    What a great tutorial. I'm also using Cubase and Ozone so this was perfect. And what a treat to watch a recording video that doesn't feature EDM.
    Cheers from Ireland. She'll be right!

    Nice job overall, but I've watched a lot of tutorials on this plugin and something that nobody seems to explain or be clear about is regarding bass space... Once you have muted your bass elements and run your remaining mix through the meter, then cleaned up the "mud," does the bass space meter serve any purpose anymore once you've un-muted your bass elements? In other words, with all of my instruments un-muted, should I worry about bass space hitting hard in the red?

    • @kdwmixingmastering
      @kdwmixingmastering  3 года назад

      From what I understand it serves no purpose after you have cleaned up the low end on none bass elements. The process you did seems to be correct but when you put all the instruments back you can ignore bass space.

    I absolutely love your reviews! I purchased Metric A/B and was wondering if you think it’s worth buying LEVELS and/or EXPOSE as well? Also, would you consider doing a Bassroom plugin review? 😸🙏🏻

      Thanks for the great feedback. To be honest I don't think Levels will add much to what you can already do in Metric A/B. Get the demo and try it for yourself as you can only really be the judge of what you need and like. If you owned Reference instead of Metric A/B then it would be a good addition but otherwise I am not sure it will add anything.
      Expose is one of those tools that I think is great on the surface but then I never use it. If you have a need to double check your work after you have bounced out your songs then it might be useful but I am pretty confident with everything I have done by this stage and don't feel the need to use it. Especially considering I have used various other tools inside my DAW to test most of this.
      Bassroom I demo'd and I did do a video but then I lost the video before I got to edit it and upload it. Now I can't demo the software again. For a quick summary of it. I found the interface different and unique. I couldn't get my brain to relate to it. It just didn't make any sense to my way of thinking and no matter how good or bad the results of the plugins sounded I was never going to be comfortable with the layout and how it functioned. Definitely demo Bassroom before buying it because it is so unusual I think you will either love it or hate it.

      @@kdwmixingmastering Wow! Thank you so very much for your extremely thorough response! I seriously appreciate it. That helps me a lot! 🙀🙏🏻
      Regarding the other tools you use in your DAW that replaces the need to use Expose, are you willing to say what those plugins are and what you use them for? 😸

    • @kdwmixingmastering

      @@musicbySTIX I use various tools that I have acquired over time. I use Metric A/B as you have. I also use MeterPlugs Dynameter and Loudness Penalty Plugin. I use iZotope Insight 2 and the Klanghelm VUMT. I use a combination of all these to check and double-check my mastering sessions. You can use them all in mixing as well but mostly in mixing I know what I like and I mix at fairly low volumes so I don't need to monitor too much. iZotope Tonal Balance is also a good one to get an idea of the frequency balance.

    Great video. How is it your version of Lvels has the word 'headroom' instead of Peak?

    • @kdwmixingmastering
      @kdwmixingmastering  4 года назад

      I think this is an old version of the plugin. The current version I have is labeled as Peak and not Headroom. Thanks for the feedback.

    I use the youlean loudness meter. Us there a benefit to use the Levels plugin when it just comes to loudness measurement?

    • @kdwmixingmastering
      @kdwmixingmastering  4 года назад +2

      It is just a simple meter that is meant to be done in a unique way that suits certain people. If you get what you need from your loudness meter then no there is no benefit. The only benefit is if you don't have a loudness meter or you don't like the one you have. Thanks for watching.

    I do not recommend these plugins. There are big problems with authorization in Windows. Plug-ins without a permanent Internet connection do not work. Support ignores the user. Irecommend MetricAB from Plugin Alliance is a brillant!
