You never see Raymond Reddington and Alan Shore of Boston Legal in the same room together. They're they same person -- both unique and classic characters, both pure James Spader.
I do need to say a word for Dembe. Basically, everyone needs a Dembe in their lives. The protector, the stalwart, the faithful companion, the conscience. Spader makes the show, but it is very hard to separate Reddington from Dembe. Red wouldn't be Red without him.
He's the reason I started watching the Blacklist, and he's the reason I still do 8 seasons later. One of the greatest actors of our times, or any time for that matter.

Raymond and Dembe are a great combination. Dembe does call him on some of his stuff and you can see they genuinely care for each other. The entire cast were perfectly chosen for their roles. If James reads telephone book, I would listen to his voice like I listen to music and poetry. What is in his voice that makes it soooooooo heavenly. No actor has his power, attraction and magnet.
He's right about Clark Middleton's character, Glen. Outside of Red, Glen was the best character in the series. One thing I quickly realized about Glen was that while Reddington could walk in on any Prime Minister, any King, any crime boss in the world and they would stop whatever they were doing, Red always had to take a number and wait at the DMV when he needed to see Glen. Those little scenes always completely cracked me up. When Glen showed up in a show, it was like Reggie Jackson (yes, I'm old enough to remember) coming to the plate in a ballgame -- you didn't get up for anything until the scene with Glen was over. Other than Red's relationship to Dembe, his relationship to Glen was the most complex and enjoyable to watch. The tribute episode with Huey Lewis was as quirky and as delightful as Glen himself.
It was obvious that Red saw Glen as a friend. Red being one of the most powerful criminals in the world would wait for this common man when he could go to anyone else

Spader can narrate a murder and we would still just sit quietly as if its normal. Spader doesnt play Reddington, Redington plays Spader. He is the MAIN reason I watch this great show. The writer's are great but SPADER makes it come to life.
I have so big crush to Spader that it's not funny anymore. I think he radiates sex and is very intimidating at times and funny too. Audiobooks would be great! He should tell me to Shut up.
The lengthy road James Spader has taken in his career as an actor has seen a major evolution in his take on acting. I personally, as a former stage actor look at James and see someone more dynamic now than who he was in let's say, Stargate. His ability to deliver lines more fluid now is apparent. He can rattle off his dialogue as if it is coming off the top of his head. Very different than some of the things he did in Stargate where lines seemed more scripted. Not that he was not a good actor then, he always has been. I look at his style and have to ask if he is a method actor.

Being able to binge-watch all 8 seasons a lot of things are answered that are normally looked at as mysteries. The question of who Red is to Lizzy is answered by season 4, it is just that you have to watch them quickly to be able to remember even the placement of some words in a scene. ie, are you Elizabeths father - No, is Elizabeth your daughter - Yes, two opposite answers but both can be correct. Clark Middleton created a quirky character, Glen would make Red wait to talk to him all the while enjoying watching Red squirm.

Glad it's continuing, Spader is amazing. There are so many different directions this can go. Liz was a secondary character at best, whose back story could have been served in a thousand different ways. Hope they send her kid to live with Scotty, who's more than capable of looking after her; and that whole story line can die a quiet death.

Spader is the best...He makes the show. In many ways, I'm glad Liz is leaving. I grew to really dislike her character, and root for Red in every case. That's great writing and performance!
His voice is not snobby. He learned to speak well, enunciated well, and has a tremendously edifying vocabulary from reading consistently. He also like someone else said speaks with his hands and his voiceis well modulated. He has the whole package. Plus I suspect he is brilliant.
Oh my Gosh I've watched since episode 1. What a thrill ride its been. Love Every character on the show. Of course Raymond and Liz relationship but also Denbas. I've cried over many episodes. There's so many levels of Love in the relationships and loyalty and also deep dark ones. Will continue watching until it's sadly over! Always watching from South Carolina

The Blacklist is the only show I keep up with. Every episode every season it never disappoints.
Spader is the best...He makes the show. In many ways, I'm glad Liz is leaving. I grew to really dislike her character, and root for Red in every case. That's great writing and performance!
His voice is not snobby. He learned to speak well, enunciated well, and has a tremendously edifying vocabulary from reading consistently. He also like someone else said speaks with his hands and his voiceis well modulated. He has the whole package. Plus I suspect he is brilliant.
I hope that it would never end. The actors and actresses are amazing. Red and Liz's relationship keeps the show upbeat.
I love watching the Blacklist.

Oh my Gosh I've watched since episode 1. What a thrill ride its been. Love Every character on the show. Of course Raymond and Liz relationship but also Denbas. I've cried over many episodes. There's so many levels of Love in the relationships and loyalty and also deep dark ones. Will continue watching until it's sadly over! Always watching from South Carolina

It says a lot about. a show when they still havent revealed who he really is, and how every episode gets you eager for the next one even after 8 seasons
