    We thought the passivity and lack of aggression at Ibrox was a one off. ..it wasn’t.

      @@TheCelticExchange ha ha, I hope so but what worries me is,after the debacle at Ibrox we are still fragile at the back when teams employ an aggressive approach . Even before the Rangers game the signs were there,against Bruges and to some extent Hibs at Parkhead. If our glorious leader can’t sort this we may have to resort to his predecessor’s maxim.to wit you score 4 and we’ll score 5.

    Left CB is a real concern in those high pressured moments. Idah, although I think he’s a good player, really needs to jump start his Celtic career. If we take our chances we run out 4-0 winners but ultimately we didn’t. Fair play Dundee. Calmac has dipped but I do think that’s the number of games. But he, alongside some, need to step it up again. However, it’s not been a season long issue and we are ahead in league, won league cup and CL still positive. Grand picture is far better than the acute issues of some individuals, however those dipping in form need to find it and it’s right to raise it when assessing. Good show lads!

    Thought Kyogo was outstanding and man of the match for me. It was noticeable that when he moved back in to the centre he didn't touch the ball. Maybe we need to consider this when discussing Idah. It seems like we have only been playing with the back four and two wide players and miss out the midfield and the central forward. Would like to see us playing a bit more through the middle again and attempting to overcome the mid block. Becoming a bit too predictable in our build up.

    • @TheCelticExchange

      A good shout Liam and been asking the question for a while about our options in the middle if its not happening for our wide guys. Think we miss a Tom Rogic type player in the middle.

    Cmon, if Scales had played like Trusty did Paddy would be calling for him to get dropped. It wasn't just the two goals. He gave away other chances due to poor touches in this and the last game. Trusty lacks aggression and his concentration at times is questionable. You cannot coach that into a player. Scales can be accused of some things but lacking aggression is not one of them. I firmly believe if Scales had played against Dundee we would have won that game.
    Also the criticism of Yang is over the top. He has actually played well overall in his last two starts. A goal and winning a penalty. He makes good runs into the box.
    Btw 'weak as piss' is a saying in Ireland. So he did say it..

    • @TheCelticExchange
      @TheCelticExchange  19 дней назад +1

      Why cant aggression and concentration be coached into a player @PLL?! Surely those are things that can be worked on as much as anything else in the game.
      BTW I dont think Scales has done much wrong to lose his place either but in terms of on the ball stuff Trusty generally looks a better player, dont you think?
      p.s Point noted on the "weak as piss" comment 😂

    Paddy said we're not going to sign a center half this window, I think if Tierney comes in he would be a great addition next to CCV

    • @pegleglonergan1539
      @pegleglonergan1539 20 дней назад +1

      That is an option but it doesn't solve our problem at left-back. Taylor should not be our first choice in that position. if he leaves and Valle we will then need two left backs.

    What to do with a goalkeeper and club captain who are not at their best is always the trickiest selection decision a manager needs to make. Both positions seem to be immune from being dropped. Calmac has been, and is, a wonderful Celtic player and captain. However, he needed to take the game by the scruff of the neck in the second half on Tuesday and I barely saw him. The team would benefit from him sitting out a few league games.

    • @TheCelticExchange
      @TheCelticExchange  19 дней назад +1

      Dont disagree with this Gary and Calmac, the same as anyone, shouldn't be immune from being dropped if he's out of form. I dont think he influenced the game at Dens Park on Tuesday in the way that we know he can.

      @TheCelticExchange Credit to Paddy that he called out Scales's limitations early b4 most people, but he never let us down before being replaced. You can see he is now lacking in self belief that comes with not playing regularly

      @@TheCelticExchangeI saw him playing alongside Teddy Sheringham at Millwall in the auld English First Division before it became the "Premier League".
      He wis very effective in that team.
      He wis shite at Celtic, but then again almost the entire team wis shite under Brady.
      Idah is currently displaying the same hesitancy, clumsiness & lack of confidence that Cascarino had wearing a Celtic jersey.
      The jury is still oot on him.

      I will say this yet again our defence is. PISS , poor at times amatuerish , slightest aggression or press whatever word you want to use, again we're are Kennedy and what is Rodgers watching , this rings a bell with Rodgers first. spell , and again at Leicester , we haven't got 1 man in the team who can pass a man from a standing position, if nothing works with the one twos, nothing happens, as for the tippy Tappy crap at the back, opposition players must think they have won a watch , all the time in the world to set up , so let's stop kidding ourselves on from an auld Tim. who is realistic

    The players are not doing themselves any favours in regards to being sharp, ruthless or clinical and are showing they can't be rested in some of the SPFL games. They are fizzling out in some games and agree they should be taken some of the SPFL games to get sharp, ruthless and clinical in the first half of games. It's worrying at times as we seem toothless in some games and yes it's a cold night up in Dundee. But were is the professionalism and the players mindset for getting ready for the Champions League competition. Our pro's should be using some SPFL games to show how clinical and ruthless they are and proving they are match ready to compete in the Champions League by firing on all cylinders.
    Or are the players playing SPFL games with the Champions League games in mind but in a self-preservation way?
    It seems players might be playing worried that they might get injured and miss out on the Champions League matches and are playing too cautiously. When they should actually be worried that they are not preforming within the SPFL jeopardising any potential game playing time in Champions League games due to not being sharp, ruthless, aggressive or clinical in the SPFL. If the players think they merit a start in the coming Champions League ties due to playing well recently in the SPFL. They need to think again?
    And if they are concerned about getting knocks before the Champions League games? Well they should put a sharp, ruthless, aggressive and clinical first half performances killing teams off by half-time. Now the manager can comfortably rest the player by rewarding him, by resting him for the second half. Reducing and limiting fears of getting injured or any knocks before Champions League games. As the manager can now rest the player by replacing him with a sub for the second half. But the players need to earn that right by putting teams to the sword by halftime. That's called a well earned reward!
    But naw they are playing with fear of injury and have not killed teams off by halftime meaning instead of playing 45 minutes they need to play the whole 90 minutes. Which means they are putting themselves at higher risk of injury. Yeah where is the logic in the thinking if players are playing with injury fears. Because that's the only explanation I can think of as to why we have dropped 7 points in recent games. Is it a fear of missing out on Champions League games if so well players need to visit the head shrink asap. HH
