@@CDmusic10Nope it's unusual and that's why it's getting the hype. U just answered urself. As the other guy said, in football, one player or two can't change trajectory of the team. So when it happens it's an anomaly and anomalies bring attention and hype.
Look at Cristiano joining Al Nassr. For a while after he joined, if anything Al Nassr became worse, losing all titles which they used to win comfortably. Not cause Cristiano wasn't way better than the previous guy, but cause team couldn't take the massive shift and no matter how good he was Cr7 couldn't make up for shoddy defending etc. Neither could Messi for that matter. It's a game being played on a 100m field. A single player just can't cover all bases. That's why leadership & playmaking is so much more important in football. And as world Cup and This Miami team has shown, Messi is amazing at quickly earning the love and loyalty of his teammates. That's leadership right there. And it's a combination of all these as well as Inter Miami players showing up at the right time, and Busquets and Alba aiding Messi, & finally the coach change to Martino who knows how to best utilize Messi. All of this together makes this possible. And even then it's kinda unprecedented. For the worst team to suddenly become best, instantly after a top player joins, is something of dreams in football. Hence the hype.

But Al nassr would have eventually won that cup by the amount of progress they were making with or without Ronaldo. Al nassr is pretty much one of the strongest team in Saudi, whereas Inter Miami was the last until Messi's arrival. Do you see the difference?
