the early edition of Sportscaster that morning included the co-anchor briefly covering the game but NOT mentioning her whole stat line nor it's historical significance. I mean one would think that the audience would want to know that her performance was unequaled in WNBA history and also in NBA history going back to 1973-1974 when they apparently started keeping statistics for steals and blocks.
Then when they covered the Sky and Aces game, a graphics banner read "Historical WNBA." Of course they had to brag about AR's DD streak even though Points/Rebound DD are much easier to obtain than Points/Assists DD. The fact is AR is a terrific rebounder who possesses very little offensive skill while CC is a true, generational basketball phenom. She's already the most electric playmaker/passer in the "W" and obviously very capable of big-time scoring when her shot is falling. Let's please stop with these ridiculous comparisons.

At this point, I have to believe that “ coach” Sides is deliberately being put there to limit CC’s stats to ensure she’s not running away with the Roty award. There is no way anyone with any basketball experience not know that taking the ball out of CC’s hands and putting it in Wheeler’s is going to lead to a loss. We’ve already seen teams colluding to make Reese get her double double. We’ve seen her own coach bench the number 3 pick in order to play the number 7 pick to get her double double. We’ve seen CC’s GM trade away their best defender who was their 15th pick. We’ve seen how the league make sure they stack the schedule in such a way that’ll make CC look bad giving them no chance to get used to new teammates with no chance for coaching.
Clark should’ve had at least 25 and 15 last night IF THEY LET HER RUN THE POINT! She could’ve had 31 last game but Sides made sure there was no chance of that!

Good coaches understand the talent they have and they scheme around their strengths. I have tried to give coach Sides the benefit of the doubt. She has removed all doubt. She is a problem. Clark would have an even better year with a different coach.

I've been rooting for different teams for decades in this has to be one of the worst most disappointing and upsetting wins I've ever seen from any of the teams I'm cheering for. They should have been an epic game for Caitlin Clark like 30 points and 20 assists or at worst 25 and 15. And after 7:00 assists in the first quarter Clark ended up with only 13 tying her own rookie record she shares with someone else for the third time she couldn't get past 13. WTF.
Part of this is on Caitlin she's two passive she needs a dominant personality and she needs to take over in the 4th quarter like she did the last game against Washington. But it doesn't help Caitlin that she's handcuffed by this ridiculous Maniac coach called Christie.

As an FYI, Sue Bird (Point guard) never had three consecutive games with a double-double measured by points and assists.
Just another FYI, Clark had Three and Four consecutive double-doubles measured by points and assists. Was that not a record as a Rookie and as a Player?
In 2017, Courtney Vandersloot's (Guard) record of consecutive games with a double-double was measured by points and assists in six games.
Until 2024 that is, as Clark is now tied with Courtney Vanderslootat at # 2 with Four consecutive double-doubles measured by points and assists over a four-game stretch - ESPN somehow missed this.

Catlin's I Q out shines all of the team and especially the coaches. And the management for not changing the head coach. Why is it when something is going so good you make stupid decisions. Fast pace and good scoring are working for the team just keep the defense up, only on offense grind the time down. The coach has made so many bad calls this totally outrageous it go against the general calls.
AR got 281 pts in her last 15 games if you add her pts and give her 2pts/ast,
CC got 504 pts in the last 15 games if you add her pts and give her 2pts/ast!

I did not like the body language for the Fever at the begin of the 4th as it was much too casual. The turnover in the fourth quarter was almost like 3rd grade basketball. The best thing Sides can do is don’t even talk to CC and tell her to just do her thing. Sides has to be the worst coach in the WNBA but don’t expect any changes because this is the Fever.

This was a replay of the Chicago game. They get way ahead, then Sides puts in Wheeler, they slow down and start playing hero ball and watch the lead dwindle. Dribble dribble dribble panic, throw up a brick. By the time Clark takes over point guard again, they're all rattled and in panic mode. It's as if the coaches learned nothing from losing to the Sky.

It was great to see Copper.I felt she played from a place of clear desire and deeper frustration for her team.She went Maverick..She drove the game….I think we’ll see a lot more individuals raising their game, bubbling through and showing the flashes of brilliance and challenging their teams too focus both during the game and more importantly in conversations off court maybe.On that assumption I’d wonder if conversations will actually challenge some of the attitudes towards CC…,because the focus comes back to the game and playing well.Rather than the nonsense and gaslighting…and focus on trivial .CC is just too good! Teams will need to come together and it’s more than just blocking that’s needed …more of the CC effect.They were loosing bad ,any player with game,is not going tolerate that for long.Integrity in players will hopefully shine through.Saying it as it is.

this is my first time that the coach is always on the spotlight instead of the players, nba or wnba. Sides is just way over her head, at least make her an assistant coach not the head coach.

Game plan changed at halftime.
Something no one ever talks about with Clark is her arm strength, probably because she is so thin. Her passes have incredible velocity, especially the long distance ones. Her logo threes aren't chucked up, they're jump shots with perfect form. Ever try to shoot from that far away? And for all the talk about turnovers, she's an accurate passer considering what she's attempting out there. Note to WNBA players, I don't think any of you have those skills, so stop acting like she's all about threes.
On a side note, how many airballs were there in this game?
