@@reacp9114 I remember reading a theory about how the Tet uses the civilizations it enslaves as social experiments to understand organics better. Yes, it would be much easier for the Tet to skim Jupiter's atmosphere for hydrogen to power itself, but it wouldn't learn anything.

It’s sad how underrated this movie is! This is one of the few work of science fiction adaptations that got the drones so right! The drones in this movie are some of the most formidable pieces of tech shown in film; exactly what I would expect from an advanced alien AI capable of decimating the entire human race. One drone could take on a literal army in this movie, and it did!
Whereas in most movies, enemies feared by all are bested by a protagonist who gets on a vehicle claiming he doesn’t even know how the run the damn thing. All that on his first and only attempt. I mean wtf!?

Mandolarian actually uses a bunch of techniques they pioneered here with this movie, like the digital sets with big basically movie screens around them showing the environment that give proper lighting to the props/characters and are high-res enough to actually be used on-camera instead of needing VFX CGI replacement afterwards. It also lets the actors actually see and react to what's supposed to be around them, since they can actually see it there, instead of having to just imagine it on green screen. It was a big step up from usual green screen set stuff.

The Tech behind that aircrafts weapons is freaking awesome. It is able to rotate in a 360 space making you able to engage from any angle. You don't have to bring your face forward. The only thing I would say that would make it better, is if the gunner "sphere" is separated from the pilot "sphere"

The drone who killed Vika never got broken, it was planted there since the beginning, exactly for moments like this, if the crew would ever go rogue. It had no shielding because it was never supposed to operate outside. They "know" they were 5 years into the mission, that the drone got broken, and that there are 2 more weeks left, but that's because that's what the Tet planted in their brains, in reality they were never supposed to leave earth, and the drone was supposed to keep an eye on them. Change my mind.

Absolutely. I'm sure 109 itself wasn't sitting there without a shell for the whole five years, but I'd bet anything there was always one drone "broken" in there at all times, exactly for this reason.
