@9:15 ... and there’s the Hillsong electric guitar worship setting that we all know and love
The song I surrender
Was about to sing "You were the word at the beginning.."
He's an awesome example of a very well rounded, and humble guitarist! :)
John Stratton that's the spirit of God in him ;)
Hey bro, funny running into you here too God Bless!
his miserable life
Very cool seeing the rig of a sound I grew up listening to. Nigel's one of the unsung heroes of the instrumentation on their records. Great guy with an incredible ear.
"You really need a Bachelor's Degree in Audio Engineering to fully understand this board, but I'll do my best to break it down for you"
I am just now "discovering" Nigel and his work,,,and I am so impressed and completely blown away! LOVE this guy!!!
Beautiful work Nigel, it takes so much time, dedication and sacrifice to keep honing your sound, God Bless man! much respect
9:30 I wish I had this sound!!!!!!!!!!!! The sound of happy dreams!
He explains them all in the video.
Wish more guitarists used stereo setups. It's a pain in the butt carrying 2 amps and setting everything up, but it sounds so stinking good! That's when those fancy stereo delay/reverb pedals really shine!
JC 40 ;)
That one's on my wishlist. Love the Jazz Chorus amps.
I did stereo for a short time last year. Only a handful of gigs. It was a real pain carrying all that gear. But after I didn’t do it anymore I’ve really missed it.
wet dry is where it is at, friend
@@forrallofusplenty4342 Absolutely. Superior to stereo imo and lacks the problems that piss off the soundperson running the board. It's better for FOH and the audience and can sound "more stereo than stereo" if done well. It's like a "meta-effect"
Atm, I have Chorus/Rotary/Vibrato(it's a Source Audio Gemini pedal, can be set up for any of those and more), Opto/Bias/Harmonic Trem (more Source Audio, the Vertigo), a Nemesis Delay, and my Reverb running to the wet amp post-split. It's not a pure wet/dry rig as I do have a flanger pre-gain and another delay going to the dry amp. 1/4 notes + dotted 8ths or triplets for each amp, respectively - it's phenomenal. Delay times set to the Brian May "Brighton Rock" values can be amazing.
But mostly it's one delay, and that dry amp means I never get lost in the mix if I wanna crank the wet FX.
Can't say enough good things about W/D.
Wet/Dry/Wet - now that is something I wanna try as well!
9:16 OMG the sound of heaven
That reverse delay from the DD-5 is incredible! I've never gotten a usable reverse delay out of mine.
Must be Jebus, doing more magic through it ...
I had the pleasure of loading in hillsong's gear a few years back, and they let me lay our Nigel's rig. It was quite the experience being a gear head and honestly I worshipped the guy.
loading in gear, a pleasure? !!!!
Ben Brunskill haha I enjoyed it
Which god? The one you happened to be taught to believe in?
Such an under rated guitarist.... had no idea of what all his skills on a guitar were! Been doing worship music for a long time as a pro.. And this explains ALOT of how he gets those beautiful sounds!
Nige! Love this dude.
Caleb Mills yeah this cat needs to come out more. He has an awesome tone.
Awesome tip with the Timeline. Will try that. Also, his ambient setting sounds huge.
I love the way Nige present his gear! hilarious 😂
Very intelligent, engaging and humble dude. I appreciate you guys featuring him.
I love the sounds. I'm definitely doing this... Thanks Nigel...
His my favorite guitarist
Ah-hahahahhaaaa XD
He's
I've been eyeing that synth engine for a while. Love the sound!
and.... my gear-want list grows again! This is awesome, of course so is Nigel!
9:30 is SO good. Love that he doesn't lose his pick attack in the ambiance. A bit surprised that he's not running an analog delay, tbh. :)
I need to know how he did that. *NEED TO KNOW.*
If you watch other rigrundowns of his gear he actually uses the analog delay from boss
Giving your reverb a longer pre delay will allow the attack to come first then the reverb to come in a few ms after.
What no metal zone... plz Explain
Best comment
omg no
hahahahaha! Cleaver comment!
nah was expecting a Korg Miku
haha imagine that! ^^
I wish you guys did a Gear Video with Bobby Strand from Bethel Music too.
Who?
@@danielcervantes3905 And THAT'S the problem
@@carlostorres1171 lol
@@danielcervantes3905 he's one of the producers/guitarists/music director? i think im not sure at bethel church
When you hear part of a riff to one of your favorite worship song.
The Superego pedal is such a powerful musical tool. Had one for a couple years. Then I got the Super Ego +. And I love it. - Cool board Nigel! I really like the side chain (parallel) processing feature of your crazy cool switcher. Parallel processing is the real deal for solid tone.
I do really like the design and color of this guitar, I wish Fender will make this on their production.
Has Nigel considered making a podcast about crafting tone?
Nigel, blessed with great skills
He has loads of time to practice ... ...
Title: Stereo Rig.....
Me: Listens in mono...
such an inspiring pedalboard
Thats bloody amazing and it sounds gorgeous
man for how expensive and boutique almost all that stuff is, what a bright sound! Soooooo b-r-i-g-h-t. Can't say I latched on to anything but the verb/delay/synth stuff. That was gorgeous. What a player, too. Geez
Thanks for doing this Reverb, and I agree that the title is a bit misleading. Still an interesting video. Nigel is clearly a talented and creative player/musician, which I hadn't realized before. Was interesting to see how he stacks his pedals for his tones - and loves to have the Fuzz even though he doesn't get to use it on Hillsong songs! I imagine a way could be found...
And I immediately recognized the great work of the Goodwood boys on his board!!!
best person in the domain why knows how to play to/in/for the song. Domain = the world.
i think this is the 100th time I'm watching this, i almost memorize this already
Great tones.
Everybody lately is using the same pedals...which makes them sound sooo similar😕...of course it sounds amazing
strymon strymon strymon
They are so great. I love the timeline and the big sky is just angelic...but as you said...they all have them
But at least they create great music :-P
Agus G.T. Information overload, less happy accidents. People have too much available at their disposal so are making a lot of vicarious choices opposed to making what they can work which = creativity and unique choices
Except me....guitar/tuner/amp lol. No help at all. When I started out on it, I'm like fuck! I can't play as well as I thought. It took about a month to get really clean on it, and I've been playing for over twenty years.
i agree a lot of pedalboards (especially in the Church band type boards) tend to have the same type pedals. But this is supposed to be a "professional board" so i interpret this as someone who is a session musician for hire, who needs a general range to cover the sounds needed by most situations. My board definitely would not look like this pedal wise. I'm more interested in the aspect of making it efficient technical wise rather than sound wise.
9:15 I really love it!!!!!!!
I can do all that with a BOSS Metal Zone and RV5!
:-P
I kid I kid.....I do think however, that Nigel would be one amazing person to jam with and have some inspiring sessions!
Just love the distortion tones 😁
Thanks brother, kewl set up!! going to try some of these pedals
Nigel is, as always, an absolute legend. Love how he uses the Timeline (with the Mod Depth and Speed to enhance the stereo image) and I'm fairly positive his expression pedal is connected to the Repeats but can someone confirm?
That clean tone!!! Damn!
Nice board! I just picked up a Dunlop DVP1XL and I love it so far.
Nathan Shafer I was looking into those a while back. How is it compared to an Ernie ball. My Ernie ball takes up like 2/3rds of the weight of my entire rig 😂 they're so heavy.
Hey Kevin! It is actually a lot bigger than the Ernie Ball, which could be good or bad depending on how you look at it. I know a lot of people are going to smaller volume pedals but I actually like having a nice big footprint for now.
Lol I love these 90's law and order licks
Lol 😂
Wicked sound 9:14 I could swim on it all day long!
nice Drives thanks Nigel for sharing your gear
amazing Suhr Alt T Pro
Droff always knows best.
I LOVE YOU MAN
He wasn't joking when he said "it sounds pretty cool". 9:15
A board to gweesh over. Nice!!! Nigel, if you're listening to these comments; try a BOSS DF-2, amazing effect when you stomp and hold, i think you'll love it. Also the FB-2 similar but without the distortion but also useful/expressive i find.
You have an amazing talent bro
This my best guitarist ,he is very series with what He do!
I love Nigel! :)
Legend!
Awesome 👏
I wish I could setup this reverse delay in my DD 20... really nice sound!
Gracias 👍🎧🎸👍🇭🇳🇭🇳
Price tag for everything he's using... $10,386.95
Not even. less than a couple grand easily. for everything including board and cables.
Either way, taxpayers are probably footing at least part of the bill (Hillsong) ... *eyeroll* ...
Kieren Moore lol taxpayers? How?
The musicians purchase there own gear man. Take it easy. Also they don't get paid big bucks even when they tour because its part of there job description.
spicecrop Whatever not even close. His guitar alone is over 2k.
Nigel Hendroff totalmente es un crack
I just bough the Super Ego Synth and Delay V. 2 from Earthquaker Devices and I can't wait until they get here. I was going to buy the Big Sky instead of the EQ Delay. My next buy will be a drive, the Big Sky for sure, a compressor and a pedalboard. What kind of pedalboards are good? I ended up downloading Reverb app and well I love it, thats where I'am buying my gear haha
Thanks Nigel and Reverb for uploading this, it helps us worship leaders/group members firgure out what to use and make the song, our own version. I personally don't like copying what people use, because we aren't being unique. But we have to start somewere right? Thanks again, Cheers!
love his ambient tones. IMO all he needs is a noise gate + make some of his tones darker and he’d have a perfect sound.
Do you know how he runs the superego in his signal chain?
This guy is cool ,His is my favorite Guitarist , I love so much same cornestone song with his sound Guitar
Dude! You have killer guitar licks...
Smashing
i love all about feel that buddy play :D
In this video use prism first but now i see in jackson audio video use first compresor(bloom)
9:30 I imagine heaven will sound like this.
All I can do is salivate with the rig 🤣😂
Love 'Droff and Hillsong :)
The only thing I didn't care for was the Cusak Scuzz Fuzz @ 5:10 That was not pleasant at all. Maybe it was how it was set but it was not a good tone. All the others were the best to be had, and his playing is so clean and precise. Another up and comer to keep eyes on. Damn, there are so many!
Nigel's been around for a bit. Very accomplished, actually
Dimebag Dio Kilmister he's the music director of hillsong.
OMG! This Pedalboard its Awesome!!!! I need all the Pedals! , Nice Tutorial , its much expensive but i try no posses all , Tasty Song´s!
What a rig! Drool-worthy.
2:53 Broken Vessels ;)
I like so much
Well, I share at least one pedal with Nigel: the EHX Superego (which I think I use more, the more I find it's capable of) 😎
Isn't that guitar a Suhr Alt T Pro???
Nigel your a god my friend !
ICONIC FIGURE!
Question. Is Nigel playing on the top boost channel or on the clean channel?
7:46 what's the title of the song?
Hey Nigel! I living in Ireland and im involveld in worship here.
Any chance of you Sharing some strymon time line Presets you created?
God Bless
Ish
You ‘re play suhr awesome ...guy
This guy is a Big musician.
So basically I need to buy a kemper amp and a helix pedal board and I’m good to go. Probably a lot cheaper too. Cool setup.
Anyone knows what pedalboard he is using? He used to use Timon Klein's. But this board seems bigger. Any idea, anyone?
Would love to have those timeline and big sky settings!!
T.J. Bernander it's not too hard to dial it on your own you know. For delay: chorus: low mix and feedback, intro: 100% mix and med feedback. Reverb: ambient swells. Long decay, high mix, "drones" dry signal down low or to to zero. Etc.
lol the huming noise is insane!! Even when the sound is produced :O. Good tone though.
When I started playing electric guitar at church way back 2004, I have no pedals, just clean sound.... then I bought a cheap distortion pedal and used it one sunday, the pastor doesn't like the sound....so I go back plugging my guitar straight to the amp.
lol
I am convinced that bloke has extra joints in his fretting hand!
Love
I wanna say he's using a bloom preset on the big sky for that huge ambient sound
Great video of a Great and inspiring player but, does anyone know which powersupply he uses?
Wicked. 🤘
Anyone have an idea which interval he uses on the ice setting on his Timeline for the ambient tone in the video?
00:49 pretty "suhr" that's a Suhr Alt T Pro and not the Classic T Antique. :)
I recently got a MicroPog after seeing it on so many worship boards but am seriously having a hard time finding uses for it. It sounds so out of place in worship to me..maybe I have the setting wrong but I tend to use it for leads but it makes the lead sound less clean and glassy and more nasally. I even have it set pretty low and when I try playing leads it tends to always sound better off. Thinking of getting rid of it
2:55 I need to find a way to copy that sound!!!!
🐐
