Great job, I as well own the exact smoker silver cup cart and all. Agreed totally with the storage until I started using it a Nd decided I would be on my hands and knees under the front shelf if there was built in storage. I’m also in Canada and mine came home at -35 C. It never missed beat, after the initial burn in I did install the blanket. Love this smoker, after using the pizza oven for calzones and lasagna I would highly recommend the pizza oven. Again one of the best yoder 640 vids on the RUclips rabbit hole
Thanks Mark! I try my best to be comprehensive and clear. I agree though… a beast of a unit, built to last forever. I have a separate pizza over and decided don’t need another.. lol
I just bought this exact grill, with the same competition cart, and I am waiting for it to be delivered right now. I just found the video while looking for intro tutorials on how to get going. This was a fantastic overview. Subscribed!
Agreed. We just got ours. Menards sells a "Wrap It" for the extension cord and use a magent for storage. We bought with silver comp cart, grill grates, pizza oven and griddle. I seasoned it with Crisco grill spray inside/outside.
Oh!! Brilliant. The only thing that bugs me about the comp cart is the lack of storage. I have the grill grates, the tools, the griddle, half shelf… annoying a bit to find place to store them.
thank you!! I tried to learn from the other ones but found they were all lacking in quality and explanation :) glad you liked it! I shared a few recipes too on the YS640s.
@@ImpossiblyKosher Definitely the many scars of battle.....including broken welds on the hopper lid. Still works like a dream can't imagine replacing it. Am considering the newly introduced pizza oven attachment.
great to hear! I'm beyond excited to get started and putting some serious mileage on it. The pizza attachment looks quite cool. Personally I like Pizza ovens (they get to 1000F) which is where I need my Pizzas to be cook at.
Hey there @peter5706 I’m looking at buying one of these or a recteq are the yoders worth it and have you had any issues at all I have been wanting one of these I just want to make sure it’s worth it and cooks in cold temps and gives good flavor
James, I would buy it again, it is a well built smoker. Mine has been in a covered patio since i brought it home. The only item I have replaced is the ignitor. I looked at the Rec-Tec and Green Mountain grills....availability seemed to be an issue for them. I have no regrets. Hope this helps.
Shalom, in your opinion how much of a pain in the tuchas is it to clean the ash? I have had a GMG for many years (usa made) and i swore to never buy a pellet again, due to maintenance. There seems to be lots of newer models of grills that offer ash dump and pellet dump…just wanted your opinion…thanks.
100% Yoder Yoder is built to last a lifetime. FireBoard system Very good at holding temps and smoke incredibly well in all temps. Definitely recommend! It’s a different level!
you will LOVE it! just take care of it. Like clean properly, and call their Customer support with any questions. The Yoder is built honestly to last forever. Even if it rusts, you give a basic sanding and touch up pain (which they give you). Most other brands (made in China) will last a couple years and start to chip and no way to repay.
Outstanding Video. Cannot wait to Nosh w the Wife. Thank you for the info. Gerting a drop in 480S in April 25 for my Patio. Live and Be Well. J from Chicago. Your Yoder looks outstanding! Do you have bumpers on the back of your Counter Weight? God be w you abd Family.
I'm undecided between the Yoder 640s and the Camp Chef woodwind pro 36. Considering the cost difference between the 2, can someone tell me why I should get the Yoder?
Honestly both are incredible units! Camp chef has advantage of the smoke infusion addition to the pellet grill. The Yoder will last a lifetime and is built to last. It will require some maintenance, but we’ll worth it (in my opinion). Large cooking surface, flexibility to open the hood and have direct grilling, grill grates, griddle, extra layer for cooking, honestly the Yoder is an awesome unit with the cooking process being powered by FireBoard is a nice advantage. Temp monitoring is incredible too. But if on budget, Camp Chef is a great one too. I’d say maybe a better comp would be the Apex though. Also Yoder YS640S was rated #1.

Sorry about that! I probably said it but didn’t show it fully. When you have ashes in the firebox, you just pull the firebox out and dump the ashes in that section.

Love it! Thank you for the kind words! Glad I can help :) I am trying to post more and more YS videos, you’re gonna LOVE IT!

Great!! What do you mean a magnet for storage???
I have to buy some high heat silicone to fix up a seal joint.
It’s great!
@Impossibly Kosher it hangs the Wrap It for the cord

Best YS640S review yet !

Nice review. Bought my YS640 in 2013, upgraded the electronics to the S model. Still want to get the comp cart someday. Oh and the pizza oven thing.
Built to last.
I love the comp cart, I wish we had a tray option to store the grates and shelves though.
Have had my Yoder 640 since 2013.....awesome grill!!!!!
Awesome! my question to you is do you prefer to keep it sparkling? or you like it to show its battle scars?

Very informative video, thanks
Glad it was helpful!
We bought the exact model. Our local Scheels offered free delivery and setup
Incredible!!! You are gonna LOVE it!
Just out of curiosity, did this video have something to do with that decision?
@Impossibly Kosher yes and we had a 401k loan plus I've been wanting to upgrade. LSG looked great but s/h was $800
Love it! Happy I was able to help :)

Hey! It is not hard, i have an ash vac which I use to vacuum all the ash. Done in 30 seconds :)
How solid are these yoders I am looking at this or a recteq! Do these smoke well in the snow and do they hold temp well
100% Yoder

Very good at holding temps and smoke incredibly well in all temps.
Definitely recommend! It’s a different level!

I don't have any bumpers because it never touches the edge of the cooking chamber.

Can a 30lb turkey fit in the ys 640s?
Great question!! I’d measure it and compare to their specs. For sure you’d need to take the top rack out.
Personally don’t think it would be an issue.
Awesome review!!
Thanks!
Thank you
Nice video! Thanks

11:24 seasonal griller's 🙄, no such thing as "grilling season".
When it comes to buying bbq supplies there is ;)
I continue to say to get pellets.

"just dump whats in the firebox on the side of the chamber like I did in this video" Did I miss this part?
Sorry about that! I probably said it but didn’t show it fully.
