I saw Randy play in high school. The first time my school played DuPont, he was also doing kick returns. Dude returned the opening kickoff the entire length of the field. The play was flagged, and they decided to re-kick… Dude did it again. He never really looked like he was running hard.

In high school him & his friends jumped a kid and beat him so bad the boy had brain damage and was never the same. He’s the most famous person from our area and there isn’t even a sign commemorating him. He would come back around and treat everyone like shit and refuse to speak to his own people. Then he opened a juice bar and some other business and they all shut down cuz no one would go spend money there. He handed out turkeys one time and that’s all he did for his community, so we don’t fck with him. In the beginning he kind of acted like he was ashamed of his home town. He’s probably a different now but he was not a “good person” back in the day.

Troy led Marshall to a div.2 natilonal championship. Randy didn't.
Patriots training camp practices were run on 2 side by side fields. When the big clock hit zero, a horn sounded at the end of a segment, most players had to get to the next practice group on the caddy-corner field. Thus, players ran to those areas. By some fans, Randy was considered lazy, because he never ran. Instead, he noted where he needed to be and would walk there, well ahead of everyone else. Work smarter, not harder. Randy's football IQ is off the charts ... same with Brady, which is why they meshed from the first practice.

There were a lot of great individual moments of reflection at Tom's Patriot's HOF night. But, to me the one that stood out alone, was the reception Randy received from the crowd. Of all the players that put it on the line for the Patriots during the 2 decade span of time from 2001-2020, he was the one guy that elevated the entire team to the same degree as Tom did. For this single player not to have ever experienced any of the championship success the countless other players got to enjoy, it was wonderful that the crowd collectively displayed their love for him.

I'll never forget my hilarious run-in with Randy in a convenience store here in Minnesota back in (roughly) 1999. I was behind him in the checkout line and he was trying to buy a pack of cigars. The kid behind the counter looked like he was 12 years old and asked to see Moss's ID (keep in mind that Randy was all of 6'4" and was wearing a Vikings hat). Moss got annoyed because he didn't have his ID on him and the kid absolutely wouldn't sell to him. Randy said something like "what do you mean you need to see my ID? Let me see YOUR ID!". The kid was so nervous he didn't say anything back. Moss left without the cigars. I then had to tell the poor kid that he just carded Randy Moss 😂☠

Randy Moss and Calvin Johnson. Two best wide outs in history in my opinion. Jerry Rice can be my slot receiver.

Randy probably would have went to a bigger school, but I think he got into a fight in a bowling alley...lol. True story.

    • @damonmoorepage
      @damonmoorepage Месяц назад +2

The fight in the bowling alley was Allen Iverson.
My recollection is that Moss was involved in a fight the caused him to be unable to attend Norte Dame after he had signed a letter of intent to go to ND. He went to Florida State but had an off-the-field issue that led to his dismissal.
I am going to guess that Marshall was chosen after he left Florida State because Marshall was close to home and did not require him to sit out a year before he could play.

What’s crazier than Moss’s 23 TDs in 16 games is that Jerry rice had 22 in 12 games.
Both impressive but Jerry’s is much more insane than moss’s.

Rice holds all the career records there's no arguing that, Moss & at least 5-6 other Wr's in recent years are far more physically gifted than Jerry & I mean far more. Rice also had the luxury of not one but two HOF Qb's throwing to him. Rice is a great example of working hard to offset their lack of natural talent you know the old verbage: “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard”.
Last point he also was incredibly lucky with injuries missing minimal time and also not have shot body parts from injuries ( ie. Knees blown out, back/ neck, & shoulder )

Had to erase my browser history after searching for your podcast. Now I have to explain to the wife why I have no history still a lot better than explaining why I was searching for dudes on dudes. Did copilot come up with that too gronk?
So Randy Moss single handedly spoiled my Montana grizzlies chance at a National Championship. We had a great team, blew out most everyone in the playoffs. What in the hell was the GOAT WR doing at Marshall? The guy was unstoppable!

23 TDs over 16 games by Randy Moss is the record, but in the strike shortened 1987 Season with only 12 GAMES played, Jerry Rice had 22 TOUCHDOWNS!!! That is the Real GOAT WR Season from the Real GOAT!

As a patriots fan the fact that Tom has essentially “big timed” Jules by not coming on the podcast has made Julian my favorite patriot. Jules and Tom were always my two favorites but obviously Tom was the guy, but Tom took the whole year off last year and hasn’t come and done the show and that’s disappointing. But the fact that Gronk is now doing a show with Jules is so dope as a life long pats fan who grew up watching all the teams since 2000
