- Angel Reese, the WNBA's leading rebounder and Chicago Sky power forward, recently hurt her wrist and is out for the remainder of the season. There has been some controversy as to the seriousness of the injury. Let's talk about it!

The problem with that is you can't assess the talent levels of teams, like the Lynx, Sun, Liberty and Aces while only watching the Fever. The Fever aren't on their level yet even as good as Caitlin and Boston and Mitchell are. I find likeable players on most teams to watch and enjoy. The league, yeah, it's a crap show and needs improvement.

Angel just comes across as a self-absorbed fake human being… from the fingernails, to the fly-swatter eyelashes, the various wigs, the overdone makeup, the bizarre hair wings, and the various costumes she creates. It all yells “Look at me, look at me!” And who wears a big necklace with their own name… as if we could forget it? She and Caitlin are the same age, but the difference in adult maturity and behavior between them is stunning. It’s also rather sad.

The problem with the whole league is they are sketchy about information period. Other leagues give a plethora of information about injuries. Especially because betting odds are so prevalent in sports today they want accurate injury information. The WNBA keeps people in the dark. A'ja Wilson was in a walking boot which usually indicates a high ankle sprain which takes weeks to recover from but you hear no details on any of these injuries. With a person like Reese who has been a proven liar, the Sky bus incident, how can anyone believe anything that she says without proof?

A player shuts it down for the year, and social media commentators make assertions. Is the WNBA drama-filled, or are the folks speculating pregnancy, low pain tolerance, ROY fear, locker room issues, etc. the ones that are drama-filled. She said she doesn't want to risk long-term injury.

“Follow The Time” AR had an average of 32.5 minute play time. During all that time the team was forced to watch padded stats get racked up. SOMEONE HAD TO APPROVE THAT. 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️ AR AND CC22 are polar opposites, one thinks only about herself and has a HUGE EGO, the other puts the team first and has a HUMBLE HEART. * All the turmoil on the Sky may have very well been caused by AR and her ego. In my opinion players on offense are frozen watching a NARCISSIST hog the ball in rebounding situations. Cordoso is a fine assist passer on rebounds. I am watching the Sky these last few games to see how the team performs . If the last game was any indication, they do not need Angel Reese.
Watch her interview after her last game, keep watching her wrist, she has no problem with it there and she said she kept throwing 3 pointers after the game, that sounds strange with a sore wrist.

I was watching a video on another channel about this topic and you opened up the video with the classic Ronnie Lott video of him talking about how he had his finger amputated so he could continue to play. Obviously Ronnie is an example of the best of us in an outlier to have determined athletes can be, but what an ocean from where we’ve come to today in sports.

When someone skews reality multiple times it makes you wonder when they do something like what Angel did.
Everything is always so sketchy surrounding the WNBA. I can't believe that the betting lines let them get away with not coming forth with more information. They demand that leagues be open and honest about the extent of injuries. But I would have always wagered that the Sky would be better without Reese. A case of addition by subtraction. The team looked so different playing together as a team. What game plan would ever let your worst shooter have the most attempts every game and think that is the formula for winning?
she played with a swollen ankle in college because she was still trying to get to the next level to market herself for that money. Now that she is at the next level she shows her true self. If she cared about Basketball, her teammates, and the city of Chicago she would be getting ready to play the next game. As a person she is a straight up Narcissist. Fortunately for the Sky this is actually a good thing. They will play so much better without her. I give it 3 years and she is irrelevant to the WNBA. I doubt she has a surgery. There will some kind of miracle that she will not need it, and she is healed. Maybe I am wrong.

Pro & college athletes who can deal & perform with pain are the 1% top performers. You can be the most talented but if you have a low pain tolerance you be average at best. 😮
The Sky will have to face this problem next season, with her being "injured" now the problem is temporarily solved, but it will be back next season. The Sky has but two options at that point and they will have to choose between them.
1. Release her, and say have a good career.
2. Trade her somewhere if, there is any team willing to her and her drama, they may get something in return but not as much as one would hope.
This situation was brought on themselves and they have to figure out what to do going forward, they have some tough choices to make. If they keep Reese there will be more players asking out of Chicago and eventually those players will leave, the issue her is Reese and her demands of have the ball so she can pad her rebound stats, we have all seen it. She has no real game and is not a team player by any means, the best was you deal with that is to cut it out, she is a detriment to her team. We will have to see what happens in the near future.

Here's an off-the-wall conspiracy theory. Angel went on her podcast and pretty much insulted all Iowa, Indiana, and Caitlin Clark fans. She did not say some she blamed all CC fans for the actions of a few trolls. Maybe she got suspended for it.

Nah. The league has treated CC like shit all year and are STILL disrespecting her (did you see them put out the list of the top 5 favorites to win MVP, and they didn't have CC on there?) They haven't cared all year, so why would they care now? My conspiracy would be that the locker room is an absolute shit show with other players including Carter who are sick of catering to her. Reese is feeling a LOT more heat lately and sees that everyone is aware of her glaring weaknesses in her game. It wouldn't be a bad thing for the Sky to lose some games to get a better draft spot, so the solution to everything is to let Reese sit out the remainder of the year with a minor wrist injury.
The W commish just made a statement on it in media and everyone's attacking her. Reese fed into the evil fans narrative on her pod and made it 10 times worse. If she got disciplined, it's not enough for the damage she did.
That's why CC plays free - she is not bogged down by social media as she ignores it. AR, like a lot of people, are addicted to social media so trolls, which EVERY celebrity or professional athlete have, get their toxic views affect them. AR should delete her twitter app or have a team be responsible for her social media so she can focus on the game of basketball instead. But if fame is what you're after, you better have thick skin.

For those not quite old enough to remember Brett Favre, the guy NEVER missed a start at least in GB. I think he did late in his career.
The point is some of his injuries were hideous! He played on really bad sprained ankles, a broken thumb, and others. I remember one game he actually got knocked silly. He snuck back on the field unbeknownst to Holmgren and threw a TD that he didn't remember afterwards!
CDS is right. Adrenaline will kick in and allow you to continue. It'll hurt like hell the next day but in the moment you can play. I too played through many ankles and knees in my younger years. It can be done.
CC plays with migraines. I've only ever had one in my entire life but to this day 40 years later, I'll never forget that pain. I was riding in a bumpy truck on a long trip home when I was on a racing crew. I can't imagine playing basketball having experienced that pain just ONCE!
Off topic, I've been talking about lineups and specifically mentioning Grace Berger. I came across some 2023 Fever Grace Berger highlights. Wow! If anyone gets the chance, all I can say is, who does she remind you of? She has great handles! She can hit 3s with regularity. She plays defense and I saw some good blocks. She plays point or SG. She passes almost a lot like....well go look for yourself. Why she isn't playing is beyond me. I was stunned!

3:14 into the video, Reese is talking to a camera explaining her injury, the wrap is on her right wrist. If you watch the highlights of the Sky vs Dallas game and Reese jumps up and celebrates the basket made by the Sky you will plainly see the wrap is on her left wrist. So what wrist injury does she have?

@@ChicksDigScarsPodcast The other commenters are correct, I went back and watched the highlights of the Sky vs Wings and froze the screen of a close up of Reese and the A of her necklace is against her right wrist. The wrap is on her left wrist and not her right as the video makes you think it is. My bad.
I don’t know if it’s just a pain tolerance incident, but I know she’s experienced some horrible pain. While at Maryland, she broke her leg so badly, she has a titanium rod in it right now. Maybe after that her tolerance for pain is low. I have a titanium rod in my leg, plus a plate and screws and a titanium hip. You’re always aware they are there. They react to cold, rainy weather, and with a titanium hip, lying on your side is a thing of the past. I’ve always believed the uncoordinated looking run of hers is due to the rod. Someone told me before she broke her leg, she was dunking the ball, obviously something not happening these days. On the other hand, a body language expert says when someone is talking to you and they keep moving their eyes to the left or right, they are not telling you the truth.
The eye movement in a certain direction isn't accepted theory any more. You're better off establishing a baseline of non-verbal cues (eye movements/lack of movement, blinking, head tilting, etc) for when a person is telling the truth, and deviations from those patterns would indicate someone is lying.
Is there is film of her dunking, that would be a pretty awesome thing people would love to have seen.

Of course, this could be speculation, but I’d imagine the doctor telling her about it and her asking all these what if questions and figured it was a win-win situation. I think she was scared because Cardoso is actually better than her and the fans have been pulling for more minutes for Cardoso. The suspension at LSU had to do with a big blow up between Reese and another player.

Two reasons why Angel Reese faked her wrist injury, or at best, highly exaggerated it. Angel wants you to believe she is injured. Angel wants you to assume her terrible shooting is because of her wrist.

CC knows she does not need her own podcast to prop up herself, and she has not said anything that even comes close to playing the victim. AR knows her game cannot compare to CC's, and that podcast is her way of expanding her fanbase. CC just plays her heart out every game, and lets her on-court performance speak for her.
I'm not going to criticize her for taking care of an injury just because she could potentially play through it. Her team has been a mess this season and they're chances of going far in the playoffs ain't great. I do think she let the fake ROTY narrative get to her in bad ways and hopefully she's good next year when she's just a player and focuses on what's good for her team.
ROTY is not important. Championship is all that matters.

Carter is probably tired of being the best on the team and resenting Reese getting all the attention.
Cardoso is provably tired of playing limited minutes when she knows she's better than Reese and was drafted at number three, not seven, by the same team.

I suspect T-spoon finally got the message that Reese's play was so inferior it was becoming likely the Sky wouldn't make the playoffs. Time for pretend time to be over, Reese to be conveniently shunted aside, and better players to start getting the minutes they've deserved, like Cardoso most obviously. Chennedy of course should have been suspended after whacking Mabrey in the face, but becoming mysteriously, dangerously ill for a few games prevented that fate, and then the assault was down the memory hole with these terrible officials.

I got a boxers fracture in my right hand and instead of not playing ball I learned how to shoot with my left now I can shoot pretty decent with my left hand and my right hand came back to normal after 3 years of being broken so I now shoot with both hands

I think it was a locker room issue that came to a head. This losing streak while Reese getting her numbers is not good for a team. I’ve had to talk to bigs who constantly put shots up and never pass to us shooters on the outside. This is also T Spoon first year head coaching. Making the playoffs would be a good look.
