At the end of season 1, we see scars from a fire on "Red's" back. It could have been from any fire, but it is suggested he was present at the fire Liz was saved from after having shot the real Reddington. Besides Rostova, LIz and the readl Reddington, who could have been there? Why does Mr. Kaplan, in digging the real Reddington's skeleton say to herself: "forgive me Katarina" (or should we rather say Ekaterina?). We have seen "Red" ready to die for Liz, not hesitating to exchange his life for Liz's - would an uncle or a friend of Katarina go that far 25-30 years later? Why did "Red" save Alexander Kirk's life? Only self-interest? And Kirk accepted to leave voluntarily - what did they say to one another? At the end of season 8, "Red" is ready to die to let Liz read a letter, says "Red" written by Liz's mother. If Katarina is not "Red", that she wrote a letter when Liz was only a child to be read in some future to reveal the imposter appears quite improbable. But if "Red" is Katarina, a freshly written letter is still by Liz's mother. Katarina was condemned to death by the Cabal, the US secret services and the Soviet/Russian secret services. Being #1 criminal on the FBI list looks like a vacation compared to that situation. Liz could be used as a blackmail against Katarina in order to get Katarina - this is why revealing "Red"s" identity as Katarina could put Liz in danger. But if Katarina dies, and it is known with certainty, Liz is not under that threat anymore: hence the condition that Liz kills "Red" before reading the letter, and the affirmation that if the read the letter before, Liz would not be able to kill "Red". Those are a lot of elements in favour of the Redarina theory, and I probably forgot some others.

    I think Red is Katarina
    1. Do you remember in season 2, Reddington told Liz that he had her memory wiped to protect her from the trauma of killing her father and in season 8 episode 21 we learn that it was Katarina who had Liz memory wiped not Reddington.
    2. At the end of season 1 episode 7, we see Reddington standing in front of a window and remembering standing there before and watching Liz play in the grass, that scene can be seen in season 8 episode 21 with Katarina standing at that window and watching Liz play in the grass with Jennifer in her arms.
    3. The way Red and Kat folds their coats, check the first scene of s1ep1 and Cape May. The way they both kiss Liz, you can see when Liz was dieing, she knew they are the same person.
    4. In season 4, when Red was talking to Liz about the Cabal, KGB and the CIA, he said they were after him. From season 6 going, then we got to know that they were after Katarina not Reddington.
    5. Everytime he talks about Katarina, he says he knew her better than anyone. And knows even where Katarina put her things in Dom's home.
Why do you think everybody who got to know the truth wanted to hurt Liz, if Red wasn't her parent. We now know that the real Reddington (Liz's father) is dead and Katarina is alive, so what makes you think it's not Reddington.
These are my own analysis that convinces me that Katarina is Reddington and when you say Dom hates Red but loves Katarina, that's somehow true but don't forget he hates Red because all the time he says what you did to her, what you did to Katarina. My explanation is that he loved Katarina before working with the Cabal but hates her for working with the Cabal, for bringing all these things on herself and her family, so when he sees Red he remembers Katarina she betrayed him and worked with the Cabal and changed her gender. So he no longer recognises her daughter but sees a male criminal who brought destruction to his family.
If you think Red is the real Raymond Reddington still then I don't know what to say to you. The question is why will he kill people who discovered his identity if his identity is Reddington which everybody knows. Why?
This means he is not the real Raymond Reddington.
And those people also saying maybe it's a twin brother or a cousin of the real Reddington, that's also crazy. How come we've watched a show up to season 9 with almost 200 episodes and no one has ever mentioned you. How?
Although I don't like the idea of transgending and don't like transgenders but If Red doesn't turn out to be Katarina, I will be very disappointed. After all these sacrifices and help, who would do all these if not a parent.
And those saying, they want red to be the real Reddington (Liz's father), do you know why they revealed that Katarina got burned in the fire season 8 episode 21, it was to debunk the fact that Red is not the real Reddington because from the start of the series, people were saying he is the real Reddington because of the burns on his back. They made it possible so that people can't use that to debunk the fact that Red is Katarina.

I just finished this show so I know I'm late.
Is there a clip where some guy says n-13 is Red and also n-13 is Katarinia? I could have swore I saw 1 person say both were n-13 in the plot line where they were hunting who is n-13. Was it Glenn? Glenn "died from west nile" an obvious fake death (somebody look into it) Also in the black and white flashback who is the narrator? Alot of these details can be known by one or 2 of the people in the flashback but not all of them at the same time. It can only be explained by Redarina mother theory.
Red's plastic surgeon had a huge file on him and Dembe was instructed to remove his body after Liz was supposed to kill him. I believe Red had only complete top surgery and failed bottom surgery due to lack of technology during the cold war era.
The relationships Red had personally were very feminine in their dynamics and construction. He preferred to use manipulation and emotion in any relationship, but violence only to end a relationship. Even his torturer preferred psychological torture to physical. The way information was collected and used was spy-like, yes, but also the same way a women would use to attack in an argument, always brining up the distant past. Holding it against you forever like its the fucking fulcrum or something. Mr. Kaplin's alias was a hint. Both Kaplin and Dembe stayed employed out of love (both of them sexually attracted to females). Mr. Kaplin's death was the emotional polar extreme of love, meaning Red also loved her. Red is frequently engaging in feminine hobby of wine and chitchat. As well as fasion.
Katarina's father didn't know about Red until the end of his life. He always believed he betrayed her and lead a guilty life of self punishment until Red came along and offered him a position in the empire. At some point he was filled in on Raymond Reddington's skeleton being stored there and likely asked the correct questions. Knowing his daughters spy methods due to being her handler and trainer, he would have seen right through this. It's likely he also knew Red was dying and suicidal. So any discussion of killing Katarina had a different meaning for him than the meaning for the audience.
Reddington being suicidal is also a hint. Transgenders have a high suicidality personality trait. Living a spy life takes it's toll.
The unshown knowledge collected in the bunker indicates not only a vast criminal intelligence network, but also access to a (or many) government intelligence networks. This is not something 1 person could build as playing themself alone. Redarina used the Russian information network when he was Katarina, then swapped to using the criminal network when he was Raymond. Then tried to infiltrate the FBI.
Masha/Liz only can be the focus of Reddington's protection to this extent if he is either her father or mother. The real Raymond Reddington burned to death in the fire. His bones are in the suitcase. No brother or sister or promise would cause this relationship to be this strong for total strangers. If Red was anyone besides mother or father they would not have seated her as the exclusive FBI agent to start the blacklist due to the lack of motive and huge cost of being in custody and also an informant who could be killed by any criminal for snitching at any point. Ilya is shown alive and aged so he didn't become Red. Ilya and Katrina were the only 2 ppl who discussed becoming Red.
My final point that Katarina and Raymond are the same person is the writing isn't that good. You can explain away the fact that every blacklist case is connected to serve Raymond's goals, but you cannot explain away how everything else is connected via plot convivence and ex machina. It's an obvious tell that this is daytime tv writing. Every person on the cast must have an interlinking relationship. The real FBI wouldn't put up with any of this bullshit. When a show writes like this and also leaves a blank they are intending for you to make the last step and put the name in the spot "mad libs" style because they built the contextual spiderweb already. They say here are your cast of characters, pick 1 to solve for X. If X=Raymond's true identity, then X cannot be another undeveloped character because the writing is "daytime tv" in quality. If it was reality you could say, it's a massive earth full of people, anyone could be Red. But the worldbuilding in this story suggests that the limits of the search are just those with interlaced complex stories told. Due to bad writing real Katarinia was never found, and ex machina, real Raymond was never discovered. Therefore here's a letter your mother wrote that will change your mind about killing Raymond. Plot spaghetti requirement fulfilled.

      1. I don't remember there being a time that they are both stated to be N13 but there are separate occasions when Katarina and Red are both acknowledge as having been n-13.
      2. The black and white is narrated by Katarina. You have Red, Young Katarina and fake Katarina but they are all recounting the story from Katarina's perspective. Presumably this is Liz processing what she read in the letter given to her by Dembe as Red also recounts the story.
      3. The black list is predicated on the existence of advanced science, and that particular surgeon was part of the Blacklist. I believe you are to assume that such "bottom" surgery was available.
      4. It seems likely that Dom knew Red was Katarina. This is why he had disowned him/her and why he blamed Red for taking Katarina away. Dom knew Red hadn't done anything to Katarina because Dom is the one who faked Katarina's death and knew that Red was protecting fake Katarina. Plus Dom recounted how imposter Red came to be to Liz, but it was later confirmed he lied about who became Red...indicating he knew who Red really was.
      5. Katarina bought access to the network with the money she got from becoming Red. So Katarina before becoming Red had nothing to do with using that knowledge.
      6. The real Red was shot and killed, he died in Katarina's lap. The real Red wasn't burned in the fire.
      7. Red says under truth serum that Liz is his daughter, and it is later proven that the real Redington is her father, and proven that the real Redington is dead.
      8. The writing for he first 4 seasons was actually really good and very tight, but the show was obviously supposed to be a 5 season show and when they sold out to continue the cash cow the writing quickly went into freefall because they had to begin obscuring clues that they had already built up and send the viewers down absurd "red" herrings to stretch out the longevity of the show. It was a betrayal of the narrative they had built.

@@bverji I can't believe I'm still getting responses to this a year later. Good job. I see you put a lot work into this and I agree with you on the vast majority of points. My major disagreement is this: advanced science is not a thing that can exist, or dose exist. Science is just the discovery of facts that already existed that have now become understood. If science knows that #1 is true and #2 is true and #4 is true, then science can hypothesize that there is a #3 that is undiscovered that should be true. All things that are true must be true relative to all other things that are true. So, when worldbuilding even in fantasy you have to make sure things are not logical contradictions. Such as "her penis". This is why words in the real world should never become parody of themselves.

@@JayDee-vq5rf Advance science would be in comparison to the level of scientific knowledge between two cultures, this I would of thought obvious. As for "her penis" phalloplasty does exist and has gotten better over time, so a Blacklist doctor whose science knowledge is more advance than the general scientific knowledge of the time so this isn't a logical contradictions . The problem is your lack of knowledge, presuppositions, and inconsistency in what you are willing to apply suspension of disbelief.

It is the only thing that truly makes sense of all the events and dialog in the Blacklist. Red is Katarina. I'm at a point I believe this is so obvious, if they changed it now without telling us because they got cold feet or whatnot, it would feel like an obvious bait and switch. Unless there's some really genius explanation that makes everything makes sense in retrospect, bringing in the deus ex machina at the eleventh hour, be it the magic uncle or twin or whatever, will make a farce out of a brilliantly constructed plot up to season 8.

Wow......The story of Liz & Red is a Greek tragedy. But in spite of everything they put each other through, they knew that they loved each other. Liz knew that they were family in some way, and that Red also loved Agnes, which is why she couldn't kill him, as he'd asked her to......As she was dying, Liz remembered the night of the fire, the way her mother used to hug and kiss her on the head and the way Red used to do the same. She remembered her mother carrying her from the burning house. She finally knew/realized that Red = Kat. So heartbreaking that Red couldn't tell her this himself years ago so that they could live in the truth that they were mother (now transformed into Red) and daughter.

The “in your face” clues are there. But a sound strong theory rests not on the obvious “hints”, but on the clues that are subtle and hidden well enough within the scripts that the viewer would be able to easily miss, unless they went out of their way to analyze the PROCEDURAL aspect of this show over numerous seasons, which is one of the best ways to conceal your best clues to an end game.
Not just pointing to the obvious in your face clues, which actually aren’t really true clues at all because their communication to the audience is too explicit and require almost no analytics as a result.
What’s a subtle clue I see? Red is trying desperately to find Naomi at the end of season 5, RIGHT BEFORE THE BONES REVEAL. He thinks finding Naomi will lead to the bones. Yet Redarinists and even Third Man theorists like to claim those bones had no connection and nothing to do with Naomi. Which is a pretty incredible statement considering the ONE PERSON Red was unable to find in season 5 was the same person who he thought might have had the bones via Garvey.
And the timing of Naomi’s allege death coincided with the timing of Kate’s unearthing of the bones IN 2017. All the sudden Naomi becomes a MISSING PERSON for one year, which qualifies her DNA profile for CODIS via Jennifer’s DNA profile if Garvey found it necessary to upload her profile into CODIS in the event Naomi was found after gone missing for one year.
Then right after Red learns of her allege death in 2017 one of the first actions he takes is to rob a bank in 6.01 requesting safe deposit box 604. What’s so interesting about this specific safe box? The number of the safe box matches the same 3 digit number from the Naomi/Berlin arc in season 2,
[The Blue Jay on Benning Road. N-Number 604]
The same apartment address Berlin directed Red to in 2.01 that directly related to Red’s quest to get Naomi back.
And of course we have the similarities in how Red treated the subjects of Liz’s mother and Naomi around Liz. Liz realized between 3.16-3.18 that Red was trying to keep her mother from her, WHICH SHE FOUND UNFORGIVABLE.
But she also saw how Red was trying to desperately hide and keep Naomi from her in season 2 and prevent her from asking Naomi questions about her past.
So he was trying to keep BOTH her mother and Naomi from her. Same approach for both women.
And then interestingly enough Red admits in 8.20 that for the last 30 years he had been trying to keep Liz’s mother hidden as a part of his 30 year project with the Sikorsky Archive?
We know Red tried to keep Liz’s mother from her. This was observed in season 3. But he also tried to keep and hide Naomi from her. By definition the same exact approach to both subjects.
All of this analysis solely from analyzing the PROCEDURAL aspect of this show. The SUBTLE clues.

@@sabineblankschein3745 I have heard this argument a gazillion times on the Blacklist subreddit. Dembe does not know Red’s real identity like Naomi? Yet Red had no issue with Liz being around Dembe? Red also had no issue with Dembe being around Liz even AFTER Dembe told Red multiple times he thought Red should be honest with Liz.
      From season 2:
“You were right, Dembe. I should’ve told her.”
      I understand why you didn’t”
      From season 5:
“Why can’t you be honest with her?”
      I don’t know. I don’t know.
“Even after everything that’s happened? All that’s been lost?”
“You’re still lying to him and to Elizabeth. Until you stop lying, there will be no peace”
      From season 3:
“If the universe wants her to know, she will find a way”
      Dembe: She deserves the truth.
      Red: Watch the road, Dembe.
So what does that tell you?
Kate did not also know Red’s true identity? Yet Red had no issue with Kate being around Liz after we were introduced to Kate’s character? And we know from Requiem that Kate warned Red years ago that she would not hesitate to choose Liz over Red if he put her in a position where she felt obligated to choose, because her FIRST loyalty was to Liz, not Red:
“If you ever put me in a position where I have to choose between what’s best for you and what’s best for her, I will choose Elizabeth every time”
And on your assumption that Red was afraid Naomi would carelessly say too much or anything to expose him you are overlooking one major detail during Liz and Naomi’s second encounter that speaks volumes about Naomi’s state of mind at the time.
      Liz: Hello, Mrs. Hyland.
Naomi: Does Raymond know you’re here?
Liz: No. He doesn’t want us to talk.
The very first thing Naomi says to Liz when she sees her at her door is if Raymond knew Liz was there. This means Naomi was very conscious and aware that he did not want Liz around her and asking Naomi questions that could compromise him.

The question was not "who he was" BUT "who she was to him" and other than a paternity test DNA wasn't going to show anything and there was no reason to believe there would be a discrepancy between the blood samples.
Obviously part of it too is it was a forced narrative to make the story work. It is easy to ask why someone didn't behave in a way that makes since to the viewer, but have to remember that not everyone thinks the same way and decisions usually are not strictly rational. It is enough that the show explains what the decision was, not the rational behind the decision.
