Angel Reese set another double-double 'record' last night that was celebrated, despite playing poorly in a blowout loss without teammate Chennedy Carter. She also got a ranking in the new 2K25 video game along with fellow rookie Caitlin Clark. Let's talk about it.

Angel Reese has now had her shot rejected 60 times in 26 games with 14 games left, the record was previously held by Natalie Williams who had her shot rejected 53 times in 34 games. I cannot narrow down the exact year this record was set, but Natalie played in the WNBA from 1999 to 2005. This was updated from 54 rejections before the all-star break to include Angel’s 5 rejected shots against the Mercury on 8-15-2024. Updated to include the one rejected shot from 8-16-24
I don't hate angel and this has zero to do with race, I would take Jonquel over her, I only post these results to hopefully stop the foolish talk about the ROTY race. There is no ROTY race!

Reese had 15 total rebounds and 8 were offensive. I only saw 6 of those on her own misses but even at 6 that’s terrible. Shooting 4 of 14 from 3-4 feet away and 3 of 8 on free throws. She only had 11 points and as a 76% free throw shooter they had her take the technical free throws to make sure she got her double double. You also have a 97% and a 91% free throw shooter but nah gots to get that double double that means NOTHING. Other players are averaging a double rt. now for the season.

Why didn’t WNBA congratulate Reese on two broken records. Most offensive rebounds in a season AND most blocked shots (Reese being blocked that is)? Previous record was 54 and she now has 60 shots she has been blocked. Killed old record with 14 games left.
If you are going off my post above, I was corrected. She had 5 shots blocked instead of 6 and there are 15 games left....one more game for her to increase the total.

Chicago Sky is less worried about victories more interested in double doubles. Pretty sure this is why Mabrey wanted off this team. Mabrey only wants to win. Not concern with stats. End of the day the Sky will back into a playoff spot.
Mabrey stated, if I remember correctly, the Sky was not playing winning basketball, that would seem to indicate she was not down with the faux double doulbe streak.

Why do the WNBA referees allow Reese to put her shoulder down and jump into the defender every time down the floor? Thats her only post move and even if the defender is still or even retreating, the refs give her the call almost every time.

In Head-to-Head League play, Reese Leads Clark in OREB & DREB 26 to 22 - why does a 6ft 3in forward only have 4 more DREB over a 6ft Guard
Clark leads all rookies and that includes Angel Reese, in points per game (17.1), assists per game (8.2), steals per game (1.5), free throw shooting (89.1 percent), field goals made (138), 3-point field goals made (71) and minutes per game (35.2).
Reese is 39% under the basket (misses 61%), shots under 50% at 5 feet and less than 13% from 9 feet (missing 87% of the time is pulling in 324 Pts from 121 OREB (40% of her shots) Reese made 113 shots on 276 shots 129 FT
If Clark has a top tier game tonight against the Mercury it should put the nail in the coffin of the ROTY fiasco. Reese fans will still claim it but they'll know its over.

Getting credited for a rebound after your shot got blocked is insane. Her moves are really slow and clunky, I'd be surprised if she is even a starter in a year or so. I honestly think the W was built around the Queen bee mentality. Look at Aja Wilson she wants everyone to bend a knee to her as the league leader and make sure we all know she is the reason the league is functioning. When something else changes this narrative, she has a fit and blames whites, fans, other players even reporters. If you watch, she will make sure a complaint gets out but will not say it on camera. She will stand next to someone ranting while she laughs and dances and nods her head, so she is not held to account for a bad or racist comment. The way she does it you know it was said but she does not say it but just nods when it is said. She has done many interviews where she has her minions speak for her. That is what I mean by "queen bee" She has the league bowing without bowing.

Reese made 4 of 14 shots and had 8 offensive rebounds most of which was her own missed shots to get that double double, just stat padding!!!!!!! Why don't they say Reese also has another record or talk about it??? That record is has most missed lay ups in the league!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If it were that easy, more players would do it just to pad their stats. How is it possible to purposely get your shot blocked and purposely get the rebound in hopes of paddling stats.

Reese's double doubles are mostly fraud if you really look at them being a high % of her own missed shots. The game against the Mercury showed how the doubles are not that important. 4 of 14 from the field on mostly putbacks is embarassing. The record setting performance means nothing when you are losing games. She simply is not an elite player no matter what her PR says.
Disagree on the media @3:25 and on, about the media making it a big deal. They were ignoring it until AR herself called attention to it by demanding the ball to get her points when game was pretty much over. That's when the media finally started "noticing" and they were slow to admit across the different networks and/ or analysts from there. There is a problem with the coaching if she can't shoot and is the top 1 or 2 option. Nothing said on that either.

I'm a simple man who takes what's in front of me and uses common sense to the best of my ability. After looking at stats for the WNBA Angel Reese only leads in rebounds and everything else she's under 25 ranked. I've seen her play in college and up until she had the famous hand-waving thing against Caitln, I never paid her any attention. She's only famous because of that. Angel's biggest game in college was the rematch against Caitlin and that spilled on to the WNBA. Angel is a good player to say anything different you're being a hater. But she's not an All-Star, Olympic player. or a future HOA. She's not! She's not the player you're building a team around, she's that player that you would get to help build a team.

Why do they consider it a rebound if your shot gets blocked and comes right back in to your hands? Does the NBA count that as a rebound? Just curious.

As a longtime fan of basketball, I am appalled that the WNBA allows rebounds off a player's misses to count as an offensive rebound. This isn't legit basketball, it's a joke.
