Covfefe with Carlito had me choke on my coffee 😅
Hahaha sorry!
This is one of two youtube videos i wait on each week. You seem very genuine and this series is very personal. I look forward to another year’s worth!
Thank you very much!
Carl if you ever make it back to Montana I’d love to give you a tour of the SIMMs fishing facility here in Bozeman. I cut/ sew Goretex for waders and can walk you through the process of how they are made!
Count me in! I'll definitely be back, its a beautiful state.
This morning I literally sang Coffee with Carl that's how excited I am every Wednesday morning for this segment
Carl’s flannel round up - the most wonderful time of the year! So I’m really interested in your take on the Proper Cloth shirt. I have several of their MTM dress shirts - and yeah, the brass stays are clutch! - but never considered them for casual shirts. Tough to beat Carhartt flannels for the price. But anyway, what’s really interesting about the Proper Cloth flannel is that you can have one made up any way you want - western pockets and snaps, single pocket and button down collar, spread collar, whatever. Might be worth a look if the fabric is nice.
Great job on the video you got some nice looking ones
Got my Thursday challengers, great for the money, for anyone else that is curious, only a few minor complaints. The tongue isn't fully gusseted, theres two small holes at the base of the tongue. The last complaint is that i thought a boot like this would come with a kiltie of some kind. Overall great boots, i think they are well worth it. They have some great leather options too.
Hey man, how do they fit, I’m waiting on mine I believe I got the wrong size
I wear a 13 in sneakers and i got the challengers in 12.5 and they fit great. My brannock measurement is 11.5 3E, so when get standard width boots i size up
@@nrvanderpoel76 I’m an 11-11.5 in some boots, I have no idea why I got a 10.5 I should’ve gone with an 11. I ended up getting the whiskey predator, also should’ve gone with tosconello ones
I think i got the stone rambler. Its a really nice leather without any surface finishing so you can see all the scars on the leather
Thank you for checking these out and letting us know!
I just ordered an Atlas in sage green from The Rite Stuff. I can honestly say I've never been so excited about a shirt. Looking forward to what you have to say about each of those flannels! Keep up the great work! You're a saint for doing all the hard work for us! Oh yeah and about dixxon, i have one and i would gladly spend the exta $30 on a vermont flannel! The only think i like about dixxon is the amount of colors they have.
Another great roundup! I was excited to see Proper Cloth made it, as I got one from them last year and love it. You can choose a different pocket style too!
Great video, Carl. Any plans or would you be willing to do a flannel update video too? Would be cool to see which ones (from prior videos) you wear the most and enjoy.
Absolutely!
Updates would be cool and to see what items you have worn the most and how they have held up and aged.
Any items that didn’t age well and surprised you?
Not workwear or workwearesque but I recently got a wool corduroy sport coat from Samuelson for 50 bucks. Looked up the brand later and found they retail for over a grand which is kinda nuts. Never thought a sport coat could be comfortable as a chore coat or barn coat but I was wrong.
Great selection of flannels !!!
Glad you like them!
Looking forward to your take on the fit of the Dixxon. Bought one last year and wore it twice. The arm holes were cut weird - the sleeves weren't tight - but it felt like where the sleeves join the body was high (?) which made it ride into my armpits and it was really uncomfortable. Quality ok - but fit I hated. Proper cloth - crazy good. I ordered a custom oxford when the company first started that is still one of my favorites. Enjoy and thanks for the great content
🎉🎉🎉
Gotta say I like a spear point collar. That colour on the rite stuff flannel is perfect. Certainly gets my vote.
Can we can a flannel review from the previous year on CWC or on your other channel. I appreciate your initial reviews but would be interested in knowing how stuff wore through the year.
I just received my low twist from proper cloth like 2 weeks ago. Definitely wash 2-3 times before judging the fabric and fit, mine changed pretty substantially (in a good way)
Thanks for sharing!!
Hello! I live in CT, love watching your videos! Never miss one. Love your page as well. Question: If I ever see you around can I stop you and say hello and take a picture? I am a BIG Fan of your channel.❤🙏🏽❤️👍🏽👍🏽
As long as you're not wearing loafers!
I used to back in the days! I don’t anymore🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣! I might be wearing flannels and moc boots😂
Love watching your videos while working on illustrations. I definitely want to check out some of those vintage style flannels!
How cool! Where can I see your work?
I think Caswell missed a golden opportunity to add some kind of pearl accent on the boot so you could literally have a pearls before swine situation happening on your feet. That’s a super interesting leather and it’s pretty doggone intriguing. Alas, I have fairly recently added two new pairs of boots to my rotation (Indigo Thursday Vanguard and a pair of the Walnut Jim Green Numzaan) so I won’t be getting them. I liked the Proper Cloth flannel a lot, that simpler style, high quality design is right up my alley.
I'm not sure if you've featured them before, but outerknown's blanket shirt is a great flannel (with a ton of diverse options for colors) at a good mid price point ($168 normally and a couple of sales per year at $118)
Nice vid, thanks! Nobody seems to review Sugar Cane flannels, they have amazing patterns and have the Japanese low twist yarn died thing down, super comfortable and great fit for 'western' body types, while being in the lower price range for high quality flannel shirts. I buy them used and once n a while from Hinoya, incredible bargain when ordered this way direct from Japan.
Anybody else wanna hear carl rock out on the drums??
Guitar player here. Would love to hear about your Dad’s old guitars!
Thanks for reminding me that Freenote Cloth is an American made option for jackets. I can't do Japanese stuff because I am very unsmall. Too bad. It reminds me of when I lived in Germany and couldn't find any shoes ever in size 13. Haha.
Glad I could help!
I cant wait for the waxed canvas video
Coming soon! We had some last minute stragglers
How does Grayers stack up in the flannel world? I know they're not Ironheart level or anything like that. They just look reasonably priced with decent quality. I just never hear anyone talk about them? Maybe there's a reason for that?
Carl id be curious to hear your opinions on the filson Alaskan guide shirt. Is it still the classic it once was?
Next year check out Adirondack field they are a local shop here in ny all American made and I love their flannels
Good to know!
I am glad I am bigger build and fit. Cause I would be buying more expensive shirts. Most of these only come in small sizes. Proper Cloth does look interesting. The have bigger sizes, but now size chart. They do have a lot of different types of shirts. I would be interested in you maybe doing a shirt-jack and vet type of video as well. I am guessing that Dixxon will be at the bottom of your ranking. Their shirt's don't look very appealing. Looking forward to new video's...
I picked up the Freenote cloth jacket from Franklin and Poe. The jacket lives up to the hype.
Its a beaut' Clark!
Check the stitching on shirts from jeans brands. I have a shirt (Levis?) made from a beautiful, unique flannel in pinks and browns-- and the stitching thread looks like it's made from Kleenex.
What is the button-up shirt you're wearing? I dig those riveted pockets.
Patagonia Workwear fleece lined shirt jac. I really dig it!
ive gotten a few dress shirts from proper cloth, they worked with me getting the sizing right, making the same shirt 3 times, and after getting fit down the other two were pretty good. maybe ill check out a flannel from them... might wait and see if they do a black friday sale :)
I must say, I was VERY impressed with them. Plus they're ~$50 cheaper than some of the others!
Needed to include Vermont flannel
They were in last years video.
No Heatstraps flannel?
Good morning!
Good morning!
Have you done wool flannel? I don’t see the value in cotton flannel since it’s horrible at regulating temperature
Some wool flannels, but they're somewhat rare. I agree, I'd take wool over cotton anytime!
Damn...a Dixxon. Gonna get ripped to shreds is my guess without having ever touched one myself.
Crazy that it's been nearly a year already...
Time's fun when you're having flies!
That Ginew reminds me of an old prison shirt.
I used it to escape through a tunnel I dug behind a Farrah Fawcett poster.
I like those flannels but too expensive for me, the cheaper ones which are the ones I can afford just won’t last or quite a bit less quality. I do have some cheap ones that feel great but if the expensive ones cut the price in half I’d get one or two
Yeah I agree, and sometimes the best thing is finding what you like and then seeking it out second hand. I have the term "Indigofera Fargo" set on my ebay alerts.
Wait. You don't use your locker loop?
Man, I never have! Part that might be laziness, but I either hang them on a hanger or kinda flop them over the back of a chair.
If only you had a knife to help open those bags.
Rock n Roll hadn't really been INVENTED yet in the 40s, tho.
I could talk about flannel shirts in my garage, but don't have a camera in there...
I got Pendleton WOOL shirts for less cost than these cotton ones, but don't know if they are all real wool anymore. The Bean "wool" field ones are some poly-blend now or something for about $150? I still can find some flannel for less than $50 but don't know how well they hold up until washed a few times, so still too hot for that here now.
If suede instead "microsuede" then hafta dry clean?
I bought Wrangler flannels before and they were only $14 on sale from Boot Barn or something and they shrink and look horrible after one wash then. Don't know if still the same material now.
I didn't know BOOT companies were all making shirts now. If I didn't already have 800 flannel shirts, I might be more curious whose are better / best.
If anyone needed less of a reason to buy from Filson I’d like to share my recent experience. Purchased a Filson Sidnall vest and it’s been 3 weeks since they charged me without any shipping notification or update.
In my book a real flannel is made of wool. $350 for a cotton shirt is ridiculous. If it was wool then I can see that kind of price.
Can I borrow this book?
