Using Recycled Paint + WE HAVE WALLS!

  • The saga of my schoolhouse door restoration continues! AND WE HAVE DRYWALL!!!
Thanks to the folks at Up Paint for sending me a gallon of paint and primer to test on these doors. Check out their site to see more on how they recycle paint! uppaint.com/
Also- on the drywall, (!!!) such a big thanks to Colin, George, Hugo and their crew from Robert D. Young Construction who have been meticulous about the framing and install for this part of the project. Putting drywall up in a 100 year old building is super quirky and they’ve just been rolling with it and solving problems as they come up.

I found out recently why most door hardware was made of brass - apparently brass is anti-bacterial so it was a good choice for something that got handled by many hands in a day....this is great stuff you're showing us! thanx for letting us watch your journey...

We renovated a church that was originally a “sportsman’s club” into our home of 28 years. Best thing we ever did. It is OURS and everything we did was exactly what we wanted. No rush to make bulk decisions. And we lived in it for a couple of years before big renovations to see how we wanted to use the space. Thanks for sharing!

For any of your Canadian viewers: we also have recycled paint and it's great stuff! Loop from Niagara Falls is sold in Giant Tiger stores. $22/can vs $50/can new, is a no brainer when doing a big project!

That door project is pretty incredible given what you started with and where you ended. Given everything the school has been through before you got it, it's astounding that the OG doors were still there, let alone pretty much still looked like doors! Granted, it's taken a very long time to bring them back to life, and a boatload of effort, but being able to have them in your house is pretty incredible.
The other part that's fantastic about your vids is the appreciation you voice to your crew for all their hard work and effort to create the home you envision for yourselves. Good trades peeps are very hard to come by these days. You're very lucky to have found such incredibly skills ones to make this happen.
It's so fun to see a new vid posted!! Thanks for continuing to share this journey!!!

I just came across your channel just before Christmas and I had COVID so I’ll be rewatching a lot of your videos, but I’m wondering with that being an old school property have you guys ever walked any of the property especially where the playground was with a metal detecter to check out that part of the property it’s gonna be a blast to watch that part of your adventures set up a small area just for treasures that you’re going to find like in your library if you guys have one omg with some old school books on shelfs or in a glass case on display makes me wanna go do that down in our old school but it is now a doctors office. I went to school there Grade school and I’m 60 as of two weeks ago I’d say that’s school at least 100 years.
