    I'm going to grow carrots when it cools down. And we'll probably do this. I'm going to grow the kaleidoscope blend. That's what the package is called.
    So today my parents were trying to make some kind of green tomato sauce. And mother was blanching the tomatoes to get the skins off. And it was taking way longer than it would normally take a ripe tomato to get the Skins to start peeling. So dad being mr. Smarty pants that he is, he peeled them all using a potato peeler.
    😲 and it worked. How smart is that?

    How long would you say they take to freeze, while on the cookie sheet?
    I followed your steps exactly. The carrots taste soooo good after blanching them, I can't believe it! (This is my first time blanching anything, lol, and then freezing so they don't go to waste in the fridge!)
    So they just went into the freezer, on parchment paper, on a cookie sheet, and I'm just curious how long they might need to set before putting them into the zip lock bag?
    Thanks for this video!! 😊💜

    • @beesandseeds
      @beesandseeds  6 месяцев назад

      You’re welcome! It depends on how big the pieces are. If small, check after an hour. They don’t need to be frozen solid before bagging them. They need to be firm so they don’t stick together

    • @beesandseeds

      You don’t have to add it. It adds flavor and my
      Understanding is it also helps to retain color, texture, and nutrition.

    I recently froze zucchini and squash. I didn't think about freezing carrots. I can only eat 1/2-1 cup at a time, in fact I'm on a 98% liquid diet. I definitely don't want to lose the nutritional value. However if they turn mushy after cooking that is fine by me. I cook the zucchini abd squash in the oven. I think ill add carrots next time. I have been making alot of homemade 🥒🥕🍎 juice.

    • @beesandseeds
      @beesandseeds  Год назад

      I’ve never timed it but maybe an hour? It’s just long enough so they’re frozen enough that they won’t stick together when bagged up.

    Do you blanch bell peppers when or if you freeze them?

    • @beesandseeds
      @beesandseeds  2 года назад

      I don’t! We don’t grow a lot of peppers at once. I grow them year round (I dig up and overwinter a few plants) so if I have more than I can use fresh. I just chop them and freeze them knowing that I’ll be using them in a few weeks. If you’re planning to freeze enough for a year, I would blanch 2-3 minutes depending on how large the pieces are before freezing.

    How long for blanching ?

    • @beesandseeds
      @beesandseeds  Год назад +1

      It depends. Smaller the pieces, the shorter the time. 2-5 minutes. When I slice or shred them them- 2 minutes. If there’re bigger chunks 3 minutes. Small whole carrots 5 minutes. I usually just do 2-3 minutes.

    Why not just blanch and entire carrot? Why slice them?

    • @beesandseeds
      @beesandseeds  11 месяцев назад

      I suppose you could. You’d need to blanch them longer. I like to prepare them how I’m going to use them so I dont have to thaw and chop later. I don’t defrost to use but just dump the amounts I want directly into recipe. I slice dice or shred them usually.
