it amazes me how Chuck was able to come up with soo many unique riffs and bridge parts that completely changes up from the main riffs.....and some things are simple but awesome sounding. Like the part right @ 0:55 seconds its simple but sounds badass!! i just dont understand how someone who was basically self taught (like myself) but was coming up with all this incredible stuff that noone else was really doing. and im not sure the technical term for it, but i love those riffs where Chuck uses the Low E string as like a bassline while playing something else on the 2nd string like in the beginning breakdown of "Spirit Crusher" or the chorus for Misanthrope...he does it in alot of other songs too i just cant think of them off the top of my head but you dont see that with alot of the other O.S.D.M. bands

Its called a pedal point riff. They're very simple but often effective. Very easy to over use them though.
