@@furygeist This happens in plastic surgery clinics all over the world. I highly suspect that this is a normalized pattern of behavior in the world of plastic surgery because all plastic surgery horror stories I’ve read have had similar mistreatment by doctors and nurses towards patients no matter where in the world the story came from. It's not about love. It's about his future. Korea is highly competitive & shallow. In order to have a comfy future, you need to be employed by the top 5 companies like Samsung & Hyundai. To get to those companies you need to be graduated from top schools & beautiful. To get into top schools you need to be bright & yes you also need to be beautiful. Many Koreans with decent jobs & income have to live in small minimal flats so that they could look beautiful, dress expensive & eat out in fancy restos because otherwise people would ignore you.

The story of the boy's mother, and her pursuit of justice and holding those accountable and not giving up - well, it struck a chord with me to the point I actually cried. ☹️ bullying is a very big problem in korea. The boy was good looking in my eyes. I dont understand why he was bullied for his looks. Plastic surgery is dangerous in any country. The risks are high. Yet in some countries the plastic surgeons encourages it and in some countries like korea this has become part of culture. I think plastic surgery should only be done on people who medically need it. Or if their is congenital anomaly like cleft lip. We are raising the beauty standards which is getting oit of control☹️
Also what you said about training. If the trainee is for some degree or certificatiin then they are allowed to perform assissted surgery initally and later independently. This is not illegal than how do u think they will learn to perform surgery.

I’m glad to see the Kwon Daehee law exists, so at least he gets to leave his mark after all… but that does NOTHING to ease the Kwon family’s pain or replace their loved one. I can’t believe this is even happening in the world today and good for you for bringing it to a platform that will help spread the word and maybe help bring even more change and less pain for others.

Thanks a million for this case as I have not heard of it. I did hear about some cases here in the US where some have died during their plastic surgery operations. Surgery of any kind always comes with risks which is why I would never have any type of surgery that is not health related.
I feel so bad for him and his family. His mother is a strong and loving mother who reminds me of my beloved late mother. He was already so handsome and did not need any kind of plastic surgery at all. Those who bullied him or anyone should be ashamed of themselves. There are bigger factors that come into play which are focusing too much on looks and bullying. South Korea really needs to improve and change those 2 issues plus others if they want to become a better society and create a better life for their people. If people were not so focused on looks, these plastic surgery clinics would not even need to exist and none of these cases would have ever happened. Looks fade with time, especially artificial looks which can deform your face down the road so always need to be maintained. You need to feel good about yourself mentally before anything. Plastic surgery is a quick fix that you may regret down the road. My heart goes out to his mom and family. Hope he is in a happier and better place now and that cases like this will not happen again. I sincerely hope people learn to look beyond anyone’s outer appearance which would help prevent these cases.
Kwon Dae-hee did not die in vain as he left behind a legacy that will hopefully help spread awareness and save others. Kudos to his wonderful mother for making her voice heard!

I am a Finn and I went for a cheap surgery to Estonia (so called cheap country for us Finns, just like Americans going to Mexico to get cheap drugs). I got my surgery in 2015 and had not adverse events since. The hospital staff became nice after I said "thank you" and smiled at them. Before that they were quite grumpy. But you can win hearts for your side for just thanking and smiling.

I am just thinking of the pain Daehee suffered during the procedure and whose life was taken away because of the bunch of irresponsible medical stuff. I can't believe such a thing can happen in South Korea! Daehee was already a good-looking man, still he was bullied! These incidents will never stop until people realize that the definition of beauty is beyond someone's outer looks. I wish instead of feeling compelled for plastic surgery, he shared his distressing thoughts with his mother! South Korea is a land where almost everyone is sufficiently educated, but it's really shocking to see that some of them don't understand the real meaning of beauty! Daehee would be alive today if he was appreciated for who he was and maybe if he got proper counseling. The medical negligence also shows the poor transparency and accountability from government. How come a developed country like South Korea can run such a medical corruption! I salute the mother who continued her battle until proper justice despite facing multiple failures. Public awareness and parents-children communication should be more strengthened. Clinical counseling should be provided with children so that children like Daehee who think they do not look good enough, can be encouraged to prove their own worth and establish their own identities without being sad for their present look.

It saddens me to realise how people are so much consumed by the unrealistic beauty standards. I have no idea who decides what's beautiful and what's not. Reconstructive procedures which correct defects are acceptable, but undergoing "mandatory" procedures to get the 'perfect' face or look like an idol is plain stupidity. Why does our self worth have to be validated by what others think is good or bad? Avoid comparing yourself to other people- You're perfect the way you're!
