My top five before I watched this 1. Ness, come on he's Ness, he's OP, especially after Magicant, his only problem is his speed 2. Lucas, he is very strong and his psychic is super useful, PK Love is super op compared to Rockin in Earthbound 3. Ana, her psychic should literally be nerfed 4. Teddy, he's is very strong and when you get him but he doesn't stay in the party for long 5. Paula, *cough cough* PK Freeze is broken in Earthbound
I always thought the elemental PSI abilities were better in Mother 3 for their special charateristics like solidifying, burning, etc, so I said Kumatora in my list. I also said Jeff over Teddy, myself.
@@spaghettiwarrior1573 nah he doesn’t have psi. Definitely top 5, but I’d say Ninten having almost as good of stats + gamechanging PSI solidifies teddy as the second best in mother 1.
In my opinion, Flint is the best character AND party member. Power Smash is literally the strongest attack in the game (barring PK Ground, as it deals percentage-based damage). I'm serious, level up every party member to lvl 99 with the Debug Room and try their strongest attacks. Power Smash can deal 1500 damage or even more.
Personally I would have put Ana on here, her defensive stats and attack may be god awful, but she has the best offensive PSI in the series. You may not get most of them, but you're still likely to get PK Freeze Gamma and PK Beam Beta. Her healing is also debatably better than Ninten's since Ninten is likely to not get any until the very end of the game.
I was actually considering including her but I didn’t want to include two party members I had previously called the worst. In hindsight, it’s a stupid reason, but still.
She also has PSI Magnet which Ninten doesn't have, so at that point you basically have infinite healing, as long as the enemies have PSI and don't screw you up while you're busy PSI Magnetting them
Ana's a perfect glass cannon. She incredibly extremized, carrying OHKO moves and full screen wipes, but she also instantly dies if the enemy so much as breathes in her direction. For most of the game, she's a liability honestly, but once you unlock her full moveset, she trivializes every fight. If this list is considering peak performance, Ana is hands down one of the most busted units in the series (as long as you can protect her).
I think of Kumatora as a combination of Paula and Poo. She has the same PSI as both of them and she got trained in her PSI abilities. Also, she is royalty.
I love the Lloid/Jeff/Duster/Boney niche in RPGs. They're comparable to the Chemists in Final Fantasy Tactics. They get mediocre stat growths overall, but items are so powerful and overlooked in JRPGs where you have cheap full heals in every town/after every encounter. Jeff/Lloid/Duster get some exclusive items, while Boney has very high speed letting him work well as an emergency medic. (Incidentally, Chemists in FFT have a built in ability to throw items, using them at range, and they can equip guns, accurate ranged weapons that can't shoot around cover which lets them do some chip damage. They can also learn how to find items on the ground. Sure, they work best as a subclass, but they are very practical.)
One thing that's really big: offensive/defensive PSI is completely useless in Earthbound, while they are very useful in Mother 3. So I wouldn't even consider Offense/Defense Up to be a factor in Earthbound since there's nowhere you'd really need it.
I doubt it has anything to do with his Guts stat, since Poo can cause SMAAAASH!! attacks despite having the worst Guts of the four party members. I’m pretty sure I mentioned this in the video, but they might have deliberately prevented Jeff from being able to deal critical hits to balance out his inability to miss, though it’s never been confirmed if this is true. (Plus, in Mother 1+2, Jeff actually can SMAAAAASH!! attack enemies, so it might have been some sort of glitch)

mother has stats that you can roll to get a constant: you can roll 0-3. based on your constant, it will determine how high a stat will go up. the formula used is roll+constant/2=stat up rounded down. ninten's constant for all stats is 4, so he will either go up 2 (if you roll a 0 or 1) or 3 (if you roll a 2 or 3). so if you get a 3 on all stats each level, ninten has every stat maxed at 255. therefore ninten is a god.

Yes, Ness has more HP and PP naturally, but that's it. That's all he has over Lucas. Lucas naturally is more defensive, has more physical power, FAR more PSI power, and he's faster. This means Ness will always do less and take more damage than Lucas from the start. Lucas's HP also scrolls a lot slower. That's total STAT-wise, focusing on damage specifically, Ness is SEVERELY outclassed. I know, you're thinking I'm wrong, but remember, Lucas naturally has more attack, and can hit 16 TIMES in ONE turn, and you'd better believe he's landing it EVERY time at level 99. We're talking about natural damage higher than a PK Love Gamma. This alone saves Lucas a TON on PP- everyone assumes he has to use it, he doesn't. Ness, on the other hand, has no choice to use PSI to get substantial damage off on Lucas to force him to heal. That's physically, psychically Lucas's PSI is more cost-effective than Ness, and does more consistent damage. Ness has to hit the far upper part of his range nearly every time to beat him out damage-wise. Neither can be killed easily, though, that's a problem for BOTH of them. Neither will win if they're just straight up attacking each other. The difference is Lucas can set up, and Ness can't do anything about it. Lucas also has better shields, that last for three turns unlike Ness's, to protect him as sets up. Once he does, it's over, there's nothing Ness can do. The only chance Ness really has to beat Lucas in a drawn-out fight is using PK Flash. He can hinder him with Hypnosis and Paralysis, but it won't help kill unless Lucas's HP is low. It's just a question of how fast Ness can land a OHKO with a PK Flash to kill Lucas before he sets up and destroys him.
@@alizachaos6395 pk love always dose the same damage but it's pp cost is terrible also a 16 bit combo takes a ton of skill to do Also saying that Lucas is better due to his hp rolling down slower make him better is strange statement due to having every party member in mother 3 rolling down the same and him being the slowest out of them is terrible because what is the point of reviving your party members but die before you can do that because your party members who are dying have more hp than lucas and the only solution is to have kumatora to be your carry instead of Lucas also shields and counters don't work in most cases for some reason and that makes them useless. But in earthbound you just don't use shields and that game was a lot easier also if you numb Lucas you can force him to use up all his pp because he dose not have enough pp to sustain himself for like 5 pk loves
@@aheadsounds2522 You're thinking as if Ness and Lucas are being controlled by two humans. If the two characters themselves fought, level 99, maximum skill, maximum strategy, what I described is what would go down. It's JUST Lucas vs Ness, no other party members. And the fact that Lucas's meter scrolls slower IS better, it gives him more time to act across multiple turns than Ness, but he's not better by this sole fact. Shields do work, and Lucas at level 99 WOULD be landing 16 hits every single time. Even as a person playing, they're not that hard.
Without a doubt, Lucas is the best party member. But Ness is definitely the most op character in the series if we look at power scaling. By the end of mother 3, Lucas and Co. can defeat some powerful robots and animal hybrids (chimeras). Potentially, some of these rivaling some minions of giygas. By the end of Mother 2, Ness and Co. can defeat a galaxy destroying being who's existence tears at reality. And the values of the damage dealt and given, as well as the values of the stats must be different. Where as a single point towards a stat in earthbound could be something like 5 points in mother 3 (probably not 5, but was making an example).
I dont know about the flying man.But i have played mother 3.so i think we can all agree that wess is atleast one of the best temporary charathers in the game or even the complete series
@@weirdomcfreak I did one playthrough with a 5th party member which is a npc that joins your party out of the two fassad seem more useful as he did constant damage than wess as wess wasted turns on duster and kumatora but thats just me with my luck. but having wess is still not as bad he can be fine to keep as he can also throw dusters socks to make enemies unable to attack

we all know that ninten goes from nintendo that ness is a word game by snes and that lucas ...... is it claus from a novel from a book called claus and lucas or was it lucas and claus?
imo Top 5 should be: 1. Ness 2. Lucas 3. Ana 4. Ninten 5. Paula / Jeff Ness is super reliable all game and is broken as hell after the sanctuary boost, Lucas is comparable to pre-sanctuary Ness but with more PP and better PSI, Ana has the best set of PSI in the series (could be above Lucas), Ninten is as about as reliable as pre-sanctuary Ness and he doesn't even need offensive PSI since he can truck through the game with regular attacks, and I tied Paula and Jeff because they both have a really broken tool they can use; Paula has access to PSI Shield which makes enemy PSI completely useless (on top of a pretty strong early game), and Jeff has the Big and Multi Bottle Rockets which can oneshot most bosses.
Yea jeff is gimmicky and that’s why I love him he can big damage a single target with bottle rockets area with bazooka raise the party’s defense with the shower
You forgot about the lowest rated mother game ever… mother 1+2. In that version, Jeff IS able to land SMAAAASH!! attacks, making him way better than any other character
I dont think Ninten should be anywhere near the worst list tbh. I think he's probably the most useful character in the game, specifically because he has the ability to guarantee escaping a battle, meaning you have to deal with fewer BS random encounters. I dont think mount Itoi would be half as bearable without that ability.

@@alizachaos6395 pk love always dose the same damage but it's pp cost is terrible also a 16 bit combo takes a ton of skill to do
Also saying that Lucas is better due to his hp rolling down slower make him better is strange statement due to having every party member in mother 3 rolling down the same and him being the slowest out of them is terrible because what is the point of reviving your party members but die before you can do that because your party members who are dying have more hp than lucas and the only solution is to have kumatora to be your carry instead of Lucas also shields and counters don't work in most cases for some reason and that makes them useless. But in earthbound you just don't use shields and that game was a lot easier also if you numb Lucas you can force him to use up all his pp because he dose not have enough pp to sustain himself for like 5 pk

Where as a single point towards a stat in earthbound could be something like 5 points in mother 3 (probably not 5, but was making an example).
on weapons that you "shoot", its impossible to smash, thats a fact that should be widely known
You deserve more vieeeeeeeeewwwwwws
Think about this for a second, if Multi Bottle Rockets are THAT strong then just imagine how powerful Big Multi Bottle Rockets are if they existed 😳
After mother 3 Jeff made one of those and now all of Nintendo is so scared of Jeff that they will never touch the mother series again
Now imagine Dozen Bottle Rockets, and Big Dozen Bottle Rockets
I dont know about the flying man.But i have played mother 3.so i think we can all agree that wess is atleast one of the best temporary charathers in the game or even the complete series
I perfer fassad since wess has more chances to to argue with duster and kumatora plus fassad bombs are more powerful
@@ShiftyGuy777 Fassad is it really that good?,It may seem like it is good..but maybe it is because salsa is bad
Poo should have had a role more like teddy, heavy hitter and tanky
Thais ness
Yes Lucas is the top!
Nintens buff moves are incredibly op he boosts the absolute dog shit out of his offense stat
I think we forget the fact that Ana’s psi fire 1 shots many enemies
8:31 however, if you give him the rabbits foot, that disadvantage becomes nonexistent
My best are
5.Ness
4.Lucas
3.Poo
2.Duster(I love my boy)
1.Kumatora(because she is op). The reason for Kumatora is Pk Ground. That’s all I need to say
Agreeable
You forgot Picky, he is so powerful with 1 damage per attack, and his magic chant ITS SO POWERFUL THE GAME OVERFLOES IT TO 0 (I stole the last part of the comment from another person)
We all know picky is the best lmao
People make jokes about characters like Ness and Lucas not having the special or elemental PK attacks and only heal
Yet Ness and Lucas have unique PK abilities that are literally stronger than the elemental PK attacks
Seriously PK love can become stronger than PK starstorm
King, bubble monkey, salsa, wess, and Claus
You should do temporary party members. That'd be people like Dungeon Man and Wess
And salsa?
I know this is controversial but...
Why no make a video on who's the strongest main character in the mother series?
Because Ness is the most op protagonist on the trilogy based on stats/hp/pp
I prefer Lucas tho, he is cute, a really good protagonist and PK Love don't give me a headache like PSI Rockin'
The reason I like teddy is because he can wield the samerai sword
I’m not saying your list is wrong but I think fassad should be number 3
Only because he can eat your food, tase you and throw rockets
But then again if you give him psi he is okey but not great
You should do worst and best temporary party members.
we all know that ninten goes from nintendo that ness is a word game by snes and that lucas ...... is it claus from a novel from a book called claus and lucas or was it lucas and claus?
guys I found the name of the novel it's called the great notebook
7:20 did you call Ness a her.
No, I said “Even people who don’t know of EarthBound know who he is”.
@@ReeseyPuffy oh sorry for that
Oh no, it’s fine! To be fair, I do slur my speech a bit and this video is perfect evidence of that.
I'd put Ness over Lucas just because he's an absolute wall. Giygas stood absolutely no chance against Ness in my playthrough.
Yay more mother / earthbound
200th subscriber:)
What about in the Giggys battle?
imo Top 5 should be:
1. Ness
2. Lucas
3. Ana
4. Ninten
5. Paula / Jeff
Ness is super reliable all game and is broken as hell after the sanctuary boost, Lucas is comparable to pre-sanctuary Ness but with more PP and better PSI, Ana has the best set of PSI in the series (could be above Lucas), Ninten is as about as reliable as pre-sanctuary Ness and he doesn't even need offensive PSI since he can truck through the game with regular attacks, and I tied Paula and Jeff because they both have a really broken tool they can use; Paula has access to PSI Shield which makes enemy PSI completely useless (on top of a pretty strong early game), and Jeff has the Big and Multi Bottle Rockets which can oneshot most bosses.
The most op earthbound party member is
Elmo
Yea jeff is gimmicky and that’s why I love him he can big damage a single target with bottle rockets area with bazooka raise the party’s defense with the shower
You forgot about the lowest rated mother game ever… mother 1+2. In that version, Jeff IS able to land SMAAAASH!! attacks, making him way better than any other character
Paula doesn’t make the list??
yay kumatora is at number 3
at 5:51
I dont think Ninten should be anywhere near the worst list tbh.
I think he's probably the most useful character in the game, specifically because he has the ability to guarantee escaping a battle, meaning you have to deal with fewer BS random encounters.
I dont think mount Itoi would be half as bearable without that ability.
I actually wanted to say poo, but I was letting my bias get in the way. No, seriously.
I'd liken Lucas and Ness to a paladin class.
When you show the white text messages they show up and dissapear so fast so if you want us to read it id say slow it down so you dont have to pquse to read it, and also you speak fast and i have a hqrd time hhearing you at some parts, but you are good in fluency itw your pacing, but this vid is kindq old so if you made improvement s im proud of you from one dude on the internet to another
Paula single handedly took down the final boss though
sorry but jesus i cant understand a word you say (or most of the things you say) bcs of how low the video's volume is even when both my pc's and youtube's volume is at max, so please try to remake this video when you get a better mic (if thats the problem) if you will get one
What is ninentiu ness
Paula can't use psi heal tho...
I think I meant to say PSI Shield if that’s what you were talking about.
Best party member is bubble monkey
Its king
But funny part is ness is the strongest party member at like powerful
Duster carries in mother 3
Number 1 paula
ness to me is like cecil
F l y i n g m e n
Bubble monkey is the best party member
This post was made by bubble monkey gang 🫧🐒
BlueNinten is stronger than normal Ninten
My gamer girl energy is enough to outclass any ninten
Buzz Buzz…….
You sade Pauala as he
Yeah don't you know Paul is a trans king
