Yes, friend. But the most beneficial and helpful plant of the three types of plants I have for breeding the minnows is the hornwort (Ceratophyllum). Its a minnow fry's perfect safe habit for growing and not getting eaten. :)

Fun fact: elephant ear (Alocasia) and duckweed (Lemna) are both in the same family (Araceae).

That looks beautiful. I am jealous, that’s one snooker table sized pool of life, you need to get your camera under the water, that would be amazing

My favorite pond so far. Very well built. Can you offer advice about construction? Does this use a pond liner, what ply, number of layers, and how is it tacked to the frame? How is the weir plumbed and sealed- siliconed bulkhead through the table to the filter below? Have you had any problems with leaks in that area? I'm curious about how you framed and floored the lumber under the pond and above the sump.
I have an approx 12',2.5',1' long plastic pond that was presumably a horse trough and was planning to place it on a fir pallet structure nearer to the ground and build rack space over head for seedlings, but I like the way you elevated this table and I don't want to cut and plumb the plastic unnecessarily, it might be better suited as an in ground pond for ducks because I have concerns about cracking and longevity. Plus it would be impossible to clean debris or remove wasps in a ground frame. Thanks for sharing.

Hello. I can try and make a video of this tank's construction but it would be after the fact. I constructed the tank from pallet pieces for the sides and 1/2" plywood for the bottom. Across the bottom transversely are 2x4s supporting the bottom plywood and providing support for the sides. The tank is lined with 50mil pond liner which is wrapped over the top of the tank and stapled on the top of the sides of the tank. Then I screwed a 1x4 finishing piece on top of the liner to make it look better. The effluent weir pipe penetrates through the bottom the tank where I installed bulkhead fitting. A uniseal would not work because of the 1/2" plywood. I used silicon to seal the bulkhead fitting to make sure it wouldn't leak. No problems with leaks. I also painted the tank to keep it from weathering. I raised the tank so I could put the filter below and more or less out of sight and so I wouldn't have to bend over to do any cleaning or feeding.
I'm a structural engineer so I used that knowledge to design the tank. The legs of the tank are supported on concrete pavers. I should have put the legs on bigger pavers but didn't. The tank thankfully has settled more or less evenly. Thank God.
If you use your plastic pond I would wrap it with an nsulation blanket and build a wood screen around it to protect it from the elements but you don't have to do that.
RE wasps, etc, I just bought wasp killer to kill the nests underneath if they are even built. I had one instance of that in the 18 months since I constructed it.

Can I ask why you’re raising so many?

The purpose of the breading tank is to bread the minnows to feed my hybrid stripped bass and largemouth bass in my two aquaponics systems. My stripped bass are 18" long minimum and I have 7 of them. I have 9 largemouths at 5". Bass only eat live food. :)
