- Angel Reese has had a fairly impressive rookie season, but there is still A LOT of room for improvement in her game, ESPECIALLY in her ability to finish around the basket…
Fans are seriously questioning her basketball fundamentals as she has an atrocious ability to finish around the basket with efficiency.
She is shooting a HORRIFIC 40.2% from the field… and is even shooting below 50% on shots less than 5 feet from the basket and is shooting a TERRIBLE 13% on shots 5 to 9 feet from the basket…
Some of these layup attempts are REALLY bad, and a lot of these layup attempts are not even hitting the rim and she’s within 3 feet of the basket…
And it’s not something that has happened once… It has happened MULTIPLE times…

Neither one, are next level good.
CC is next level, the whole league is trying to come up with strategies on how to defend her that is outside their normal defense, and they are having to hustle back on defense, which is similar to what Magic did.

The reason why she is in the running, is because she is the most impactful player on her team. Regardless of the misses, she is still dominating the game. Her team is much better when she is in the game

44% of her rebounds are offensive rebounds. that's nearly half. and is shooting 39% from the field. that means probably every single game, there's at least 2-3 moments where she goes up for a layup, misses, and her size allows her to just get her own rebound. That means she is objectively a bad basketball player. absolutely INSANE that they're considering her for rookie of the year when caitlin clark is legitimately lighting up teams with efficiency and great stats. the only reason Reese is a part of the conversation is that they can't allow a straight white woman to be the sole star of the WNBA, when really she is.

It is not her size that allows her to get the rebound. It is the fact that the opposition does not expect her to miss from that range and they are just gawking. This girl knows exactly how she threw the ball and where it is going to come back down and is ready to catch it on the bounce.
The rare times when Reese does miraculously make a wide-open layup, she always has this arrogant look on her face as if she had just hit a 35-foot jumper with two defenders in her face! She's by far the worst rookie in modern basketball history!

Women’s basketball is not good. And before anyone says I’m sexist…Men’s College basketball is not good. At all. People really don’t appreciate the level of skill of an NBA player. There really isn’t any other basketball product that is remotely close to the NBA in terms of school or simple entertainment if we are honest with ourselves. The gap between NBA talent and the rest of the world is so much further than any other sports and competitive league.

Reese often does not bend her knees to jump. Many times, she has jumped off her right foot on the right side of the rim. She does that 2 step 2 footed layup. She has a great motor, but her basic foot to hand fundamentals leave her looking so uncoordinated. She would benefit from basics boot camp

I'm a fan, however she needs to work on her low post game! First, with her lefthand! She flips it up from shoulder hight instead of a basic layup. That's why she leads the WNBA in her own shots being blocked. Second work on her righthand, yes she's left-handed, but she still should be better at using her right!

I've been saying that Angel Reese doesn't deserve to be in the same breath as Caitlin Clark.
I watched both highlight videos of AR and CC and it's obvious that CC is on another level. AR is not even on the same planet as Clark. Clark for ROTY is a no-brainer. Not even close.
She definitely takes a lot of shots she shouldn’t take. I think the cause is that her skill set is so limited, she can only hit off the backboard layups. She can’t shot a floater, or a step back, can’t finish with her left hand and doesn’t seem to consider an outlet pass. She has the body of a professional, but skills of a high schooler.
What is she 22? 23? You make it that long and you can't consistently shoot completely open shots from a few feet any better than she does, and I don't think it is a matter of it "being only her first year". She is just big. She has no real athleticism or talent, just big. She is classic wnba. Stand under the rim and catch. She tries anything exciting, and she is a walking blooper reel.
She really needs to get in the lab and work on her layups. But her coach is obviously not coaching her. That's the sad part.

I'd argue Arike Ogunbowale is a overall better point guard than Clark at this moment. Arike is well rounded player that has ball skills a mid shot game and three point game.

They are both known for their rebounding, and both consistently missed the bunny shot. Cunningham didn't suck, but he wasn't a superstar. I find it overly similar to Reese. Cunningham did win RotY and a few other honors.
