The Turtle is the true heir to the SKX's throne. The King Turtle just takes things to an even greater level. I love my Samurais too it must be said. Nice review.

In the process of completing the "3 Kings ". Got the King Samurai PADI edition on black rubber strap, King Turtle black face JDM on bracelet and next is the blue King Sumo on bracelet
I have the Dark Manta King Turtle, and i cannot stress how much i enjoy it. dial is gorgeous, i love the Save The Ocean initiative, and it’s very well built for the price point. i paid 450 at a local authorized seiko retailer (they marked it down because i told them about the gray market deals hovering slightly below 400).
Cosign! I have the JDM regular blue manta King turtle. I threw on a strapcode angus jubilee and its incredibly beautiful. Impressed alot of swiss watch dudes at the office
I have the original manta ray dial version and i was so excited when it arrived in the mail. Im not a huge dive watch fan, and i don't wear the king turtle all the time but whenever i pop it on i fall in love again 🐢
Great review Jory, I have this model, it is actually the SPRE05, the SPRE03 is the black dial version. Also, you forgot to add that the bezel insert is ceramic. It is my new favorite and I wear it more than my Rolex Sub.
I agree - I have 2 - the black and green grenades. Both bezels fine, both cyclops fine. Great price. Love them. The only reason I don't wear them every day is because I also love my Seiko Arnie......
Perfect timing. Sold mine 2 weeks ago! Only owned it a week. It’s a great watch but doesn’t compare to the Willard reissues (nor should it for the price) so I ended up moving it on.
I had the opposite reaction.sold my SPB153 green dialed Willard and picked up my Grenade King turtle 🐢. feels more substantial and have always liked a nice cushion case diver Ala my 6309/6306.the 6R35 powered Willard has a slimmed down cushion case and does not Rep the 6105-8xxx from the 70,s.to get that you would need the 8L35 drivin SLA example.

If we're talking about Turtles I gotta give a shout out to the sbdy015 (the jdm version of the srp777 with the kanji date wheel). The lack of sapphire glass is unfortunate but as it's intended to be a diver / tool watch, I think the ceramic bezel and cyclops lens really throws off the vibe of the piece. The sbdy015 is such a great piece, can't say enough about it. Go buy one

Yeah this one rules. Been thinking about it for a while. Love the turtle family in general and they wear smaller than the case diameter would lead you to believe. The dial is insane and it’s a tank.
I own this watch and love it. You’re right about the crown, every time I set it, it feels like I’m going to cross thread it. Also, I hated the magnifier but it wasn’t hard to remove it and it completely changed the watch (for the better) IMO
I just ordered one from Seiko yesterday, 600.00. Sold my 3 Rolex's and Deep Blue watches and some Vostok Europe, I had a collection, now Seiko is getting my business, this color caught my eye, had to have it.

Dear time teller - I must confess - I am a serial watch flipper - but the one watch I have kept the longest? - my SKX007J1 - I just can’t bear to part with it - in my eyes it is perfection - complete with all of its inherent flaws we all know and love - the turtle probably is the spiritual successor to the SKX and no doubt it’s only a matter of time before Seiko re-release a true SKX with all the improvements the original is lacking - and they’ll want $1,000 plus - but to me there is only one original - it’s a masterpiece of the watch world
@@jhuman1074 I think it’s because of it’s iconic case shape, the comfort and fit and the watch’s status - plus us watch nerds all have a soft spot for it even forgiving the shortcomings within it that would make us reject other watches
Great watch. King samurai is also a similar spec’d watch (gold second had too). What I love about the turtle and the samurai is they are big watches that wear smaller without compromising the fact they are legible dive watches. I actually like the Cyclopes because again that’s about diver legibility.
I’m soooo Jonesing for one of these. I have a smaller wrist so I thought it would be to big, but I tried one on and it’s a really good fit. This is definitely the next watch I buy.
I have lots of watches but this KT is my daily. I wear it with an Uncle Seiko H-Bar bracelet, which adds to the early-seventies vibe (but the OEM bracelet is substantial and attractive, too). The sapphire crystal and ceramic bezel are basically scratch-proof and the lume is typical Seiko-bright. I even like the cyclops as my old eyes have trouble seeing most date windows nowadays. Like every Seiko made in the last ten years, the bezel isn’t centered, but neither is my blue Willard and that cost 3 times as much. Why is this so difficult for them to get right? This KT is almost the perfect daily wear watch.
Great insightful review ! I absolutely adore my SRP03(black face). It’s become my favorite. I find myself not wearing my IWC, my omega as this is so comfortable on my wrist. Thinking of getting the green grenade.
