The hotel shown at the beginning is the Coronado, it was used in Marylin Monroe's "Some Like it Hot", Peter O'Toole's 'The Stunt Man', and other movies.
It's been ten years since I last watched this sketch and I still remember it every time I hear about bidets. I think this was the first time I had even heard about them at all.
Notice how the three of them stand still for the majority of the skit, and a lot of the humor comes from the dialog and facial expressions. Brilliant! Miss this era of SNL.
Japan has a bidet device in the actual toilet. Also music, heating, a scrubbing device, translator, voice command and a chess set. They have very complicated toilets.
I lived with Italians at university.. one of them told me he had a friend come to stay, and he washed his ass in the sink because he couldn't find the bidet! Honestly I find weird gaps between cultures like that really curious and interesting. I wonder when such differences first started!?
In 45 years, I’ve come across maybe 10 bidets in the UK, mainly in hotels and luxury homes built in the late ‘70s/early ‘80s, when they were somewhat trendy. I’m thinking of buying a bidet attachment for my toilet.

I remember watching this skit with an exgf and we were laughing our asses off at how stupid this was. A few months later we were watching a horror movie and the people in the movie found an old tomb and started to open it. And i said "what the hell is in there?" and she says "imagine it was a bideeet!" I nearly passed out laughing.

Yes as an Italian living in a country with no bidets…. The first years I was completely annoyed then I had to have one installed at my place and have all the guests asks what is for I say is to wash my feet
My grandmother thought that it was a urinal for when you're wearing a long dress. The image of grandma squatting over the bidet in he formal has haunted me ever since.

The whole joke is that they have an abnormal obsession with bidets 😃 (either that or they feel proud that they know the word bidet and want to flex by using it as much as possible lol)
Because in America they don't have bidets as commonly as we do, therefore in this skit they went the extra mile in imagining what sorts of ends could the bidet serve and put these two using it for (alledgely) dangerous kinky stuff
I know this is very old, but this is genius! At no time is it mentioned what they plan to do in our around the bidet! The escalation to asking about the nearest hospital was especially hillarious.
When I was 18 I got my first apartment and installed a bidet. I told guests they had to twist the dial before flushing or no water would come down. They fell for it 100% of the time.
Why? Honestly you can do the same thing in the bath tub, or at least, the correct use of the bidet, that stuff can be done in the bath tub...I don't know about the other things...
@@georgettebirmelin1210 in the bath tub you need to remove all your clothes at least from the waist down and sit precariously. Many times a day! On a bidet you just lower your pants and underwear and sit comfortably anytime, many times a day and always keep clean

@@deirdremorris9234 Then I'd need to wash the washcloth, no? I don't think my "staff" would appreciate having to handle a pile of damp shitty washcloths in with the laundry. The bidet removes most of the poopage, and the toilet paper gets the rest. Sometimes I have to re-bidet for a particularly muddy mudd-butt, but the bidet/tp combo works just fine.

When I was 18 I got my first apartment and installed a bidet. I told guests they had to twist the dial before flushing or no water would come down. They fell for it 100% of the time.

Why? Honestly you can do the same thing in the bath tub, or at least, the correct use of the bidet, that stuff can be done in the bath tub...I don't know about the other things...
@@georgettebirmelin1210 in the bath tub you need to remove all your clothes at least from the waist down and sit precariously. Many times a day! On a bidet you just lower your pants and underwear and sit comfortably anytime, many times a day and always keep clean

@@deirdremorris9234 Then I'd need to wash the washcloth, no? I don't think my "staff" would appreciate having to handle a pile of damp shitty washcloths in with the laundry. The bidet removes most of the poopage, and the toilet paper gets the rest. Sometimes I have to re-bidet for a particularly muddy mudd-butt, but the bidet/tp combo works just fine.
